EDIT: this is not the right comparison after all, as the Luts Uriel is actually a version of Ange Uri, not Petite Uriel. However it is a very eroded copy where a lot of features were worn down, eyelid creases lost, filtrum almost gone, lower lid shaping flattened, nose shrunk, lips lost definition and shape. Credit for blank Uriel: Blackmagic These do not look like the same sculpt at all. All of the sculpts by Luts have tiny sharp noses, not the wide baby-like noses of the originals.
@babytarragon The Luts Honey Delf Uriel sculpt is just CH Ange Uri, same for their Honey Delf Gabriël who is Ange Gaby, and Hanael who is Hani. Weird how they changed the name to another existing CH sculpt! Ah so the Luts sculpts are the Ange ones with prototype erosion it seems. The shape itself is similar but details like nose, eyes and mouth all seems to be worn away
@babytarragon Yes, it seems like they are less detailed. I especially think the nose of Uri looks a lot smaller. And the mouths are all less refined it seems. Uri is still on my wishlist. But I"m not sure yet if I want this version! edit: Nari looks the same though! (CH Nari is mine)
I just don't have a good feeling about it.. I believe the original sculptor now owns Rosen Lied? I know the Rosen Lied/Luts tension was mostly fan-generated, but I wonder if there is still some tension. If they had the blessing of the original CH sculptor they could have had help to make the new versions, not these eroded copies bought from Aidolls.
That would explain a lot. Rosenlied dolls look so similar to the old CH faces! I do really like the Baby delf Gabriël. So I'm still happy haha

There may or may not be tension, but that would basically be all speculative at this point - it appears Luts did the work to legally acquire the molds/rights to the Customhouse/Aidolls company names/concepts, and I would hazard a guess that if Rosenleid had wanted to buy the Aidolls molds (even if only to remold or resculpt them later), then they probably could have negotiated for it, since Aidolls was selling. (I know it's not quite that simple, but to me it doesn't look like anything untoward has happened here - just a business/branding transaction) I realize it's disappointing for a huge fan of the original sculpts and all their detail, but I'm just happy to know that the molds are in the hands of a reputable company after all the things that happened with the relative collapse of Aidolls in the English language market. I am really glad Luts added in the tan options for the Baby Delfs, and I will probably be ordering a Light Tan Gabriel soon. Just trying to decide if I want to only get one girl right now, or if I should get a second so she'll have a friend her own size...
Sarako, you are right, it is good for the molds to have a legit home even if they aren't as refined as they could be. The fact that the Ange line were only available as recasts for so long was very troubling, and Luts owning them has to be better than that! I've had a thought about the sculptor 'issue'. Thinking on the timeline the original CH sculptors did not make Ange Ai, did they? They were made by the new company Aidolls after the original artists left. So the ownership of the sculpts uri, gabi, hani and nari can't have any contention to it. Only that Luts are calling them not by those names but by the CH names.
Indeed, I think I'm mixing up with the Doll catch debacle. Ange line seems to be older than the name change by three years.
So I'm planning to order Baby Delf Gabriël, and I wanted to ask you a question. I'm considering ordering her in white skin, as it looks lovely in the pictures. But I want to know, is Luts white resin paper white, or more light pink, or a creamy colour?
I'd like to know that too. Although I already ordered her in white. I did get body blushing so maybe that will add some pink tones?
Just ordered Gabriel in NS! In the end, she swapped characters, so I'll have to wait until another time to take advantage of the tan offerings. As long as she settles in well, I don't doubt she'll end up with a friend or two in the end!
