1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Limwha boy To L (tuel)

May 21, 2009

    1. Sorry I am not explaining myself very well. :doh

Annoyed customer in me thinks that this - replacing the item/or refunding it, is the least that the average company selling a luxury item would do, if the manufacture were botched.

Sensible me who will be drafting the email, will be asking for a response direct from Limhwa with an explanation of why she suddenly decided to veer from her beautiful tried and tested tan to this orange colour.

What was the point, also why didn't she, on realizing that the Tan was so different from the usual colour, contact her agent, Dollfair. A simple message saying - " I've changed the colour of the Tan. Here is a picture of the new Tan next to the old tan. Are my customers happy with this change?", could have stopped all this and resulted in 10 totally happy Tan customers.

If she or Dollfair are good manufacturers/agents then this explanation should be the least they would want to offer.

I wanted people's emails so we could draft the letter together. :)

My impression was from reading the thread that we were generally dissatisfied with the Tan, esp. in comparison with the pictures of To L originally advertised.

We don't have to send anything collectively. I am definitely going to draft something though, cos I feel that otherwise I have been duped and I'm not happy. :)

    2. I like my boy.
But I totally agree that there should have been an information about the change of resin color...

    3. I'm pm my info along, sylvian. :) I think the idea of drafting the letter as a group is a good idea, because I do think it -is- an issue. Just because it works for me, it won't work for everyone and I do genuinely understand that.

I have to wonder if it is Limwha or the casting house that is responsible, though; I do see something of a distinction between the two since I believe most casting isn't necessarily done in-house.

    4. Good point regarding the casting house, surreality. I hadn't considered that. :)

Having said I think that any conscientious manufacturer or creator would check a item bearing their name prior to sending it out to their customers. But you never know, I suppose we must give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

I definitely wanted to draft the letter together as a group. We probably all feel different degrees of indignation/irritation but surely our goals are the same. To express our unhappiness and to make sure that it doesn't happen again.

Personally I love Limhwa and would happily have brought an Eva and a Dreaming Half elf also in the Tan at some point in future. But she has really lost me as a customer after this and I need to express my disappointment.

Anyway thanks for the pms so far. I will contact everyone who brought a Tan To L who hasn't pm'd me to make sure that they don't wish to be included and then we can get started. :)

    5. I thought about that, but my understanding was that Jung Ji Youn herself actually did the face-ups on the dolls, so she would have seen them. I'm pretty sure I remember an early comment of Catrina's about her making changes in the face-ups on every doll.

    6. True, very true -- they would have been seen. Maybe it didn't seem like a problem, or there was so much pressure to get them out to us that recasting wasn't possible? (Or couldn't be done for sake of the expense?) It's hard to know.

    7. Good luck with the email and I hope there will be a resolution for those who are disappointed with their To Ls.

    8. PMd you, Sylvian! <3

    9. Hello everyone
I'd like to briefly say what I'm doing about this....

First, in response to many requests, I have been having Limhwa ship the dolls direct from Korea rather than first to my studio here in the USA. When the dolls were shipped here first, this made an additional delay which people felt resentful about.. however, it allowed me to personally check and see each doll before it was sent to owners. In many cases, I was able to replace any broken parts or begin to arrange replacements on the spot, rather than having the customers discover it first.

Anyway, the last two pre-order shipments have been sent direct, so I did not see any of the Tu-L boys myself.

My translator was traveling a lot in August and it was difficult communicating with the artist, and I am now doing that. Like the rest of the world, August is a tricky time to email back and forth in Korea because so many people are vacationing. I will pass along your comments to her, and see what she wants me to do about it. Just for the record, I was never told that the tanned color would be any different from the photos she made of Tu-L. Just that he would be in an edition of 16, and that he would be very limited. She sent me photos, which I posted as she requested.

That's all the information I can pass along now, so please allow me some time to have a few e-mail exchanges with the artist and see what light I can shed on this.

      Thank you for your patience,
      Catrina

    10. Thanks for the extra information, Catrina.

    11. Well, it's been about a month. Has anyone heard anything?

    12. I was wondering about any updates too ^^

    13. May I ask what happened regarding the Tanned To Ls? I was planning to buy a tanned Limhwa doll, but now I'm not so sure.

    14. It seems like nothing substantial happened. Catrina promised to make contact with Limhwa through their interpreter to discuss things and that's why sylvian held the open letter to Limhwa back - to give Catrina a chance to be more pro-active. (I was involved in preparing said letter.)

That was more than 7 weeks ago and I conclude that dollfair didn't keep their promise, otherwise I'd assume either they or sylvian would have told us about the outcome.

If this was another attempt at keeping annoyed customers down, it has worked so far.

But I'm sure there'll be yet another explanation why things did not happen.

Sorry but understandably I'm a little miffed at the whole affair, too!^^

    15. No news from Limwha obviously. My tan girl was made in the same order als the orangy To Ls and to me she doesn't look very orange, but her resin is of a warmer colour than the older Limhwa tan dolls. So long as there is no reply from the Limhwa artist we can only guess whether the orange tan was a one time thing or Limhwa tan resin has become a hit or miss experience.
I'm very happy with my tan girl and would love to recommend the resin if it was certain that's what you get, but I find it sad there's still no answer from Dollfair or the artist.

    16. Thank you Mandagore and Muisje, its just weird that they updated their site with another doll without addressing this concern. I just wanted the old Limhwa tan so bad. :...( - such lovely sculpts

    17. I agree that it's odd. But this is pretty much what I expected from Dollfair anyway.. sadly. Either no response or a response that basically says 'we aren't going to do anything about it and we don't know if it will happen again' .

    18. I also agree - it's sad. I think I may have to contact Dollfair again. For them to ignore this problem just isn't in good taste.

    19. If Dollfair had given the warning that the resin has a wide colour spectrum earlier, less people would be complaining now, because they could have made an informed decision to buy a tan doll. Until the orange To Ls I have never heard people complain about Limhwa tan. It was sort of a surprise to me.

The replacement torso piece is in the mail so I hope to receive it soon and be able to tell how much difference there is between my tan doll and the torso piece. That may help, although the tan resin from the current order period may still be different.
