Man Parts - How Important Are They?

Feb 22, 2012

    1. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

Not really important. I mean, that they possess one adds to the realism, so I like that... but the focus of my doll is not, and should not be his.... bits.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

Nah. They do it either for legal reasons or personal reasons. I respect those reasons.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

Well, I have yet to make a purchase, but the look of a male doll's male parts have in no way influenced my decisions. I mean, most of them all look exactly the same and serve no other purpose but to say "hey, this doll is a boy and we want him to look like one." And if I think he should have better man parts...well I sculpt some for him. *shrug*

    2. LOL! Well, I agree with you about the size looking strange. It does look a little odd sometimes, but my dolls will never sit there nude, so it really isn't that big of a deal to me...

    3. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
I'm of rather an opposite mind on this matter so I thought I would throw in a very much differing opinion. I currently only have one male doll planned and very much adore Spirit Doll's bodies, however I was very disappointed to find out that opting AGAINST having ANY of the 'Optional Bits" (ie the 3 interchangeable penises) gets you no discount and would result is a doll with a permanent flaccid c*ck.

Mind you I don't want my boy missing a wee-wee because I'm being a prude about it or uncomfortable in any way it's simply that that character does not have one. He is an AI hologram with a male appearance but no physical body or sexual nature.

Thus I would be VERY happy to forgo any male bits at all if it would save me even $20

    4. Why does it matter if his penis is flaccid if you don't want him to have one to begin with?
Even if he is a hologram why can't he be realistic?
The $20 you will just have to get over unfortunately. Just choose the optional bits and then don't put any of them on. Ta da! No dick. Problem solved! ;)

    5. You can also sell any leftover resin bits; people sell odd parts all the time in the marketplace. I think you could easily recoup your $20.

    6. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
Somewhat. I want a penis and testicles on my male dolls, but am not that particular about the sculpt. All of mine are flaccid, but playing with dolls involves imagination. That's part of the fun of it all!

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?
It doesn't bother me, thought I probably wouldn't censor my male doll's pics. We all approach our world from different perspectives, and should respect those differences.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
I have just ordered a male doll to partner with one of my female dolls. I did rule out one sculpt because of man parts, but it was more the whole area between the legs. I can't remember which sculpt it was...just looked ooky.

    7. I really hope you're not an adult, using that word. Seriously.

I like dicks. All male animals, including humans, have one. Get used to it. I own a Spiritdoll body and I get a huge kick out of it, and will probably buy another at some point, option parts and all.

The sculpting doesn't have to be incredibly detailed, but it's appreciated when it is. However, I do browse this forum from work so I don't mind when someone blurs the bits in a thread. I have in fact avoided bodies because I don't like the penis on it, and it's quite possible I might choose one body over the other due to spectacular outdoor plumbing.

I love beautiful dolls, male and female. I love being able to undress them and simply admire how lovely they are. Breasts, hips, muscular chests, sculpted butts and impressive penii, that's what I'm in it for. Period.

Btw, I would pounce on the opportunity to acquire another set of 'option parts,' and I know others who would as well.

    8. To be honest, option parts would be intriguing... I kind of want to get a spirit doll boy partly for the reason of the interchangeable parts... but I actually decided on that particular boy before I even knew they had the option parts... so those were just a neat perk.

Other sculpts like the Soom Idealians-that may not have an option part, but have detail around that area-well it gives an extra realism, and I am a sucker for realism. ...Maybe I care more than I think I do :/

    9. I kinda laughed seeing this discussion. I mean, I might just be weird, but I find some sick humor in discussing male doll-penises in all seriousness >.<
Okay, so, on to the questions

      1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
It's not that big a deal for me. I only have one boy, and he's got a PRETTY nondescript penis, but he's not sitting around nude anyway, and it IS easier to make pants for him if he hasn't got HUGE man-parts that I have to take consideration of when sewing. Plus, he likes to occasionally dress in drag, and thus it's also easier to fit him into tight-fit dresses without it looking too funny.
I WOULDN'T however, have a doll that had no man-parts at all. That would disturb me to no end each time I'd dress him. Like, a girl body with the breasts sanded down wouldn't work for me.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?
Not really. They probably have their reasons, and I'm fine with it. I guess that if you sent them a message asking for a picture, they would be so helpful to their possible buyer as to mail an uncensored picture, and if not, I would be more concerned with the service than the censored pictures ;P

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
No. My characters, which I base my dolls of, all have distinct body shapes and -sizes, but I haven't exactly specified a penis-size. Thus, for me, it's more important that the body, height-wise and build-wise, fits the characters build than how realistic their penis is. After all, when you have a clear idea how of the body must look, how high it should be and that the resin should match the one of the head reasonably well, you can't afford to be choosy.

    10. @ Nihmo as the first line of my post says I was simply offering a very opposing opinion to the one shared by most here.

Incredibly surprised to be asked this on a thread about the arbitrary importance of 'sculpting detail'. The answer is simply that to me it does.
The character does not have any reason TO have a **** or genitals what soever.

In a hobby where I can choose 3 different 'optional' penis positions why can't I choose to have a doll with no penis if such a sculpt exists?

Now am I surprised that Spirit offers no discount? No, they don't charge extra for the bits so it's understandable that opting out saves you nothing.
I was really more surprised i couldn't get my doll dickless for the same price.

    11. There are such sculpts that exist, but I think they're more tiny size than SD/70cm sized. I suppose the reason why you can't have a genderless Spiritdoll is because you would have to mod that area anyway - you'd either need miliput to fill the hole where the options would go, or just sand off it off.

