It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Losing/Misplacing Doll Parts or Dolls?

Dec 7, 2006

    1. i havn't but i was talking to someone at a convention and she had. she couldn't find the hands to the poor doll so she had to order new ones. the day after she recieved them and put the hands back on she found the lost ones...

    2. I'd hate it for a doll to lose a hand or something. Urgh, the horrible images of that..

    3. I went through several pages, trying to find this topic and didn't find anything. If this has already been discussed, or isn't allowed, feel free to delete it. Here is my question:

      - Did you ever lose something related to your doll? Whether it would be hands, or feet, or a wig, or an entire doll in general? How did it make you feel? Did you ever find it later, or did you have to replace the item and/or buy a new part/doll/etc?

I recently got a Littlefee, who came to me with extra hands. On Friday I was cleaning her up and dressing her for a meet on Saturday, and must have either misplaced or confused her hands with trash and pitched them (they were in bubblewrap). Today I wanted to go out for a photoshoot, and I couldn't find her hands. Part of me is telling me they went in the trash by accident... I feel horrible.

Share your stories, maybe it will help me figure out what to do and feel better. :\

    4. Eyes. There's always eyes everywhere. A lone glass one in my travel chest, a half-dome acrylic in pages of old sketchbooks, a couple pairs in plastic drawers tucked in the back of the closet. I have a tendency to put things in "brilliant hiding spots", only to forget them later.

    5. The only time I've lost anything related to my dolls - was when I was out and about at a convention. I had two minifee with me and in my arms in the dealer room and my Miyu kept dropping things - just so happened she didn't like one of her hands and dropped it in there. I noticed within a minute or two of it happening but someone else had already picked it up and didn't bring it to the lost in found (we checked at the end of the day). I know it was found because later when I lamented to a friend she said someone had asked her if her kid delf had lost a hand because they'd found one. I don't find s-hooks hard to deal with to begin with - so beyond headcaps I basically hate things held on with magnets now >_<;.
Otherwise I don't tend to loose things. They have boxes that go in larger boxes that go in a certain spot. And I limit what I take out and have a spot for it in whatever travel bag it's going in.
I do tend to walk away without my wallet alot if I put it down though.... don't know how that works.

    6. I've moved about 4-6 times over the past four years and I'm amazed at how little I've lost. I think I've only lost one complete outfit, a shirt and a wig. There's probably more that I don't even know went astray, but who knows.

Honestly it doesn't bother me that much. The outfit wasn't limited, the wig can be easily replaced and the shirt, while OOAK, wasn't anything outstanding, special or wildly expensive. I'll find them when they turn up, I suppose.

    7. I had my baggy of eyes and eye putty taken out of my doll junk box for a photo shoot one time. I set it down somewhere and I haven't found it. I'm not sure where I put it...I thought I put it back in the doll's box, but I can't find it... so I have no idea. xD

    8. Did you have to buy new hands, or how did you go about obtaining them?

    9. I don't lose things, the dolls merely hide them from me. =_= So far, I've lost and found wigs, shoes and clothes. By and large, though, because I keep everything (relatively) neatly organised, I've been able to account for all my doll-related stuff (except for money, of course).

I do know someone who lost her doll though. =_=

    10. yup, the normal feet on m DZ Isabel. For some reason I only have her high heeled ones- which I have never used. I had restrung her with the Abadon armor and so didn't need her feet. Two years later I unstrung the armor, and the box only has the high heel feet in- which is really very odd. So, at the moment she has my Vesuvia's feet in- looks odd, but until a new pair from DZ arrive atleast she can stand heh!

    11. I keep all my spare dolly parts like hands and extra tiny faceplates/heads that aren't being used in a plastic container. That way I know they won't get lost.

Except the spare hands and wings I had for my Bambicrony Pepe elf. I have no idea what happened to them. The hands are gray and were never used, and the wings had a magnet out of them so I put them away. I keep thinking they're buried in one of the many containers where I store clothes and wigs, but I've moved a couple of times since getting my Pepe so they could be MIA for all I know ...

Other than that, I haven't lost anything yet. But I have to admit I'm paranoid about ever losing my Shadow King's ears. He's B&G's Old World line gray elf. His ears are long and held on with magnets. If I lose one of those, replacing it might be difficult since it's gray resin, unless B&G are gracious enough to sell me another one. So, if I take him out, I keep his ears tucked safely away unless we're sitting down.

    12. I misplaced a pair of doll glasses and a gun -- I think that's about it. I try and keep their stuff fairly organized, but sometimes something small like that will sneak past me.

    13. Oh hell, yes - you name it, I've misplaced it. I have an unhappy tendency to leave floating heads in their boxes and then forget they're in there. On the up side, it's always kind of like a dismembered Christmas around my house.

"Hmm, what's in here? Oh my gosh, hello, gorgeous!"

    14. I've lost an S-hook a few hours after the doll's arrival. I was re-stringing Icarus into his fantasy parts and the hook just... disappeared... never to be found again. Otherwise, all the extra pieces go into a special box. Said box, however, does not fit my spare chalco parts so I'm going to have to look into an alternative once I can afford to get his hooves.

    15. I had a dollzone fox once upon a time. He fell behind my TV caibnet and I forgot about him. He was so small and I normally played with my larger dolls and all. One day I was cleaning and pulled the stand out and was like Hello there sir.

My resinsoul Ox Wufus tail like to come off and fall. I have lost it countless times in my room or outside. If I do take him out I tend to leave the tail at home (he wear pants) so that I wont lose it somewhere I will never find it.

    16. Thinking about it, I haven't lost or broke many things but I still feel REALLY bad when it does happen. I've lost a wig and a hat from my little BBB March and I felt horrible about that for weeks. I couldn't even look at her. >__< Now I've BROKEN my poor Unoa's hand. I felt so bad. I was changing her pants and it just fell off. I don't even know when I will replace it now.

    17. The only thing I've lost is eyes. Not pairs, though. Single eyes. So I now have a jar of odd eyes in my doll box I'm hoping will eventually find their partners :sweat

    18. I lost one of those puki pig ears once. I was working on her and it just flew off my desk into a pile of stuff :/ never found it again.
Nowadays I keep all my valuables in one of those plastic cases with compartments you can put in yourself. There's still some random acrylic eyes laying around places, but I won't feel bad about losing those xD

    19. I've lost the feet of one of my dolls. She came with regular bare feet and slightly smaller feet meant to fit in doll shoes. I replaced her bare feet with the shoe feet the first day I had her and haven't seen them since. It's like they were snatched off my desk by an unseen hand. Weird.

    20. Like Genesblues I misplace heads--they had their own shelf for a while but it got dismantled and there were refugees all over the house in drawers. Miguel's head is especially migratory--it doesn't fit neatly in anything, so it ends up being in various tupperwares and shoeboxes. Wigs are constantly disappearing because of my female cat, who likes to take them away and groom them. (Most of my short wigs are a little *_* by now). I'm sure a couple of my dolls came with heeled feet but where those feet are now I couldn't tell you..probably with the eye putty in some Harrod's tin.
