Man Parts - How Important Are They?

Feb 22, 2012

    1. Importance: The sculpting itself isn't important, but it is important to me that the "manhood" be at least present if it's a male doll, or I'll have a hard time thinking of the doll as "male" or "gendered."

Censoring: I would prefer to see less censoring (and more full-body nude and wigless photos in general), because it's just a piece of resin, not a real person, and it's fair to us as consumers to show us everything of what we're buying. Censorship of the man parts (or woman parts, as the case may be) annoys me just as much as only showing headshots, or only showing them in the over-the-top fullset outfit, or only overly-photoshopped pictures from a single angle. None of them give us the full story on a very expensive product.

Purchase decisions: I haven't been turned off, no; the face and overall look are most important, as generally he'll be clothed. It'd be nice to see better sculpting, but it's neither a deal-maker or a deal-breaker.

    2. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

If it interferes with their clothing off it goes, LOL! My Dream Realm guy actually has one that extends and retracts. I thought it was broken when he arrived. But now I just put a piece of tape over it to keep it retracted. I have noticed one odd thing, though. All my Korean made guys are molded to the body and circumcised. All my Chinese made boys are like whoah, creative. Seriously thought, my last two guys, I don't even know where their 'packages' are. Somewhere in the bottom of the doll bin still in the wrapping.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

No because everyone likes a surprise when they buy a doll, right? I censor crotches on my blog when it's a case of OMG it's right there, but only because some people are offended and it's a business. I think that's why the companies do it, it's a business and you can lose potential customers that way. Someone's auntie might not buy that doll for a younger niece or something because he's hung like a farm animal.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

*snorks* yeah, I ALMOST didn't buy my ZiLong. They made his kilt way too see through when they put up the company pictures of him. But who could resist that smile? I think I prefer the calmer molded to the body sculpts. Like, yeah he's a guy, but not "hey, why is that doll so happy?"

    3. Its not important, in fact its a little odd. Just because I don't see any reason for it other than it to be complete anatomically. My ringdoll sol, as many know, but I found out after purchase, can be posed as happy/calm. Its a bit odd to me. Since I don't see my self moving or messing with it.

I know somewhere out there someone is probably attracted to dolls so maybe they would apricate it. Its not my fetish. Lol
So when buying I guess it doesn't matter since clothes cover up anyways. But if it looks abnormal I will be a bit put off or find the sculpt slightly unattractive. What really matter to me is the rest of the body. But most importantly the head.

When people sensor the penis I get a bit upset since this should be an adult hobby and its art. Its not a real penis, nor is it presented porngraphically.

    4. Yes, I heard that about Ringdoll, and Spiritdoll Proud men have magnetic bits too. Honestly, for me that would be a reason not to buy a Spiritdoll Proud male body, because when you remove those boys' trousers, sometimes their male parts come off XD. I have only one adult male character in my crew, but I can't bear to think how mortified he would be if his bits fell off, so I definitely wouldn't do that to him. Imagine losing or mislaying the poor man's penis... Seriously. Spiritdoll bodies are lovely though, so I guess there is always superglue... :P

I don't particularly care about the degree of definition of a doll's man bits, but I do like the boys to have boy parts. Not that I'm very likely to photograph them naked as soon as they have clothes - but it's the thought. No weird Ken-like nether regions for my boys, thanks.

    5. uhm not to sound pervy but i think genitals are a nice touch as opposed to the censored dolls i grew up with~
i wont have a male for a long time but when i do i dont foresee myself having a problem with it and if it is i mean... just move it out of the away ?

      duh

    6. Most of them can't just be moved out of the way. They are part of the doll.

    7. well i keep reading that sometimes the manparts are magnetic so thats what im going by :u

    8. That's honestly rather uncommon; most of them are just part of the sculpt and aren't going anywhere without modding the doll.

    9. I don't care one way or another. It's just a part of the anatomy like any other part.

    10. I actually don't mind those parts as long as they don't move, I actually was planning on buying a Sol until I knew his parts were jointed. That turn me so off of the doll, and actually made kind of angry that they don't say it in the site, I had to see a body review to notice that. On that note I am kind of against the censorship of the dolls, you need to know what are you buying and that includes those parts.