And it's a heck of a lot easier (and cheaper) to sand it off as opposed to fill in the hole (a: you may not have the epoxy already in hand and b: there would be no obvious milliput circle, detracting from the genderless look)

I suppose the reasoning behind Nihmo's thinking (Nihmo, feel free to correct me!!) was that why complain about something if you're just going to remove it anyway?

On the many words to mean penis: I use a variety of words depending on the situation. There's nothing like using a silly word like pee-pee to fully demonstrate how silly the sentence is ;) "GDI stop waving that wang in my face! Put it back on the doll!" We don't have to use 'grown up' words like penis or dick for everything, after all.

    12. No need to get defensive. I was simply asking a question.

What I was asking was (let me try to re-phrase it) if he does not have a penis to begin with but the doll comes with one, why does it matter if it is flaccid or not? You understand my question now?
If the answer is still "just because" then so be it. I'll have to leave my curiosity unsatisfied.

He does not have any reason to have a nose or ears either you now. Just saying. He might as well be a blob. That would be pretty cool. Would save you a lot of money.

Just sand the thing off if it bothers you. Or get used to the idea that even holograms can be realistic.
We all have to make sacrifices in this hobby to either get what we want, or work around problems that come up.
      Good luck!

      Edit:
Ah! Yes adhara you understood me correctly! ^^
I'll leave my answer here anyway.

    13. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
Not that important, really. I think it's interesting to see how the different scupltors handle it. I always laugh at the ones that are just blob-like but that still have a 'hole' at the tip. Really? What's the point of that? I guess it was just easy to do?

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?
It's never upset me, no. A little warning in the title of a gallery thread might be nice in case others are in the room. The NSFW label is very helpful for those browsing at work or in public. Other reasons mentioned by others...some sites delete photos, etc. But I don't really care if people censor or not.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
No, and if I had there would be a handful of mine here now that..wouldn't be. Either because they are ridiculously small, or too big! (I call them zipper-stoppers...they look nice, but they...stop zippers. *coughdollshecough*)

    14. I am 23 in fact and the oldest of 6 kids the youngest of whom is 7.

I happily use words like Dick, penis, peepee, willy, and manhood...but my favorite is C0ck which for some reason is censored here unlike the others listed above.

As adhara said sometimes ya just gotta use the silly ones cause simple fact is, it's funny.

Also I clearly wasn't clear in my own reply to Nihmo
That the **** (<oops used the c-word) is flaccid isn't the issue per say it's that opting out of the OPTIONAL (<-this wording is why this amuses me so) bits automatically defaults to having a fixed penis of any state.

I am accepting that with this doll he's gonna have man bits, it's not THAT big a deal, I was simply trying to point out where some people are focused/obsessed/particular about their doll's junk (another fine euphemism) being accurate there are some that are more inconvenienced that the doll HAS to HAVE said bits

    15. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

It's not, really. I prefer that they have something there -- when the rest of the sculpt is very detailed, it seems a bit strange to suddenly have nothing. However, they don't really spend time stark naked, so it's not a part of the sculpt that I worry too much about in terms of detail. Same goes for girl dolls too.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

No, I don't really care one way or another. Some of the little images companies use to censor are amusing, though.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

Nope, it's not a deal breaker for me.

    16. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
Not that important, if that is the only part about him that I don't like then it won't stop me from buying them. It's funny having a doll who is well hung, though. I have an AOD MSD, and boy is hung like an SD. He has gotten pantsed at so many doll meets. Good thing he is a bit of an exhibitionist.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?
It does bother me. If I am buying something I want to be able to see all of it!

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
Nope. I was a little hesitant when I found out a doll I really like has "option parts", but in the end it doesn't matter. Worst that will happen is that his junk will end up as fridge magnets :P

    17. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

They aren't really, but I've come to realize I'd find it really weird if they didn't. It's just something I've become accustomed to, and I guess I like them to have manly bits. I don't have a preference for level of realism (I really don't care).

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

I think it's a bit silly, but it's not upsetting.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

Nope. There are dolls on my wish list with incredible detailed and erm...detachable man bits and dolls with small or just the implication of man bits-- I think of them as something that just goes along with the doll, and I'm more interested in faces anyway.

      Fridge magnets...:P Love it.

    18. Nice! What a conversation starter that would turn out to be! "Oh, what a lovely...Wait, wha....? Is that a....?" :o

I'm not really sure where I stand on the whole option parts debate. I looked up the Spiritdoll ones and they still seemed...ill proportioned...in relation to the doll, at least to me. I don't know why, but for some reason I don't like the idea of having any sort removeable parts on my doll.

    19. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
It depends on the character. The one I have planned is a bit of a big prettyboy, so I'm opting for a beautifully detailed animal down there since I kinda plan on doing nudes of him.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?
It's understandable for members to do it. Companies, on the other hand, it'd really satiate my curiosity if they were able to show it. I'd have to go around websites and search for uncensored versions if they were released then.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
Yes and no, I guess. I want a Spiritdoll for obvious reasons, but I'm just a sucker for amazing sculpts period. If it doesn't look anatomically correct for the character, then I probably won't buy it.

I had to laugh at the fridge magnets bit. xD

    20. I would like it to be proportional to the age of the doll sculpt but It isn't important. I am more interested in Face and body sculpting looking right and having good detail.

And I do get very frustrated when the whole body is not shown or the "parts" are omitted. I think if you are selling this product it should have many images from all different angles and good detail shots. Especially for the Price they are.

I have yet to buy my own doll but the one I do want is Pixiu and I am actually happy he doesn't have full sculpting because If I want to have him be fully dragon without clothes I don't have to slap a loincloth over him.
