Lumedoll by Dollist!

Jan 9, 2008

    1. Oh why did I see that Phaet was for sale AFTER I ordered my big ole doll chateau order?!? I guess I will be living off owner pics for a good long while here!

    2. Just popping in to share a picture of Stefan, my Phaet (faceup by Eva)--he arrived a few days ago. I'm not sure he'll stick with this wig, but I thought it was pretty cute for a welcome shot.

One of the things I really love about this head is the long, narrow face. Most of my 60cm dolls have round or heart-shaped faces, so Stefan has quite a distinctive look. He's a long, lanky beast, yum.

    3. He arrived pretty fast! Congrats. I look forward to seeing more of him. I like that long face of his too.

    4. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH Phaet is here! Your Stefan looks great Cynthia in FlintHills. Can't wait to see his "final" look. As or final looks....seems I'm always two steps away from Ope's. Finally got her eyes in (they're eyeco silicone eyes), and finally got her temporary face up wiped. It'll be a couple weeks before I can actually face-up her. But at least she's ready!

    5. Stefan looks like a sweetie, but has a playful look about him as well. ^__^

I love Ope's wig! What a gorgeous color!

I've been fussing about with Rhud, my Duhr, trying to get him in some clothes that we both like, and that FIT. Or at least mostly fit. lol

    6. I'm admiring Ope's wig, too--not just the color, but that braid on one side! Can't wait to see how her new faceup turns out.

Duhrs are very, very tough to please, aren't they? Finicky dudes.

Thanks for the kind greetings to Stefan, everybody! After plopping various wigs on him and staring for a while, we're back to the short messy blond fur. Speaking of guys who aren't easy to please . . .

    7. Wow the dolls here are really awesome. I was wondering what resin the heads match? Are they a good match for the Dollshe/Dollstown?
      Thanks for any help...... :)

    8. I don't know for sure, since I only have Dollshe/Dollstown orientalskin, but I think the normal pink and light pink Lumedoll resin might possibly be an acceptable match for D/D freshskin. The neck holes of the Lumedoll boy heads are too small for Dollshe necks, though. I tried my Duhr head on a Dollshe body, since I think that head really needs a larger-scale body than the Lumedoll one, but it would take a lot of neck sanding to make the hybrid work.

    9. Thank you Cynthia. I have no body for the head, and I really do wish they sold the doll as a complete guy. I love Stefan!!

You know the one thing I really never understood is the fact that there are so few Asian looking guy dolls. Iple has a couple, one of which I ordered. Souldoll had a few, but that's about it.

    10. I know what you mean about BJD guys, in general, not looking as Asian as many of the girls do--maybe thanks to the early influence of the anime/manga aesthetic? 'Tis a puzzlement.

There have been a few Lumedoll bodies popping up in the Marketplace from time to time; I am really, REALLY a fan of Eva's body (it's beautifully balanced and engineered, with a lovely matte quality to the resin). If you're interested in putting together a Lumedoll guy, you might start either WTBing or just watching carefully for one of the bodies--

    11. Finally had both time and light yesterday--I've been wanting to take some pictures of Corinna, my Heka, in this fabulous Lady Hamilton outfit by Zozolala. The 2nd version Lumedoll girl body is slim and leggy, so sometimes dressing Corinna is a challenge--I find that clothes made with the Dollstown 13girl body in mind work really well.

    12. Hi, all (waves). I thought I would ask this question here rather than the resin matching section because there aren't all that many owners of these dolls. I have a WS Bellatrix head that I have been hoarding for a while and am just now putting her together, so I need a body. I bought her a WS Resinsoul body, but it is way too white. I considered putting her on my freshskin Dollstown Elf body, but I would prefer a less childish body as it would suit the character I've made up for her better. The resin match doesn't have to be perfect, but it's easier to blush a head to match than the other way around. I could kick myself for not buying the whole doll at once. Oh well...I would appreciate any suggestions. I'd like for her to be in the 58-60cm range.

    13. Dollmore bodies and Souldoll. I'd say for the newer ones.

    14. Ooh, Heka is cute, Cynthia in Flint Hills!

Thanks everyone for your comments on Ope's wig--it's the first wefted wig I've made. But of course, Ope's thinking maybe she wants a different one. Finally got around to giving her her new faceup, and she thinks this wig goes much better with it. It's the original wig I bought for her, but she refused it and I sewed that other one for her.

    15. Ohhhh, I think Ope is absolutely right--that wig is fabulous with her new faceup! Maybe she can change color and style now and then, just for fun?

