Limhwa 43cm (Leda & Sujan) Discussion Part 1

Sep 22, 2010

    1. Hello? Anyone home? :XD:

Just sneaking in here to join the discussion as I actually did end up buying a Limhwa Leda (although I went through a couple more dolls before then :sweat). She's really surprised me on how awesome she is--the balance of posing ability and aesthetics, her lively, character-filled face-sculpt, and the great overall size and proportions of her body. :whee: Yeah, I'm a bit enamored with her at the moment... I'm still working on getting to know her (posing, character, good angles etc.), but she's definitely my favorite out of all the other BJD's I've owned before (7 or 8 of them, I think...).

Anyway, here's a snapshot of her (which I hope is somewhat good... *_*):

There are a couple more on my Flickr for anyone interested.

Really looking forward to seeing and hearing more of Leda on here (and to actually join a discussion for once, instead of simply lurking...)! Sujan would be wonderful as well--can't wait to see owner photos of her. :)

    2. She is very pretty! I love her face up. Limhwa bodies are just superb.

    3. Thank you, Nimrod! :) Her face-up also surprised me by how beautiful it is, although I hope to replace it someday with one of my own (after I practice lots!) so to suit her character more. After finding out all the nice positive things about her, I kind of wonder why she's not a little more popular in the hobby... Oh well, I love her! ^^ lol

    4. Oh, it would wonderful to see what you do with her! But she will be completely different, in fact, here is the photo of my Leda with a different face up. She looks nothing like the default girl and I'm contemplating another girl with the Limhwa faceup. May be I'll end up buying Sujan as she looks pretty the same to me.

    5. I hope that Limhwa makes more girls in this size. I want a friend for my Eira but it is so hard
to find another doll that matches Limhwas estetics. Leda has such a small head compared to Unoa,
Supia and Iplehouse. (And Narae seems to have the same headsize as Supia)

I donยดt know how I feel about Sujan. Leda has such an amazing face but Sujan just felt "meh".
I wish there was more owner pictures.

    6. Nimrod, your Leda is so beautiful! And love the color of her hair--very vibrant! :) I remember seeing her on Flickr before I bought Emira--it was great to see a Leda without her default face-up (always is). =] It is rather exciting to think of how different Em might end up when she finally receives that new face-up--yay for fun possibilities!

Sujan would be a wonderful addition (not to mention the nice possibility of side-by-side comparisons of the two, XD)--to me she seems to have the feel of an elder sister to Leda or some such. I think she has great hidden potential (perhaps she's one of those bjd's who might require slightly more careful styling before they shine as a truly stunning and unique doll), and look forward to seeing more owner photos also. ^^

The fact that Leda is kind of uncommon is sizing and style (relatively speaking--small head, mature, and realistic) is what put me off buying her in the beginning (that small head really knocks out the companies that come close to matching her realism and overall style). So I knew that it would be tough to find dolls from other companies to fit in with her, and that was a slight bummer as I would really like a small semi-cohesive group of bjd's (for photostories and such). I guess I'm just going to keep my eye out for new possibilities and hope that some of the dolls I've already found will actually work (the newer Souldoll Kid boys and Soom Idealian51 men, and contemplate buying a Sujan in between... =D). I also hope that Limhwa will update the Limho body (better posing!) and release some more boys (Mono is very nice, but not quite what I'm looking for). Dreams and wishes all, but hopefully some of them come true...

    7. Thank you, Kattunge! It took me a while to get used to my Leda's faceup, I'm not her first owner but we got there))

You know, I looked around a bit and it seems that Iplehouse's newly resculpted JID body is similar to Leda's sizewise, it's even slightly bigger in some areas! So, one of them could look good next to Leda.

I was concerned about the outfits Leda could wear. However, I found out that she's pretty close to Unoa and Narae and could wear a few stretchy Tonner dresses. In fact, she looks magnificent in Tonner outfits as those are designed for an adult and a fashionable lady.

Meanwhile, I went stare a Limhwa ladies and found Eos! She's is perfect if slightly bigger than Sujan :D

    8. Hi all! Does anyone have any photos comparing Leda and Sujan? I was wondering how they differ. I Searched for a Sujan thread but didn't find one. I'm still learning how to use DOA so it could just be me! Thanks!

    9. Dollique, I haven't seen them either. This is very surprising as all Junkyspot's stock has been sold.

    10. Nimrod, you're welcome! I'm glad she finally worked out for you, (and I like her face-up! :)).

It would be awesome if Iplehouse worked with Leda (love Asa!), but I think their heads might still be a touch too large (I super picky though, so ?). I guess we won't know for sure until someone does a comparison, which would be really wonderful of course.

I was very glad that she fit into stretchy slim mini clothing when she arrived. It was all I had so she would have been naked for some time if she hadn't fit into them. :roll:It's definitely good that she can fit into some pre-made clothing. Soon I hope to sew some more clothing for Emira that better fits her personality--that should be an adventure... :whee: (not a talented seamstress yet...)

When I was thinking of collecting some larger dolls I looked at the EOS girls to buy (especially Nina). They are both so beautiful and tempting!

