@marci12 - Hi! I saw your photo of your Swallow Fairy boy in the other Loong Soul thread, and he is STUNNING! Congrats! So glad you got him home safe! I'm curious, how long was the production time/wait? I feel conflicted over buying Loong Soul because I've heard of really long wait times, but if I recall correctly, Swallow Fairy was released in spring? I think?

I'm curious - what dealer did you purchase him from?

Also, his face-up is SO beautiful! I've also been nervous about Loong Soul, because I saw a owner photo of Dr. You Zhi that looked nothing like the promo photos. It was okay, but he looked a lot younger, and like a totally different doll. But your Swallow is so perfect! ^_^

Now I'm feeling swayed to Loong Soul again. I really love the Lady Xiang fullset, and they are having an event.... ohhh temptation!

I'm curious if anyone has purchased a Lady Xiang fullset, and if you have received her yet. I'd love to see photos! ^_^ I'm so nervous about just going on the promo photos since she is not inexpensive. o_O

I recall earlier in the year, maybe around April, a couple people were considering purchasing her. I'm curious how that went. I apologize that I don't recall who they were at this point.

I got distracted from Loong Soul when I received my PW Mori Moth, and placed a layaway order for Luts Chloe when they were having their Summer Event.

But now I'm feeling that call again.... Eeek! <my wallet just ran and hid somewhere...>

 

@Apocatiel Ty!! I wanna say he too 7 months or so to ship. I ordered through Alice's Collections. I ordered most my LS dolls though her and no problems whatsoever. I live his faceup too. I posted a irl faceup comparison to the promo pics in an older thread and mine have looked like the company pics at any rate.

Not the lady you are looking for, but still might help with waiting times estimates: I got a blank LS SD sized girl that I ordered at the end of April at the end of August (newclover-singing.com is my dealer). So it were only 4 months for the blank doll (estimate given was 4-6 months).
The estimate for when I ordered the same doll, but as a boy with face-up, was 6 months (expected arrival if I'm lucky is at the end of this year, but more likely to be around jan/feb thanks to that).
From watching other orders, I'd estimate 6-8 months if you go for a fullset.

Unless you go for special limited ones, like I did ^^° the golden Ginkgo boy (I'll never remember his offiicial name, he's just been golden ginkgo boy for me from the start ^^°°°°°) has been said in advance to need about year. He was only avaible as a fullset with additional head and extras thought, so that might be part of the reason.

 

@marci - Awesome! 7 months isn't too bad at all! ^_^ I was looking at Alice's Collections, too, for my purchase. Is your Swallow Fairy the Normal Yellow skin colour? I'm unsure what skin colour I'd like - I was leaning toward the Light Rose or the Normal Yellow.

I'd be curious to learn how both of those skin colours mellow/change with time.

What other LS doll do you have? Do you have photos online? I'd love to see them. ^_^ (Can't get enough of BJD photos!!)

I've corresponded with Alice and purchased quite a few outfits through her store. She offers awesome customer service, and the items are beautiful and well-made. So I feel comfortable purchasing an expensive BJD there. I'm glad to hear your Swallow Fairy purchasing process through AC went well!

Maybe the posts I had read about 12-month waits as the normal wait time were posted during the height of the world coming to terms with the pandemic.

I have to admit that until I discovered Loong Soul I was never drawn to boy dolls. I LOVE LS boys!

I've been having a crazy (maybe) thought. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see LS publish an artbook of their promo photos. I wonder if they ever have?

Last year, when I was stepping my foot into BJDs in earnest (I'd loved them from afar for quite a long time), I bought a large-format hardcover Volks Super Dollfie artbook. I was considering Volks at the time, and I wanted to get ideas for face-ups.

Until I saw all of the beautiful factory face-ups! I'm holding off on my face-up plans!

However, as I saw other companies' dolls, and promo photos, the Dollfie artbook photography started to seem, well, kinda plain, compared to LS, or Peak's Woods, or Doll Leaves' online promo photos. And owners' photoshoots.

Each page of the Dollfie book just has several small doll photos (1/4 page, sometimes larger), with no scenery. props, or visual storytelling. Just the dolls against a blank background. I don't even look at it much anymore. It is really more of a catalogue, I guess.

But I would purchase a hardcover, coffee-table style LS artbook, of their promo pics, in a heartbeat!

I like to scroll through online photos, but a book would be cooler!

