Limhwa ToYou discussion part 1

Here's my ToYou wearing a Barbie doll size outfit that I got at Walgreens.
It had the white shirt, red blazer, striped tie and skirt (had to adjust it).

The shoes are some that I got on eBay, but I removed the top strap & cut the back seam so she can slip them on.

 

that's a fun outfit Teryl, she looks a little 70's-like, aww and it even has a tie xD

 

Hi, Annina... Yes!! That tie was the reason I bought it... such a cute, authentic school uniform accessory!!

I thought about enhancing her makeup just a bit with chalk only, which can be washed off. She looks soooo pale, but I just LOVE her with the dark black wig on.

 

good luck if you decide to enhance the faceup, the ToYou's are indeed a little pale, i like it on my girl though!
i just love their posing, in your pics one can also see that nice "catwalk like" pose the ToYou's naturally have. whenever i pose my Anouk i feel like i'm looking at a model

 

Here is my ToYou in another Barbie ensemble that I got at Target yesterday.
I do not know which wig she has on as it was a gift.

She came with very pale green eyes (see the pic in the above post)
I changed her eyes to dark violet color. I think she looks better in darker eyes!

I love these dolls. I really wish Limhwa would make a few more of them. I simply could not afford to buy one when they were released. It was really bad timing, but now I wish I had resigned myself to eating ramen noodles for a few months and just bought her. lol

 

OoO I have been playing with my Veruka lately too! I have her in all sorts of Barbie silliness. She really is a gorgeous girl. She makes me want more 1/6th size too.

 

hey everyone, i haven't posted in ages, however... i moved a few months ago, and i FINALLY found my to you (penelope)!! i was really happy since i've been tearing my house apart trying to figure out where i'd put her. i decided to redo her faceup, so i took off all the old paint and slapped on some new, but i don't know if i like it or not. i'd really like an airbrushed faceup, but since i only have pastels and acrylics, then that's what i had to use.

i also made her a new wig! i'll see if i can post pictures tomorrow or something.

 

I'm with you Linakauno, I wish I could buy a ToYou too. Perhaps Limhwa will relent and make some more. She is the most fantastic tiny perfect 1/6 woman. She just calls to you, dress me up in something amazing and very tiny

so here's penelope's new faceup. i'm probably going to redo it at some point, or maybe hire someone with an airbrush do do one. don't know yet.



this is the wig that i made for her. it was a little snug, so i might have to alter the pattern slightly, but on the other hand, it doesn't fall off, like, ever, so this is something i have to think about hahaha since all of her other wigs fall off and i don't know how to keep them on, other than putting a handkerchief thing on her.



i'm excited about making more wigs for her since i'm broke and can't actually afford to buy any hahaha.

i'm really torn about the faceup. any opinions?

annina: i have thought of selling some, but i'd like to make a few more just to get all the kinks out first.

the one she's wearing is actually backwards!! i put the pattern on the... skin? what would you call that...? whatever, i put the pattern on upside down without realizing it. i made a full-sized sd wig just before that and it wasn't nearly as picky about "grain" and "direction" hahaha. i'll post more pictures when i finish a batch. i've got a bunch of different colors and stuff, so hopefully i'll be able to make a bunch today. or at least one of each color.

well when you are ready to sell some i hope you'll announce it here or you can even write me a PM, i'd be very interested!
i have felt for a while that i need something natural and more realistic for my Anouk, but no fiber wigs i have seen have pleased me and normally the mohair ones are too fluffy/big for my taste.
yours look just like a look that could work for her!

I have tried on size 4 wigs for my ToYou that I originally bought for Barbie or my FR Fashion dolls. Ideally if you can find a 3.5" to 4", that would be better. Some size 4 wigs are too big depending on the style. My size 3 wigs (for Elfdolls) are too small.

I have never bought a Soom wig. Hope someone can answer this question for you.

I really adore the look of your doll. The patchwork and contrasting eyes are so much fun! My best friend since childhood has the greatest eyes, one blue one green, very very different eyes! Silly woman keeps using colored contacts to even them out! She is so cute that way!

hi Teryl, thanks for your answers! hmm i figured that 3.5 - 4 would be the best size because i find it annoying when a wig is too big, and as you say the elfdoll size doesn't fit ToYous.
i checked kemper wigs but they have the 2-3 size and the 4-5 size, and what i need is something in between..
then again the 2-3 size fits elfdolls who as we know are 3.25, maybe the 4-5 size is not too far away and not as big as the numbers say..
in fact it says "RILEY (size 4-5)", now if i knew how big of a head riley dolls have..?! anyone knows?
edit: oh i just read back in the thread and Teryl already said that riley wigs are too big.

 

I bought a minigem wig for my little Roxydoll Pandora that fits just great, so if ToYou is about her size, it will work.