Dollique, Sujan hasn't really popped up anywhere (only a couple photos on Flickr, besides the company ones, and that doll was being sold by the owner) so comparisons are sadly unlikely at the moment. I'm hoping for some too. ^^ I was thinking that discussion for Sujan would be morphed into this thread (with a slight change of title) sometime, but perhaps not? Anyway, I hope you'll be able to find what you're looking for very soon. :3nodding:

P.S. For those interested, by the looks of it Junky Spot has more Limhwa's currently in stock. :daisy

    11. Thanks Nimrodand Kattunge! I noticed the extra stock on Junky Spot too, and I was thinking of which one I like more. However I haven't been able to find comparing pictures anywhere. From what I can see of a few sales pictures and the company pictures it looks as if Sujan's nose is a little narrower. I too was also wondering about clothing. I have a Iplehouse JID Isar and I was surprised my Unoa's pants did not fit her. I'm wondering if besides the visible difference in hight would Leda or Sujan be able to wear the slim mini clothes or would they be more in line with JID's? I saw on the Limhwa Leda discussion part one thread that pinktink did a comparison picture of Leda, Unoa, and Narea. In the picture Leda's head doesn't look much smaller than Unoa's or Narea's, and my JID Isar's head is almost the same size as my Unoa and Narea. From the picture Leda's hips look as narrow as Unoa's so Iplehouse JID clothing may be big on Leda's hips. But I don't know for sure maybe someone with a JID and a Leda would know better.

    12. It looks like Junkyspot has taken their own pictures of Sujan! She is splendid! And absolutely different from Leda.

      Kattunge
, I have JID Tania on an old body. If you're interested, I can take some pictures of them together during this weekend. Leda will be taller as I don't remember whether she has her flat feet. Tania's head is definitely larger, it's 7-8 whereas Leda is 6-7. Overall, Leda is more human-like in her proportions compared to almost all other dolls.

Considering I cannot sew at all, it's very fortunate that she fits in other pre-made clothing.

Dollique, I tried my Unoa pants on Leda and they fit her very well. The only thing to consider is the pant-leg length: on Unoa the jeans reach to the floor, and on Leda the edge comes to the ankle and she looks like a model. JID girls are waaay curvier in the hips and the torso-leg proportion is completely different.

    13. Thanks for the info Nimrod! :o) That really helps! It is challenging to find clothing for my JID with their wide hips and I was hoping Limhwa MSDs would be able to share my existing slim mini's clothes ( not to mention save me so money!) I guess now we could put regular slim mini pants on Leda and they will look like capris for the summer!

    14. It was really nice of Junky Spot to put up more photos! How silly of me not to notice them when I looked earlier today. She is quite wonderful--can't wait to see what people do with her!:XD:

Nimrod, thanks for the info and the offer! If it's any trouble though, don't bother yourself with it. :) I'm still hoping that Iplehouse's recent JID sculpts (such as Isar, Asa, and Soa) which have that less stylized aesthetic (and a slightly smaller head?) would fit with Leda's realism. I've researched so much for dolls to work with Leda that I've become a little fuzzy-brained in that area. I knocked out Unoa because they're too stylized, Narae because I thought they are too big-headed, and a few other realistic slim mini's for the same reasons (Supia, most of Souldoll, and others...), all of this is imho of course. Sometimes I wish I wasn't quite so picky. ^^ And sorry for rambling so much in this thread... I'll try to hold back my ballooning sentences and lengthy paragraphs of babble. >< lol

Oh, and you're welcome Dollique (from the farther up post). :) Will you be buying Sujan or Leda really soon?

And just to add to the info for clothes fitting Leda: Watch out on sleeve length as well as they might be a bit short (this is from the two slim mini shirts I own). I also have stretchy leggings for slim mini and they're only a touch too short on my Leda, and a little tough to get on (her behind is what causes some difficulty).

    15. I have both Leda and Sujan. I will take comparison pictures when I can. The weekend would probably be the earliest! DH iis in rehab after back surgery and I am trying to work a bit!

    16. Thank you ^_^ thank you! nancy_schroeder_ca. *happy dance* I can't wait! Sorry to hear about DH I hope he gets better soon. I understand about the wait. Work takes presidence. Our dolls get to sit home looking pretty and we have to work so they can look pretty!

    17. Can't wait to see the pics of Sujan and Leda together, I was really tempted to get her from Junky Spot, I do love the default faceup she comes with.

    18. Kattunge I've been thinking about Sujan, but after pictures of your beautiful Leda and Nimrod's beautiful Leda I can't decide. I also read your comment on how she is your favorite. How does she compare to your other BJDs?

    19. Dollique, yeah, that will definitely be a hard decision. *_* They're both so beautiful, different, and full of potential! :) I suppose Leda is my all-time favorite because she is very close to being exactly what I was always searching for--a unique slim mature realistic mini with an expressive face, good posing (decent range and natural movements etc.), and graceful sculpting detail (only other things I would love are slightly better posing and larger size -50cm-). I guess I desire the feeling and presence of an larger doll in a slightly smaller less expensive package. This long combination sadly seems rather hard to find, imho.

Now in comparing to my former dolls: My Fairyland dolls were too stylized and thus didn't fit my personal style (my drawing or my characters)--they were super cute, fun, and displayed wonderful posing ability, but were too young feeling and lacked a certain lifelike finesse. My Supia SD was too large and expensive for my current lifestyle, although fitting many of my other wants (her size was surprisingly fun too!). And the others I've owned (Angel of Dream mini and Resinsoul/Bobobie tinies) fell into much the same categories of problems in addition to a lack of posing. I've learned a lot from owning such a range--took awhile but now I know what I prefer etc. ^^ Still so much left to learn though... :XD: lol

Editing in a photo to lighten this post up and add some pretty:

Taken super quick for the fun of it--she's trying out some other random doll stuff I had lying around. Doesn't quite fit her style, but she still looks cute. :whee:

    20. I'd be happy to change the title of the thread! Discussion of both girls in 1 thread makes sense :D

      Cheers!
