1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Luts Kid Delf Discussion part 17

Jan 9, 2022

    1. The hobby isn't dying. It's bigger than ever and getting bigger every day and in some cases oversaturated (mostly in part thanks to 3D technology being easily available. I'm not bashing, it's just a neutral fact of the changing mediums over time). The way the hobby used to be is definitely changing and in some cases ending, but the hobby as a whole is not dying. It is bigger than it's ever been. I mourn the way it used to be as well, but it's going strong. Just changing. A lot.

I wish that Luts would have did like 1 or 2 size groupings at a time so I could space out some purchases rather than having to choose from all of these categories at once. Not that it would make it less easier or less painful to see them go :( Litchi, Basil, Yuz, Kiwi... this is so sad. I've been in such a low mood since the announcement because of it. Really hoping I can pull together some funds for someone.

    2. the amount of dolls on the discontinued list that I own is so funny to me. it seems like i have bad taste :XD::XD: hahaha

    3. Is Luts even going to let us buy just the heads of the dolls they're discontinuing? I haven't bought a doll in years, and part of that is due to companies not offering just the heads, or being shipped unstrung anymore. :\

    4. No way, I love your dolls! They are all so pretty :D (You are legally obligated to take a photo of them for us now :abambi:)

Good point. I've been eyeing the standard Bory for years now, but would only buy the head separately. Good thing they're offering heads only for all of their dolls because of their 25th anniversary. :cheer
Upd: Nevermind, I think I'm blind and missed it AGAIN, ugh. I just hope I won't have to wait another 25 years for the opportunity.:sigh

    5. Muhwa has been on my "some day" list for years and now i'm pondering if I can justify it or if I should just let it go. I've been trying not to buy dolls this year because I haven't got space left to display them you know? and I have all these heads that need bodies anyway.
      but eugh.

These big discontinuations are so stressful

    6. I'm in the same boat. The Muhwa is such a unique sculpt and was always something I considered getting, but with no space for it atm, I'm really frustrated. Since I don't need a faceup I think I can get by with buying it secondhand eventually, but I want it in the brown skin so I don't know if I should just go for it now or wait and see if I can find it later.

To be honest, I'm surprised it was on the list. I always thought it was pretty popular.

    7. It saddens me that KDF Hodoo, one of the classic KDF sculpts and my first BJD since 2008, is also on the chopping block (open eyed, dreamy-eyed, and HDF version). Although I already have the open-eyed version along with the additional dreaming head, yeah, still a bummer. :(

    8. I feel this way too about Lemon. She was my first brand new doll since 2010 (I’ve had some other second hand dolls though) and I’ve loved her since her release in 2009.

When I got my first Luts doll, KDF Bory, she came with a promo catalog and Lemon is featured in there, among others. Lemon always stood out to me. I’m really happy I managed to get her before her discontinuation, but it’s still so sad to see her go.

Seeing all these old sculpts get discontinued is really hitting me pretty sorely. It was nice to come back to the hobby after a long hiatus and still see so many of their old sculpts around — so nostalgic! But now they’re going away :(

    9. My plan is to get Coco and Woori and if possible get some heads to swap around. This is such a blow to the hobby.

    10. Hopping on here since I'm considering grabbing a Kiwi before she's gone forever and was wonder if anyone here had input on the pretty body (7 and 9) and their poseability. I have the discontinued type 3 classic body on my Nana and the type 2 boy multibody on my Bory and they both have the leg post engineering so I was curious about the active body technology. Other than the wider leg motion is there any difference in how the dolls poses, either positively or negatively?

    11. I have the active version of the pretty body. I don't find it very helpful honestly. The legs are pulled together by stringing so close, you can't stand the doll well. (the strings pull them so close you can not change that the feet touch each other)
If you re-string (change the over cross stringing to straight) you can stand them nicely, but can hardly get them to sit anymore. Because then the strings don't want to go into the slits for sitting. They can sit but it's a fight and fumbling.
I don't know if it can be made better with sueding or such but I was very pissed to have that been called "active body"

Is there any kdf body option that moves okay? I need some information for the discontinuation sale :sweat

    12. The problem with the pretty body is the shape of the hip joint socks. They do not really allow for the legs to be spread regardless of the hip bars. That's why the 'active' version just doesn't work *_*. On the other hand the KDF muse body was specifically designed so it can spread it's legs.

I own almost all of the different KDF bodies amd none of them are amazing posers. Tbh if the KDF 1 girl body had double jointed legs it would be my favorite by far. But unfortunately she doesn't. So I guess KDF muse is my favorite when it comes to posing.

    13. Honestly I feel that, I really kind of dislike the torso piece being cut directly under the breasts, I like the cut at the waist which is why I have the type three body on my Nana, but having single jointed arms and legs was a bummer.

    14. I just ordered a KDF type 1 girl body, as someone who's restrung a lot of dolls, I couldn't see the logic in the other lines jointing. I own a muse body, and it's okay. Honestly most my MSD's pose kind of awkwardly. The good old type 1 + double joints in most companies renditions seem to do the best in my experience.

    15. Luts has just posted on X here that they will be selling discontinued heads separately!!!

    16. It's so tempting but I have 16 floating heads and 3 floating bodies as it is haha

    17. Hi everyone! Hopping on this thread after the recent news, it’s so sad to see so many lovely sculpts going at once. Personally this news has me picking up a Pepper, he was one of those ‘maybe someday’ dolls, and it looks like today’s that day lol. I know times are tough and the news is relatively sudden, but I hope everyone’s able to get their ‘must haves’ from luts :3nodding:

    18. Does it say when it starts and how to order? I'm not on twitx anymore and it won't translate for me.

    19. It already started. Just search the sculpt name to find the head listing and add that to cart and purchase as normal. The discount only applies to full dolls.

    20. You can find the discontinued heads if you go to the Limited Edition Menu, and under the 25th anniversary there's an option for 25th anniversary sale and they're all listed there. The 20% discount doesn't apply to the heads though, only the full doll
