1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Limiting the BJD Addiction

Oct 28, 2004

    1. LOL, you said it. They are very addicting!

    2. Um, I don't know what you mean, I can stop anytime I want to...Hehe but seriously, there is such a high quality variety and they are so interesting with such a wonderful aesthetic that many creative people are drawn to it. And then there's the accessories! Believe me, you could have worse addictions.

    3. ...I'm addicted, for sure XD

    4. Very, I'm taking $200 out of my bank account towards college for Sultra! X'D

    5. Heh, I know the feeling. This is definitely a very addicting hobby. Even though I haven't quite gone as far as taking out all my savings to buy a doll, the more I look into it, the more dolls I want. I started with only wanting a DoD doll. Then... I wanted 6 of them. 3 SDs, and 3 MSDs. Now I've started wanting a few CP dolls, maybe a Hound... some Volks dolls... It's turning into a neverending list! XDDD;;;

    6. Oh, it's addictive alright! I think I need a BJD Buyers Anonymous! I've spent the entire wekend going through my stuff figuring out what I'm going to sell on eBay to help me pay for my next baby! *g* I love them so much... I feel like they're a part of me. But hey, addictions are fun as long as you never let yourself get into withdrawl! ;)

      Edit: Just after I posted this I realized that I'm wearing a Drug Abuse Resistance Education t-shirt, LOL. Hope once I get my teaching certification that none of the ISD I apply to see this post! I'm a doll addict! Oh no! *grin*

    7. addictive? ive sold more than i can recall. i eat ramen instead of eating out or other food, i dont buy clothes for me anymore. its all insane. and id love to sya it gets better but XD it doesnt i added up all the dolls i want and it came to over $16,000!!! we need a dollyhollics anonnymus.

    8. Addictive, no never >> *looks at all her dolls stuff* mumbles* ^_^;
      When I first started I thought I just wanted one and now it became 4 and more to come. Oh boy ....

    9. YES. Very addictive. *looks at .sig line*

      But SO much fun!! And I've met such awesome people :D

      And my living room is full of beauty and artistic expression, plus I occasionally get to creep my husband out by doing the "Talkie Tina" routine . . . LOL!!

    10. I would never take money away from my extremely necessary and important school funds, but I've stopped spending money on pretty much everything else to afford my dolls.

    11. I love them, but instead of doing the grabby hands I am now starting to really look at who I might bring into my group. I am looking more to find good matches. After much searching I am finding I prefer the SD13 size. :ablink: (Best pocketbook emptiers I have ever met) and find that I prefer about 2 manufacturers more than others.

      Yes I also think there are other fantastic molds, but now I am really thinking would he/she just be an "impulse" buy or would I want to keep he/she forever?

      I guess I am starting to settle in.:)

    12. Just one...I swore...just one...Then...she needs a boyfriend...and they need a child...and wouldn't so and so be just perfect for...honestly, I almost think drugs would be cheaper...but probably not nearly as satisfying. ;)

    13. i think the better question would be "is there anyone here who ISNT addicted :sweat

      Den Of Angels.....aka- Wallet Issues Annoymous

      welcome to the group :) *golf clap*

    14. haha..I was all like "Only one for me!" then I made the deadly mistake of going to a meetup and seeing all the prettyness and shineyness of other peoples dolls...and then made another mistake by posting here, and seeing everyone else's lovely dolls....

      It's all downhill for me XD

    15. No more damaging that any of my other hobbies, I suppose. I'm pretty good at managing my money so I don't run into problems. I actually find the DIY parts of doll ownership (painting, sewing, doing modifications) to be a lot more addictive than just buying new stuff all the time.

      (But if you feel you do have a serious addiction to buying dolls and doll stuff, please acknowledge that you have a problem and get that problem under control before you ruin your finances and end up with a lot of credit card debt, because that can really hurt you.)

    16. I am an absolute addict, but there is no way I want to recover

    17. Addictive you ask? Why of course. ^_-

      I don;t think I'll ever have a large number of dolls- 4 is the limit of what I want so far, but I'm already drowning in dolls clothes and accesories! But meh- so long as I can pay my bills and eat, then it's all OK. I would never jepardise my home or future for a doll. ^_^

    18. lol Does ruining my parents' bank account count?

      jk But they are addicting. My tiny, few months old savings account is going to be drained for a tan AR UFK....after I swore I was done -_-; But this is my last mini, I swear....really.....

    19. I was just going to have just one...then I was like "OMG! They make _vampire_ dolls!?!? I'm screwed" :) But right now I can only see getting _one_ more head - unless I win the lottery and get a FCS catboy to but on a MF body...

    20. Ah, yes, I know that feeling. I don't have much longer before I've got house payments; electricity, water, cable, insurance, etc bills; and am having to live on a teacher's salary... But as of now, being a uni student, I have a wonderful excuse to spend out of my parents' bank account (talk about the good life!) and Ima gonna embrace it while I can. *grin*

      Ah, what am I talking about? I'm an only child. When I'm forty I'll probably *still* be pulling a little extra cash out of my parents' account and they'll just be smiling and talking about how wonderful I am.

      Draco Malfoy and I have a lot in common. Except maybe for the snotty attitude and the whole 'he's a boy' thing.
