Losing/Misplacing Doll Parts or Dolls?

Dec 7, 2006

    1. I'm a pretty obsessive-organizer/clean dork so my stuffs rarely get misplaced because I arranged them neatly and put them in their respective containers/boxes marked according to what they contain. Like "hands/horns", "dresses", etc! And then the containers/boxes are shelved.

There was a pair of leggings that went missing though... I only remembered it because I've seen a picture of one of my dolls wearing it in it. Maybe it got vacummed into the black hole of doom or maybe it's in the scrap box, I'll have to dig into it later!

    2. I misplaced the extra wings for my OrientDoll SO vampire... I had them in a bag in a box of doll stuff, took them out to repaint them... and haven't seen them since. It's been about a year, I don't think I'm going to find them. :|

    3. I briefly lost a hand's s-hook in my bedroom once while restringing one of my boys. Somehow I managed to catch the elastic on something and when I pulled the hook went flying. I heard it make contact with something hard, so I knew it wasn't lost in my sheets. But besides that I was clueless as to its trajectory and rather aggravated as the restringing hadn't been going very smoothly in the first place and I had no more hooks to spare. XD I was dreading that it had dropped behind my nightstand or bookcase or some other place I'd never find it, but luckily it only took me about 10 minutes to find it on the hardwood floor just under the bed.

    4. Despite the fact that my room is a disaster area (nowhere to put everything :|), I haven't really permanently lost any doll stuff. I'm pretty careful with it, and now it has its very own rolling stacked plastic drawers bin thing that I got at the home center for about $10 (my art supplies have been put into a second one). That said, I've certainly misplaced things, and even forgotten about other things. Though I imagine that once I begin to accumulate more...

At one point when I'd decided I was going to sell my Puki, I figured I'd better have a look at the default eyes that'd come with her, just to attempt to determine what colour they were for her sales post (they were some odd combination of blue and yellow, yet not green). I'd put them into one of Mimiwoo's gem-like eye containers, and I apparently wasn't careful enough when I opened it-- for the tiny little globes just flew right out of the box. After a couple colourful profanities, I got to searching. :doh I found one quite easily, however the second was being damned elusive. I looked everywhere around the room, multiple times, but just couldn't find it. Finally, in exasperation, I started to shake out the fuzzy blanket that had been on the chair I'd been sitting in, only to find the missing eyeball clinging to it. :sweat Darn tiny puki items.

    5. I did almost lose one of Emma's eyes while I tried to take her head off. Her eyelash had mysteriously started to pull away from the top of the eye socket, and my first step was to remove her eyes. I had a lot of putty stuff inside her head, and I wanted to keep the eyes from moving or rolling around on the table, so I was prepared to wrap it around the eye. I hadn't done that before it happened.

Well, somehow, I don't remember if the eye rolled off the table, or if I dropped it, but it fell onto the floor, and almost went under the couch. I freaked out, but looking back, my floor is carpeted, so it wouldn't have gotten too far.

I'm much, much worse with my OT Dollfies; their costumes each have different separate pieces, like gloves, shoes, stockings, headpieces... and I've more or less lost almost all of them. Whenever I do find something, I lose it again. I was like that with Barbie clothes.

I think Emma's clothes are too big to go missing, lol:lol:.

    6. I've never lost a doll... or hands... or feet... or a head-cap.

      >_>

      <_<

We're not going to talk about eyeballs, though.
I... may have lost some number of those.

      Some really silly number...

    7. Oh dear! I sometimes misplace my dolls mouthparts (teeth). =__=

    8. I've lost a whole box (it was a tiny box) of doll hands before. I was so freaked out. But I foudn them the next day. They just fell off of my shelf.

    9. I thought I lost my boy's ankle while I was re-stringing him, but I found it pretty fast.

      =^__^=

    10. I have currently misplaced a small elfdoll box containing tinies Min and Bong. I know it must be somewhere...our appartment is pretty small.

    11. At a convention, my Minette's horn fell out and rolled away without me noticing. I was upset, but I asked Soom if I could get a replacement, and they let me buy another.

    12. I haven't lost anything super important. I lost one of Mike's horns, but it showed up again later, stuck to some random thing. I've lost eyes. A couple are still missing, but I found one in a box of Christmas ornaments!!

I loose accessories more than anything. After Amir's ex-boyfriend visited (he belongs to my friend) two of Amir's guns, a knife and a piece of jewelry disappeared. Mysteriously, they reappeared after they broke up....I know my friend had nothing to do with it, as she lives in a different state and had mailed the doll to me and I was the one that packed him up to go back home....

    13. Found! They where in a dollcarrier with an MSD, it seems likt i took them somewhere but forgot.

    14. I keep 'parts' in a drawer...wait now it's a plastic storage container. So haven't lost anything. However, my best friend misplaced several of doll heads recently. She had left several dolls (and boxes) with me, while she was out of the country, and then she got back and took her stuff back and with her to her new house. She swore for about three months that I had several of her floating heads. Then she found them packed away in one of her other boxes.

Oh similar was I was going through the boxes to make sure all the doll stuff was there, and I couldn't find the Galena Wings that were to go with her. Opened all the boxes, even the box they were in, but I didn't notice them, as they were against the side of the box, vs laying down (I thought they were just part of the box edge, because you know some doll boxes are thicker then others.). So I totally didn't notice them. Found them after looking through all the boxes, getting frustrated and doing a second search through the boxes, because I couldn't believe I had misplaced such large items.

    15. I haven't lost anything before but I've currently misplaced an entire outfit^^;
I can't believe it's gone forever so I'm sure it's around, but I feel like I've looked everywhere twice and it's nowhere to be found! It's driving me nuts...I'm not the most organized person in the world but I never lose anything...

    16. Luckily I have only lost some pairs of eyelashes yet.
Though I have sucked up an eye once, with the vacuumcleaner.
I'm happy I found it back in the end XD

    17. I personally haven't lost dolls themselves - mine're all too big. But I do keep misplacing shoes for some odd reason. Come to think of it, there's at least two pairs on my bedside table I need to put back in their storage box before I forget again. :sweat And then there's the clothes on the shelves by my bed, the random wigmaking things on my desk... yeah.

    18. Mini Dollfie Dream have the jointed 'skeletons', and my girl's arm popped off at a con. I ran around in a panic asking everyone if they'd seen her arm. Fortunately, it was in the craft room, sitting on a table just waiting for me to come back for it. The room maintainers said they'd figured I'd notice eventually. :P

    19. Update!

I think I've lost track of one of Emma's pairs of shoes. Most likely, if I look for them hard enough, I'll find them in the place where I think they've been. I never have her in them because she can't stand up, so I guess it was easy to either lose track or just not really pay much attention to where I put them.

Other than that, in terms of clothes I actually do put onto my dolls, everything else is safe. Each has their own tin that I put their items into.

    20. I lost one of my pukifee's hands earlier this evening. When changing clothes I normally take the hands and feet off and put them on a table but one hand disappeared. I searched my apartment for hours only to find the magnet attached to a screw on the side of my chair!
