1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Losing/Misplacing Doll Parts or Dolls?

Dec 7, 2006

    1. I guess I Kinda lost a doll. :D I was shipping it to a girl who bought it, from Canada to the US. Tracking number and everything.
Wellz, long story short, they lost it. She's still somewhere in limbo, I already paid the girl who ordered her back in full, and I basically think that someone stole it, after seeing the price marked on the box. it got to Mississauga, ON, and just disappeared.

I'm incredibly disappointed with Canada Post on this one, they seem to basically be like, well oops, that sucks. And that's is.

      So, kinda, I guess I lost a doll. :)

    2. So the magic eraser is for the dirt that got on the doll? wow, never thought of that. Tide pens I know :P
Maybe if I bring a friend along it'd be less uncomfortable, do you think?

    3. I've lost things using canada post before, but luckily I've never lost a doll in the mail..
      Did you get insurance?

    4. Check out the Esthetics subforum for a very informative sticky on all things Mr. Clean Magic Eraser that someone (and oh, I just don't know who) spent a very long time on and continually updates with info. Amazing thread full of happy info. :D

Why not? Bringing friends is fun and you have an assistant doll wrangler. ^_^

    5. that's what i'm gonna do...hehe

    6. I've never lost a doll, but i know about a girl here in Spain that had to trave llong in bus, to another city. She was carring her dolls with her in the bus and she got asleep during the trip. When the bus arrived to the city she had to go dow the bus someone awoe her and in the rush of taking all the packages and getting down befor ethe bus left gain... she forgot her dolls and when realized the bus was done... and she never saw her dolls again even if he went to the company office and did the impossible to try to find the dolls :(

Also a girl i know once got her bag stolen in the street and she was carring there her puki-puki sized bjd. Still no news neither :(

I hope it never happens to me, it's horrible >_<

    7. OpheliaB: hi, I hope you find the culprit soon, hopefully the doll head intact!
I only have one guy & I haven't taken him out anywhere yet but I just wanted to say all the tips on this thread are so helpful! Maybe we can compile it into a sticky so it would be of use to others ? I don't think I saw one on this topic yet...

    8. I'm so sorry to hear that. God knows why anyone would sink so low. -Pets.-

    9. Wow. I was planning on taking my doll out for his first trip to an anime convention. But now I'm starting to think it's not such a good idea.

    10. When we changed states when I was younger, the movers actually "lost" *we think stole* some of my old madame alexander dolls, and other costly collectables. So when I move, all dolls packed up securely first, and then transported by me alone, or my BFF who's also a doll person.

    11. I've seen some plastic drawer sets in many different sizes that I plan to get. They'd be perfect for doll things, since cats can't open the drawers and they're big enough to not be knocked over;)

I also plan to put baggies or other boxes inside the drawers for extra organization.

Now to clean my room and find a place for them...:sweat

    12. Chiming in about moving, when we moved I put my dolls in their carriers (no carrier yet for the Shiwoos, so they went in their box) and hand-transported them to the new apartment, then put them in the closet (with the cats, but on a shelf :kitty1) and kept the door shut while the movers were there. I didn't let anyone else handle them, not even my roommate--even though she loves my dolls and would take care of them under normal circumstances, she was too stressed and had too much else to worry about that day. If I'd needed to, I would have left them at a friend's place until the dust settled, but it all worked out fine. I'm just paranoid enough to move my valuables myself, like my dolls and computer, and even mislabel the box in order not to draw attention to it--"Dishes" for a set of antique teacups, and "Office Supplies" for personal papers, for instance.

I always put them in their carriers for going out in public and keep them with me, the same as I would my laptop or my wallet. I have left my dolls on a table at a meetup, but I think, after OpheliaB's experience, I'm not doing that again :x. When I start bringing dolls to cons, I figure I'll bring one at a time and tie a cord/ribbon to the doll's waist and my wrist. It'd make it a lot harder to snatch him/her out of my hands, and the struggle would attract attention.

    13. LOL! I do that too!

I like your doll leash idea. I think I will do that with my tinies in future.

    14. Oh, thanks! Yes, I originally thought of it for my Baha, since she's so small it'd be easy for someone in a crowd to grab her, stuff her into a bag and disappear. Then I thought of all the pickpockets' misdirection tricks out there and decided to leash them all. I'm going to have to get a spool of cord and learn to tie a decent knot before the next convention!

    15. At meetups there are often group photographs on tables and whatnot. Place your doll on the table yourself, do not let someone do it for you unless you trust them completely. Stay in the area, keep your eyes on your doll. Then, when the photography is done, be the first one to the table and pick up your doll.

Always keep eyes on your dolls. I know that at conventions I always recruit a couple of my trusted friends to watch out for my dolls should they happen to get out of my sight, and I do the same for them. I usually end up sitting down and not moving around a whole lot so my friends often leave their dolls with me while they go do something, which I'm fine with, and I keep their dolls close to me or, if there are many, they go in bags whose straps/handles I can loop around my wrist or ankle.

Honestly, there's no need to be completely paranoid...just take common sense steps and you should be okay.

    16. I hope your cat(s) aren't like mine! They open doors, drawers, cabinets... Nothing is safe! XD

Anyway, I'm nervous about taking my future doll places now from these stories of losing them/having them stolen.. D:

    17. lost doll stuff yes deffinately a few wigs have gone missing and such.

lost a doll, no way, not even the dolly heads nad things here that aren't mine thay my friends leave here. i don't think i've ever loose one of these guys, not even my tinies. it's like i know where nothing else is but i know where they are.

    18. I thought I lost my little Hyde once...but he was just sleeping in his box downstairs....thank goodness!
I somehow lost a crappy pair of purplish brown eyes that I waited like 2 weeks to get but thats all.

    19. Scary, I hope not! That would be dreadful! AnnMarie

    20. I have never lost any bjd, but I have heard many complaints from the public postal service of my country (Spain). Boxes disappearing, things that are broken, ...

Since then I only send bjds things with insured or by private courier.
