Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Love at first sight?

Jun 13, 2014

    1. Soon Amber was the first time I fell in love with a doll. She was just so amazing I wish so much that I could buy her still.
I also felt the same way with doll chateau Christina:)

    2. My soon-to-be first doll is definitely considered love at first sight for me :love I had found a doll before that ideal for what I wanted in a doll, but once I saw Popodoll Mu mu I literally couldn't justify buying the other doll over him. Even when I had several people tell me to go for the first doll I found, I literally couldn't forget Mu's beautiful big eyes and elf ears. I barely considered buying a doll this year until I saw him. Now I gotta get him!

    3. IMPL Gnaeus was really the only doll I saw and fell in love with at first sight. The moment I saw him, I knew I had to have one. :aheartbea

    4. For me it was Leeke's ent fairy. The first time around I was new to the hobby and I was scared by the price tag and intimidated by lay-away plans. When they re-released her four years later, I bought her for my birthday. She is, quite simply, perfect.

    5. When I saw my DHS Elvenia on a local website and it was love at first sight. Couldn't stop thinking about him so I quickly sold some things in my collection so I could buy him. Never regretted buying him even tho I am not exactly sure what to do with him clothing-wise, so he has been naked since he got here.

Normally I go from ''I don't like this doll'' to ''I HAVE to have this doll!". Like when I said I would never own a MNF Chloe and now I do.

    6. Yeah, my first and only doll (still waiting for it) was love at first sight. It's a cheap msd but even if I could afford more expensive ones I was in love with it and had to order.

    7. I had just bought my first BJD and then I saw Crobidoll Yeon-Ho. I was smitten! And I still am. I still
look at his pictures and go "Oh God he's so cute..." He is my 'non limited grail doll.'

I'm supposed to be saving up enough money to buy two at the same time but I keep getting side-tracked
by life @.@ I will never forget the excitement and longing I feel for him whenever/wherever I see him ^^

    8. Three of five of my dolls were love at first sight: my Kid Delf Bory, Minifee Karsh, and my incoming Fifth Motif Venitu. These three from Corea and the other two from China (just something I noted on the side, not the reason I liked them). My first doll, an Angel of Dream Jimi, I bought because I didn't want to scare the p's with a highly priced doll, and my fourth, a Doll Love Night, though I do love her, I bought because I wanted a reason to buy some Peapod doll hooves. Backwards, I know :sweat

    9. I think the first doll I ever fell in love with was Crobidoll Nia. I still love him bunches but can't come up with any good character ideas for him, plus I shy away due to the price. xD;;

    10. Soom Sabik was my love at first sight. Actually I never thought i could buy him because of the price, but several years later Soom released a SG version and offered a separate Sabik head, and it was my lucky day:) Now I own a Sabik hybrid and totally happy about it.

    11. I'm new to the community, but DC's Beatrice was love at first sight for me. She was a promotional doll though, and I still haven't been able to get my hands on one :...(

    12. The new Soom Faery Legend Noellia in black skin! I was sold the first moment I laid eyes on her. WOW.

    13. [IMG]Absolutely! i had just discovered BJD's and was looking for one when i saw Elfdoll Soah, and Boom! so many were anime looking with overly exageratted eyes and Soah was just Beauty refined, calm cool collected classy and just the one ,, i knew, i got a ridiculous , credit card from some offer, was approved and slapped it down, and paid her off in four installments and id never change a thing, ,Dreams DO COME TRUE.

    14. I think there was definitely some "love at first sight" with my Soom Gena--there was just something about her that I could not resist.

The first doll that I truly fell head-over-heels for though was the Iplehouse Tatiana. I first saw her on ebay and the MP months ago, but I was not able to get her at that time. Months later I found myself still wanting her, and I am soon going to be owning one~:dance

I think in the case of both dolls, it was something about their faces. Each time I see the dolls from a different angle, a new personality trait seems to come out. xD

    15. my "love at first sight" was Dollshe's Bernard - there's just something about him. I want to say it's the face up/characters by the different artists but I don't think so. The sculpts I have now all have caught my eye for one reason or another obviously, but it's just not the same. even the latest version of Bernard is missing something. I can't explain it...

    16. The doll I immediately knew I had to have and have never changed my mind is a Dollkot Bera. :heart

    17. Loongsoul Meiji n Loongsoul Gong :XD: took my heart the moment I saw them.

    18. Once I saw the photo of DollZone Hong, I fell in love with him. Though I can`t say that DollZone company is among those I like, still I couldn`t do anything about it. I see the sculpt is not at all perfect, but I couldn`t forget him until I finally got one

    19. My first girl, Mia. As soon as I saw her, I knew she was meant to be mine. Those feelings were confirmed when I opened her box when she arrived at my house. :)

    20. My first two dolls were absolutely love at first sight. They weren't the first dolls that I felt that way about, though.

When I was a teenager with my friend scouring the internet she introduced me to BJDs, and I fell head over heels for a doll that was gorgeous. I remember he had a scar painted over his right eye, pale skin, and a blonde wig with black clothes. If only I'd known. I never would have been able to buy him before my service, but if only I could find him now. For all I know it might have been a limited somewhere.

When I came back to the hobby, I liked a lot of dolls. I didn't want to buy one, couldn't commit though. As an adult on a limited budget, at the time I couldn't justify it. Then I found Souldoll Soulkids Jonny. He was so adorable. I wanted the fullset, his gentle face was so endearing. I wanted him, BADLY.

Then, I discovered Iplehouse. I hadn't liked most of the big companies because they weren't very 'realistic', or they were too hyper-realistic to the point of being uncanny, even for me. Iplehouse had this perfect middleground, with facial proportions that were screaming of sacred geometry and detailed clothing which gave the lifelike illusion. For me, I was planning two iplehouse dolls and saving for them... when all of the sudden...

Jonny was going to be discontinued! So I bought his head on the very last day.

Shortly after that I was so happy I only bought him as a blank head, because IH released Special Forces Rex.

That was love at first sight, too.

      tl;dr :

      I don't like dolls, I love them. If I don't love them, I don't buy them.
