Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Losing/Misplacing Doll Parts or Dolls?

Dec 7, 2006

    1. I am too new to the hobby to have lost any dolls, but I've already lost the elastic I bought at Volks specifically to re-string my BBB. It disappeared into the black hole of my art studio (aka the spare bedroom) never to be seen again. I'm going back to buy more next weekend cause I've given up on finding it.

    2. I had to buy another set of hands so she could have two again. Luckily because she was a Fairyland doll - I was able to order her new hands from a US dealer and not worry about excessive shipping costs. I've never had to do it with any other company so I'm not sure what it would be like to replace hands on any other dolls. x_x I bet shipping would suck.

    3. Shipping from Fairyland is ridiculous! I found a US dealer I'm going to buy the hands from as well.

    4. I didn`t really loose anithing to important , just yet.I do have the tendency to lose things very easely, but when it comes to my dolls , well, they`re the items i take most care of, cuz I love them.

I lost some socks , a wig and misplaced a jacket a few times , but I found that one.In general , I`m not much of an organized person , but I keep all my doll stuff in two boxes, so I won`t lose them.

It would be devastating if I`d ever lost one of my dolls. I can`t even imagine what an awful feeling that would be.

    5. I've always been the type to "misplace" things...... when I was a kid my Mom
would watch as I undressed my Barbies and knew the shoes etc. would never
      be seen again :sweat
But being all grown up I take great care of my expensive ABJD items!! At least
I like to think so  Everything is tucked safely away in boxes, but I now
have SO MANY boxes that I have found myself not knowing what is where!!
I've "misplaced" wigs/eyes/fantasy parts/a doll head (yep!) and currently a whole
tiny doll is MIA!! :doh I'm sure he's safely tucked away in his box in a box....
but it stinks since I had wanted to re-home him. Perhaps he is saying "NO!"?:|

For me it's just proof that I have too much stuff and not enough proper space/
      storage for it all.

    6. I've never lost a doll but I have misplaced things a few times or forgotten where I have put them. Things like extra hands or a particular wig. They turn up eventually.

Actually a lost hand is how I purchased my pukipuki for a fairly cheap price. But since there are tons of pukis running around getting him a replacement was very easy.

    7. I lost half of my Lati M's ear- it broke when his head rolled off my desk, and I stuck the little piece somewhere for safe keeping which of course means that I'll never see it again. I'm still a bit annoyed about that -__-

I also misplaced a luts head for a year when I was trying to clean out my doll stuff. Found him again in the closet...

    8. weirdly enough, about an hour after responding to this thread, I found my girls feet! They were on top of a pile of doll clothes- even though I haven't these feet for months :/ very odd lol! But, very happy they are found heh!

    9. Some how, my one girl ended up sitting on my other girl's eyes. I looked for them for two days, tearing my room apart. @_@

    10. I have lost a doll and a head.

My sister was cleaning up and my Bracken (little Tinybear Sleeping Elf tiny) has disappeared. He might have been accidentally tossed away... or put somewhere... It's been a year and I haven't seen him... :(

Either the same cleaning up... or during my move... I'm not sure... but my Elf Lishe Dreaming head has somehow gone missing. Again... It's been a year and I haven't found it yet. Fortunately, although a rare head, it isn't as important to me as my Elf Lishe head and my Elf Lishe Vampire head--both of which I still have, thankfully!

And, yeah... no fun having people do clean-ups when I'm not around... But it was done and there's nothing I can do but hope that they weren't tossed out accidentally, but are just misplaced somewhere...!

    11. Not yet.... but im positive i will one day! im always looseing things

    12. The 14cm Elfdoll tinies have magnetic feet and shoes, and those are oh-so-very small and easy to lose. Once Waverley's shoe ran away under my bookcase, and I had to move the whole bookcase to get it. :/

    13. No, I make sure I can't lose them. All the body-parts live together in a box marked "Heads/Hands/Etc.".... which is a great conversation-piece to have in the living-room, because nobody seems to be able to enter the room without saying something about it.

