Loongsoul 1/3 doll discussion Part 5

Hmm that might depend on which sculpt you're looking at specifically. Some of the sculpts are more mature looking than others. Like Jiao Mu Jiao I would say looks younger than Chu Mujin imo for example

 

The new 75 cm boy looks really nice! All the details in his outfit are gorgeous, and the body looks rather pretty as well.

 

I want that body but no reason yet!

 

I also want it but I don't know what heads would fit on it. It's got a larger neck measurement than their 73 and 80 cm bodies

 

I was super excited about this new body, until I saw the knee and elbow joints. I am, quite frankly, Horrified that LS would make a body using those fugly and unstable AF joints, especially since their joints have only gotten better over the years. What a let down!

 

I hadn't looked too closely at the joints, but it is interesting they're styled so differently to the other bodies. Like the 73 and 62 cm (since those are what i have) have a separately sculpted knee joint with a knee cap that looks nice when posed. This does seem an odd choice with all the detailing for the rest of the sculpting on the body

 

My Fang Ri Tu arrived Monday!! He is super adorable and the fullset is so pretty (you can even see all the details, the shoes, the pants, everything is gorgeous as usual), I love all the little accessories!! He even had a bunny tail! I'm not certain the eye color I want for him, maybe pink or pale green to go with the look he's giving.

I finally pulled out my Black Dragon to just touch up his blushing and whew he is heavy..I had to reglue a tail magnet and now I'm thinking about how to stage a photo session with a nice background since he's soooo big. I loves him though! I'm tempted to do some faceup updates as well while I'm messing around haha. I also got a new camera and I absolutely have no idea how to use it lol as always, too many projects, my poor bunny boi is so far down the customization list

@quilleth Thank you so much! I really love how he turned out. I was definitely winging it when I painted him haha. There's a few things I want to fix but it's mostly his faceup since I'm a bit better now.

He's so big that it's hard to get good photos of his details, but here's a good one of the tail and wings, plus some others under the cut. My favorite part are the lower leg spurs, I lovessss thems and how the airbrushing came out.

@karlyl He is stunning! I had not realized that LS did fantasy dolls like this. I've only really known anything about the company since I got my Wei Huo Hu a couple years ago.

 

@industrious.jenn I actually hadn't really considered Loongsoul at all until this bad boy came out and I saw the tail plus wings -- I absolutely could not pass him up haha. I'm a big fan now, all the dolls I've gotten since him have been excellent! I don't think they've done any dolls quite as massive as him since (he's soooo heavy and unwieldy), but they definitely have been coming out with fun concepts.

I've been customizing his armor and weapons a bit and I really.need to finish his other outfit. No resting for me haha

 

How tall is he? I seriously know so little about the bigger LS boys.

 

They've done quite a few dolls as big, if not bigger, in the past, and they used to do them somewhat more frequently too. The God of Water dude they did was a huge snake who needed a massive (resin) stand shaped like water to stand upright.

That's crazy awesome. I wonder why they stopped doing them as much. Maybe just the economy not being so great for doll purchases. I've mostly seen their releases of historically styled dolls, which is part of the inspiration for my Wei Huo Hu. I decided to style him as historical Korean rather than Chinese, but I've always loved looking at the LS fullsets and so decided to try something similar.
