1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Luts Smokey Quartz MiniFe Shiwoo

Aug 13, 2010

    1. what a cutie, I'm glad to hear that Luts has permission from Fl and that this boy's release wasn't some awful stab back at FL for the breakaway incident.

He's nice, future congrats to the lucky 5 who get him :)

    2. Five O_O. I really like him now that I've seen more pics, but I'm not sure I even want to be on the Internet when he goes up for sale *L*.

Good luck to the brave hunters! I hope we get at least one on DoA so we can all see the spam :).

    3. Oh wow only five @__@
Well, I agree; hopefully we get at least one here on DoA~!

    4. Five? Looks like I'm going to have to recruit me some help to catch this little fella!

    5. Fairyland are the most "ok with it" company out there, I sincerely doubt that they'd have kicked up a fuss over this for any reason even if Luts did indeed do as appears and withhold old stock for a later LE release without either notifying them or asking permission. Luts on the other hand...the Breakaway was a prime example of just how charming they can be. As you said, it vanished from Fairyland pretty quickly didn't it.

Has anyone had an actual statement out of Luts yet that I missed?

    6. I think that's one of the best things about Australia. We're an hour or two different from most of the doll companies.

    7. I just... I don't really know how to feel about this. It feels very 'off' to me.
While Shiwoos may have been called 'Siwoo's in the past, they haven't been referred to as such in a long time. It all seems very deliberate to me as 'revenge' to the whole Fairyland Breakaway incident *pets her poor, blameless Breakaway head </3*. Why else would they be selling them as art dolls at a super high price instead of returning them like they were supposed to? Luts has lost even more of my respect on this. Not sure I'll be doing business with them in the future now. :sigh Here's hoping there's a really good explanation behind this.

Fairyland did say that it was old stock they had expected to have returned to them, I don't think it could be much more clear than that. Fairyland is pretty accommodating and non-confrontational, they removed their Feeple Breakaways pretty quickly when Luts raised a big stink about it, even though they'd said they were going to make it a standard sculpt.

That said, the tan 'Siwoo's themselves are probably in good shape if Luts is selling them, maybe there were more of them that didn't pass muster (heck, there could be some frankindollies put together from the best surviving parts).
As I understand with my own forays into doll sculpting and my research into casting, tan resin is notoriously unstable, since red pigments are usually the first to fade over time (think of those faded flags you've seen flapping around after being exposed to the elements for a few years). Plus, the more pigment you add, the pigment to resin ratio goes up, leaving less resin. Considering how dark the CP tan is, it makes perfect sense if they're a little more brittle than the normal or beautywhite skin versions.

In any case, I hope people don't harbor any negative feelings towards the dolls themselves, or those who buy them. Also hoping they get/got snapped up by people who really want them and not dolly scalpers. :/

    8. My non conspiritorial theory is because Fairyland doesn't sell tan, (and they state that quite emphatically- yes, chocopuki are a bit of a contridiction to that...) so they'd simply be destroyed if they were returned, rather than allowed for sale where collectors could love them to teeny tiny shiwoo bits.
Makers get very fond of their creations, and I personally think Fairyland would kinda prefer them sold than destoryed.

    9. I asked myself the same question... does Luts say anything about releasing a MNF again?!

    10. I wish you guys the best in getting him. GOOD LUCK.

    11. Hmmm, I asked something along the lines of that when I made an inquiry and this was the response:

      Do we have a running count of how many are actually participating in the hunt for this rare species of tanned Shiwoo? I know of two for certain that have posted in this thread, one of them being myself. >>;

    12. I'm either the second, or will be the third ;)

    13. You were the second. Good luck! :)

    14. I just don't get the "only five" bit. Wouldn't Luts benefit from selling more than five? What do limiteds/"Delf Arts" normally go for as far as amounts being released?

Doesn't Cerebrus Project sculpt the MnF Shiwoo anyway? Shouldn't they have the first say about it? Whether Luts or Fairyland sells him, it doesn't matter to me. Blah.

But five!? C'mon Luts! You're killing me! :...( *grabby hands for tan Shiwoo*

    15. There was talk that it is very likely these are leftover Shiwoos from whatever project that they were doing. So likely they are not newly casted but there were only five to begin with?

    16. I just can't imagine Luts having produced five tan Shiwoos back in the day and then stopped the project. Luts knows tan dolls are a favorite, so I don't get why these Shiwoos would be old. Maybe they had an old Shiwoo or mold from back in the day and threw in a batch of tan resin to make the five? Dunno.

    17. I would very much doubt that Luts still has any of the casts or molds. Fairyland would have them, and since CP did all the casting - as they still do, Luts wouldn't have cast them themselves.

That's why I expect that they are left overs. Probably originally meant to be released along with something like the MNF Vampire Elf Lishe - which was never released when they split.

    18. Delf Art numbers can be as small as 3 or 5, some have gone greater, but that's definitely in-line for a Delf Art release. They are beautiful works, and I sincerely hope all 5 of them go to ardent collectors who, ahem, will do many photo-stories with them! ^ ^

      .hlp

    19. Ah, okay. I wasn't sure how many usually were sold in Delf Art releases, cause they're usually sold out when I see them. XD But I remember that the Cyber Bohemian Shiwoo was for sale for quite some time, making me think he was a bigger release.

I just can't picture five tan MnF Shiwoos abandoned in the Luts workshop for years until someone's like "Oh hey, look what I found. Let's make some limiteds." Poor little guys. >o< I'm just glad they're being sold now.

    20. I also think they might have been prototype casts kept in "file" Five is a pretty normal number to test cast something in. If all five turned out well.... they no longer sell minifee, so they have no need to keep them on file...