Once I did drop my Lotus Near's batwing ear into that deadly space behind the shelves; then it promptly skittered underneath; shelves which would have taken an army to move. I had been fixing his wig when my cuff brushed against his ear, and *fweeee* off it goes. Stupid weak magnets! But, since it was magnetic (however weakly), I managed to McGyver up some combination of cardboard flats & a magnet-on-a-string to retrieve the ear. I would have shat Twinkies if this ear had fallen off somewhere outside the home! (This doll doesn't travel.)

PS. april, you poor thing, having your sister sweep your dolly out with the bathwater! That's a nightmare. I live alone, because I hate when other people clean up and move my stuff around. If I misplace something, I at least know it was me. :P

    14. I'm constantly misplacing headcaps. When I paint my dolls I keep their headcaps safely back in their dolly room (shelf). However for some reason the headcaps tend to move under dolls, under pillows, behind/under other headcaps...anywhere out of my sight. It's extremely frustrating, especially when the headcap in question belongs to a commission head...I have scared myself half to death a few times with those. Even though nobody gets into my room to rearrange things, and I never take dolly parts out of the room (if not on a doll)...things are always wandering around (or I'm just too absent-minded to remember where I put them....><)

    15. Parts -- earlier this year, I was selling a MNF A-line body. While posing the body, a pinky finger snapped off. I put it in a little plastic bag and in a safe place. Mentioned it the person interested in buying it. Said I'd let them reattach the finger. Was turning the doll over at a meet, but couldn't find the finger at all! Buyer was still fine with the transaction. Several weeks later, I was moving stuff around on a side table, and there it was. I distinctly remember bringing it over to my desk and putting it there while I PM'd the buyer that I'd found the finger. She said to save it for the next monthly meet. Comes the night before the meet -- and the finger isn't there. We imagine it's like an amputeed cousin of Thing, and is crawling around my house to date, cleverly evading the giant.

Also am missing a tiny Soo doll. It stared in a whole "baby sprite" set of PSs several years back, and was put safely back in its box (smaller than a puki box), never to be seen again. Of course, my storage room is like an archeological dig of hobbies and craft supplies, and it may well hide out until I manage a major reorganization, project completion, or sell-off!

    16. I recently lost one of my Supia Lana's elf ears. It was there, attached to her, one day, and the next it was gone. She's in a case, so I have no idea where it could have gotten to. She still has her human ears, but I really liked her elf ears. I don't know if that's something that can be replaced.

    17. My RS Song has a pair of little magnetic horns that sit just behind his ears. I lost one of those when i took him with me to university one day...i'm not sure how though because i remember checking all day to see if they were there. Thankfully i'd made them myself so i just made him a better pair!

    18. I've never lost any of my doll's spare/unused parts or even the items on them. Everything is kept neatly in the doll boxes they come in. When I do dig through the box, I completely clear a good portion of my bed before emptying it out. This stuff is too expensive to lose track of! And the shipping to get it replaced if you can't find it on the marketplace just makes it worse.

I also play with my dolls pretty often, so I know for sure if there are any loose magnets or not, accessories, jewelry, etc. Preventative measures, woohoo! :sweat

    19. Wigs. I have a cat that loves wigs, and likes to carefully remove them and carry them off to a safe place and store them. Especially Sunny's fur wigs. I sometimes have one or two tucked under the bed for laters, or something.

I'll walk into the bedroom and everyone's moniques and hats and hairbands are in place,... and then on one end, someone will be BALD. And the cat will be all .."What?"

    20. Saturday I was taking my El girl and my Volks MSD to a friends house to show her the new face up and body of these dolls. My El girl was wear a pair of black heels with no straps on them. We get in the house ok and my friend was looking my EL over and lifted her dress to see the body better. I look at her legs and there is two black stocking and only one black shoe. I went into panic mode. My friend help me look for it I knew I had it when I left the house. After a good 10 mins I went out to my truck to look around it again. I checked in my Truck and sure enought the shoe was under my Driver side chair. I am not sure how it got under there but I am very glad it showed up.
My poor girl El only has the one pair of shoes LOL.