I'm just curious if anyone else has been wishing for such a book, or if I'm just a nerdy bookworm. ^_^

@Apocatiel My retailer is in china, so I don't have a long wait time from China to the retailer and from the retailer to me, which I think can also add 1-2 months.
From my experience dolls also no longer need 1+ months anymore to get from A to be.

I only have this weibo link now to Mr. Ginkgo XD he was very time limited.

Yes, Loong Soul is evil and tempt you in every way.
I was certain I'd never go bigger tan 66cm MAX and feel more comfortable with shorter SDs. Well... then they released the boy above and I knew it was all over.



And trust me, we'd love that Artbook too u.u I think we mentioned it a few pages ago. Or I did at least XD They are just so beautiful, I know I'd oogle them lots.

And I could be wrong, but I think that's exactly what your artbook is. The cataloge for their special buying system. But as mentioned, I could be wrong. Volks sticks to their original style, which a lot admire for still leaning into the classic anime style.

Loongsoul was always majorly fantasy / Wuxia & Co focused with their styles and kept getting better and better and more elaborate and it shows.

 

Ahhhh!!! Hearing this makes me so excited. Congrats on him shipping. I am waiting on news about my Black Dragon ordered in Jan from Bjdivas too. I am nervous about the shipping with the way the post has been lately though. I can't wait to see photos when your boy arrives. I have not seen any in black yet.

 

So Tengu is confirmed to be a 70 sized doll and apparently he won't come alone, but there will be a moon bunny girl coming out with him.

There is also another post, that announces a sp version (I'm assuming that's short for special) that we'll get to see on the 11th.

I've also found one remark of Loongsoul that says "The moon-eater tengu still has half full feathered wings (resin), I will show you later, please pay attention" - google translated. So the sp / beast (?) version might be the first doll with feathered wings. I dimly think I remember a sort of phoenix lady in the past, but I might be mixing that up.

I also think those are some new bunny pets? I think the ones they had before were looking slightly different.

 

Wow, he's intense. This is the sp version I think. Bone wings?

Oh my GOD, he looks sooo cute! He kinda looks like a cuter (that tooth???) version of the Black Dragon.

@Kavarr I don't think they would have shipped mine yet if I hadn't asked. I know they were waiting on the bonus baby black dragons that Loon Soul did not include in the shipment. Did you also get the french black skin?

Here is my guy. The wig still looks a bit rough. I decided to put on his human legs for now. I really like boots. I have some more archaic Chinese style shoes coming in the mail to put on him. He's wearing some knee high suede boots for now.

He looks quite stunning all set up. The box was ginormous, and had some surprising accessories, hahaha. My only small disappointment was that the wig net was flesh toned which was very noticeable on the french black skin. I had to get out some black dye and very carefully touch up the exposed netting.




Congrats to all of you who also purchased a Black Dragon!!

 

Congrats on his arrival!! His fullset is so stunning, I wish I could have afforded to get the armor, but I will commission some for him eventually.

Congratulations! He looks amazing!!! So weird about the wig cap though. I will have to ask BJDivas if mine is in. I ordered the black skin with dragon parts nude with faceup and body blushing. I love the fullset, but it was bit much for me to pay off. I figure with a body like that he is not going to wear a lot of clothing anyway.
Edit: I am laughing thinking about those "surprising accessories"

 

Everyone's black dragons look amazing! He is a truly impressive sculpt. I love coming in here to see all the doll photos being posted. The new moon bunny girl also looks super cute.

Now, unfortunately, they're doing a discount event and that's probably as good a discount as it's going to get and I have been eyeing FuSang for a while. My currently only Loongsoul doll is in white skin and while I do really like the look, it is pretty paper white, so I'm considering getting her in yellow skin for a hopefully more natural skin tone. Making decisions is so hard x_x

 

I love the body on the monster version. The wings are amazing!!! The facial expression is great as well!

I love the normal version. The smirk is charming .... I'm sweating over here wondering if I should get him or not since I already have a Ying Zhou on layaway .. i mean what's another doll right....

 

Aw man. Black dragon full set is too pretty.

Tiangou (Chinese) is more correct than tengu (Japanese). I've seen tengu representation only as bird motifs while tiangou has bird and dog motifs.

I'm seeing Mo Ran in more LS dolls ever since my friend confirmed that Ying Zhou looks like Chu Wanning. They are characters from the novel (Dumb) Husky and his White Cat Master. Maybe I'm bad at visualizing characters while reading or maybe LS sculpts aren't extremely dissimilar.

Does anyone wish that full grown dolls were a smaller scale?