    16. MissEmily, I'm really impressed of Ope -so interesting character ^_^

he's still my favorite and most lovely doll %)

    17. pewe, What a gorgeous head! Oh my! I'm actually looking at making a Keid Ara into a girl too.. I've already made Saiph into one, and Phaet will be next.
Bodies: I asked the sculptor specifically about this, and she suggested the Twiggling Ingenue body (if you want a really tall girl!) or the Dollstown bodies.

I've got my Saiph on a Resinsoul 68cm body, but it would also work on their 60cm body--neither as drool-worthy as the Ingenue or the Dollstown, but it fit my budget at the time....

Here she is on the RS 68cm body:

      Hope that helps.

Does anyone have pics of the boy bodies? I'm eyeing a Keid Ara, but want to know what the body looks like....Thanks for the help!

    18. MissEmily, thanks so much for your suggestions :)
I tried several bodies I have here and the SD Angelheim, which is not longer produced and not available anymore, would also be a good match from the proportions.

The Twiggling Ingenue body and Dollstown might be great for this head but are also out of my price range in the moment ;)

May I ask some questions regarding the Resinsoul body? The description on their site says that the shoulder width for the 68 cm body is just 9,5 cm - I can´t believe, the head would be too huge for this small body. Could you please measure your body at the shoulder to send a correct width? And how is the quality of the body?
Does the head fit on the neck or is there modding necessary?

The last question... Which resin colour is your lumedoll head? Mine is in light pink, what do you think which Resinsoul colour would be the best match?

Sorry for spamming you with all my questions ;)

    19. Which bodies did you try? I'm thinking of getting two more Lumedoll heads for female bodies, and I want all my girls to have DIFFERENT bodies (sigh). So knowing which ones didn't work would be helpful.

Shoulders: if you measure just the across the top of torso part of the shoulder, it is 9.5cm. If you include the tops of the ball joints in your measurements it is 12.5cm. I think the head looks fine--and Saiph is a little bit bigger around that Keid Ara, I think? This photo will also show you resin matching:

Ope's body arrives! by Estes & Anne, on Flickr

The resin match on my end isn't that great. It normally doesn't show up in photos like it did in that one. BUT I ordered Lumedoll Normal Pink, and I think the Lumedoll Light Pink would be a MUCH better match with Resinsoul Normal Pink. Still, the difference doesn't usually show up in photos.

Which also means....that Dollzone & Dollchateau resins would be good to look at. (I have Dollchatea/Dollzone NP and the match would be better with Lumedoll Light Pink than what I have right now).

Quality: It's not the most detailed body you will find--I own Doll Chateau and Dreaming Doll, and have handled several Iplehouse & Supia dolls. I will say, Resinsoul can pose with the best of them--I have never actually seen an Iplehouse who can sit up ;)--and better than many of them. They can also pull off some amazing poses. But in order to do that, they NEED thicker string. They are strung with very thin string on arrival, which is terrible for posing. They would also benefit from some form of sueding. I know of some people who wire them, but and i know of some people who wire them but I haven't wired mine. The head needs no modifying to fit on the body.

I have a stupid policy about all of my dolls being on different bodies. If I didn't, I would definitely buy another Resinsoul to go with my next Lumedoll head. Here's a Link to Ope's flickr set, if that helps you make your decision.

    20. Well, I tried these bodies:
      - Angelheim: fits really great and would be my choice if I could get a body
      - Iplehouse SID and EID: looks great from the overall proportion but the neck of Iplehouse is very thick and it would be a lot of work to sand them down... I have an Iplehouse body without head but don´t want to modify it in this way
      - Soom Super Gem: might work but I do not like the body with the long neck and therfor it would not be my choice
      - Dikadoll 63 cm body: a little bit too petite even if the body is a great poser
My other SD sized bodies are too small for this head, Elfdoll, Dollstown 13 ys, DreamingDoll. The size should be, for my taste, at least 62 cm or more.

Ah, thanks, that´s the point; my measurement always includes the arms. I guess 13 cm up to 14 cm would be perfect for that head; I have no way to compare the Saiph head with the Keid Ara as he´s my first SD sized lumedoll head.

Good to know; I do not want to blush the head to get a good match; I love the head how it looks now. So finding a good resin match with the body is what I am looking for

I guess the bodies are very cheap compared to other companies so there is always a difference in the details. But if the resin thickness is fine and the posing is good I could live with that, most times a body is dressed *lol*
It is important to know that, except for some missing details, the body is a great deal.

Ah, I will check that flickr album; good luck for finding a lovely body for your next head :)
I also have a lumedoll Tania, she´s 58 cm tall and I love her; the lumedoll faces have so much expression :)
