1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Limited dolls, quantity?

Mar 20, 2007

    1. It would be interesting to know how many Dollzone Recalls were made. They were the 1st Aniversary prize heads given out in January 2007. To my knowledge there was only 1 full doll with a factory face up and the heads were blank.

    2. If there are a certain number of the doll, they're ALWAYS really limited to the number listed. If they're on the website for a long time, that just means either A) They're only releasing a few of the dolls at a time or B) Nobody's bought all of them yet. It doesn't mean there are more of the doll than they claim.

    3. Elfdoll Special Red was released - according to Elfdoll - in a batch of 30 and was originally only slated to be released as a 30 edition special before they decided to go Standard.

      *pets own Red*

      :sweat

    4. Yes, I tought, first, of A) and B) like you :)
And there are probably the right answer... I was just guessing: how can we be sure, except the confidence in welknown compagny?

    5. i have a question:

does anyone know exactly how many Elf Ducans were released by DoD?

    6. DoD will not tell how many of the dod limited collection dolls they made :) I've tried to find out, trust me. xD

    7. oh, they're being secretive are they?

do you have an idea of an approximate amount?

that's really strange; we can't be sure how valuable the limited edition ones really are...

    8. Caught up again.

    9. I guess there's really no way to be sure except to trust the company, unless you want to try to hunt down all the owners and check. I don't see why most companies would lie about limiteds, though. :)

    10. It's not the company's fault if you don't "believe" their numbers. Not all LEs are so popular that they sell out immediately. For example, just because an LE5 remains available on the website after a year, that doesn't mean that there's really more than 5 of them. It just means that the doll isn't sold out yet.

Tan Lion was available on Iplehouse's site for the better part of 6 months... and he was only an LE10. (He just wasn't very popular right away.)

    11. Part of that has to do with the integrity of the company, which in turn will affect the value of the doll in the future for the buyer.

I work with a sculptor and we do limited edition collectable sometimes for Disney. In her contract with the company, she INSISTS that she retains the molds to the sculptures. When we finish the run, she PERSONALLY destroys the molds! Because she has a reputation of protecting her collector's investments, her pieces sell out very quickly - sometimes in hours!

    12. Well, I have only seen ever 4 limited DoDs around (Kirill, Ivan, I-ra and ducan), the rest of them I have never seen on DoA, so I assume it was a very limited number xD

    13. there should be 250 volks sakaki in each version
so now it's 500 in total

and there is 30 lucas and 30 chris each in the first two versions
but that are only the ones sold at the doll party and not including the after events

    14. Luts Redemption the Moon - 100

    15. DM Black Spider Queen - 20

I thought she was an edition of 30 not 20. Or at least that's what their website says.

    16. DoD DoT Elf I-Ra was limited to 55 if I remember correctly.

    17. Musedoll tanned Re-che was limited to only 16, hope this helps ^ ^

    18. Er.. I have a question, that I think is related -- the CP Lu-Wen on the Luts website is listed as Limited, but I thought that most limited sold out like crazy within a few days? And he is still available? ..is he just not that popular? (I want him, but cannot immediatly afford him, is why I am interested).

Or am I wrong about Limiteds selling out very quickly?

    19. Someone else asked something almost exactly the same a page before you. It was answered on the exact same page on which you posted. There's also a comment on the very first page of this thread that explains why CP limiteds are in stock periodically. Welcome to the forum, and please read threads before posting in them. :)

      *gets on soapbox*

That's two people now who've asked about why limiteds don't sell as fast as they expect them to. In a thread that, as far as I am aware, is now specifically for the purpose of having a list with numbers of limiteds. Not for asking questions about why limiteds don't sell out in minutes, why companies can or can't be trusted, whether the numbers are real or not. It's a database thread if anything. This isn't even my thread, and I don't mean to be outright rude, but one person asking was too many. Limiteds with a number are limited to however many the companies say they're limited to, whether you believe it or not. Limiteds without a number are just sold whenever the company feels like it. Sometimes they sell immediately, sometimes they don't. End of story.

    20. Whooops. After reading the first post with the list, I would like to clarify something about Elfdoll's Specials/Limited dolls. Sorry I didn't mention this earlier when I mentioned the Special Red. :sweat

Elfdoll, ever since they released Red (they had originally intended to release him in that limited release of 30 and no more, but decided to standard his basic mold), have been doing special/limited releases of their new dolls and then a standard release of their new dolls. Usually, the special release comes before the release of the standard version of the sculpt though there are some special editions that come out way after the original doll was released.

The special releases all come with special outfits and special faceups and have been released in numbers from ranging from single digits to 30 to 100 depending on the sculpt.

Elfdoll lists these dolls as 'Special' on their website, but in the actual doll description, the word 'Limited' is also tacked on. But if I am correct, Elfdoll generally distinguishes between their releases by Special versus non-Special. For example, according to correspondence written to me from Elfdoll, I own the 'Special Red' versus I own the Limited Red or I own the Standard Red.

Additionally, Special K when he was offered for sale, came with the possibility to purchase the half open eyed head. This particular head was released in a batch of 30 and no more.

Also, Special Mir's head with the swept back resin hair is no longer available for sale through Elfdoll and so that particular head/headpart was limited to the Special release only, just like the half open eyed head for K.

There are probably other similar situations that I am not aware of or am not confident enough to speak on, but I just wanted to clarify on what I know to prevent any confusion. :sweat