    11. I forget which company it's from but my friend has a male that came with "5" man bits... in various states ... even a smallish one for better clothing fit (I call that one 'damn it's cold' size ;p). The site even pictures this body (in the full setting pics) using images of bondage O_o that was a bit much for me... I get that some people might want to do that with their dolls but to use bondage (in full bondage fashions including whips) that is a bit much for advertising. And you don't want to know about the text advert faux paus ><. I was speechless on hearing about it...

But in general I find it 'amusing/funny' more than anything. Although I wouldn't have minded a removable one on my zenith... he is rather ... large and some of his pants might fit better if it came off? Iplehouse deliberately made their manbits on the small side for that reason (sadly it looks a bit on the smallish side for such a masculine sculpt overall).

    12. Importance: It only becomes important to me when it's unrealistic. I realize that if they are uhm, too large there might be clothing fit issues. But some of the SD dolls I have seen pics of nude it looks soooo ridiculous, it makes an issue out of it just by trying to be "discreet". Surely there's a compromise. I actually think Spiritdoll and Loongsoul come to a good comp by having a selection to choose from - esp with Spiritdoll because they also give you the option to have it fixed on so that every one should be happy with one of their options. Censoring: Annoys me to no end. What other purchase would I make without seeing full pictures? I also hate how a lot of companies only want to show these really fogged up glossed up photoshopped pic's of their dolls - I think full disclosure should include nude front / back wigless / eyeless straight on and profile shots. If you are offended by something on the web, do not go to that site. Nudity is not something that should be that big of an issue in a non-adult fashion. And no, I don't think that being naked is automatically an adult situation - we all have bodies, we're born with them ;)

Purchasing decisions: I def want to see what I'm paying tons of money for. What if it's horrible and awkward? Like the person who found out the ringdoll Sol "extended" - this is something you would WANT to know before you did a box opening with say, your super shy mother. Why would a company feel the need to hide this? I mean, at least have it be an easy option to say, enter your email addy and get an automated email sent back out with uncensored pics. I was super super embarrassed to write MoC and ask to see uncensored pics of Loongsoul Farkas, but I sure the heck didn't want the surprise of something I hated five or six months and almost a thousand dollars down the line...

    13. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

I don't really care about what they look like as long as they're actually there. It's not like I'm going to take nude shots, but they need to fill out pants a little bit.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

Upset is a strong word, but yes, I would prefer they not be censored. I want to be able to see all of what I am purchasing. I mean, some dolls have penis joints.. and other odd things. I'd like to know about that before I buy the doll. I had a friend buy one once where the penis was one that came off. When she opened the box, there was a hole where the penis should have been, her not knowing it was in a little baggy. That's pretty traumatic!

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

Yes. If people sand off the doll's junk, all thoughts that I might want that doll go out the window. I've had that happen before while looking at second-hand dolls. Nothing turns me off of a doll faster.

    14. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

Not really something I care about. It's nothing that will bother me as long as it's not too big so it will have issues with pants or really misshaped.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

No, it's their choice. But I don't like when they are censoring so you can't see the lower torso joints and so on. But then again, I'm not going to complain about it. But when it is censored I feel that is less of an artistic work. I've seen so many artistic photographs of naked men without any censor that it feels so private with the censoring.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

Nope, never happened yet. I hope that I'll never be that picky about this kind of thing either. :sweat

    15. excuse me. im terribly sorry. it just sounded like magnetic penises were the norm.
i didnt mean to offend anyone or be rude, i really thought that was normal :v

    16. I'm used to Barbies, other male fashion dolls. The fact that my male BJD actually has genitals amuses me to no end. I'm not used to it at all. I don't think my fashion guys are any less male for not having them but I do enjoy that my BJD is anatomically correct. It's fun but I don't care. If they came sans genitals I'd still like them. They're dolls.

    17. Don't worry, you weren't offensive or rude! You just didn't know; there are some that are magnetic or jointed, but it's not overly common at all.

And unfortunately companies that do use those practices are just as bad at censoring and hiding the penises as any others, so without forums like this it's hard to know what you're getting into, too, which is something I'd really like to see companies remedying. It's not a real person, it's a resin figure, and I for one would like to know what I'm getting. My doll isn't going to have a blur or a star or a happy face on its crotch, so why does the picture have it?
