Man Parts - How Important Are They?

Feb 22, 2012

    1. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

It's not important to me in the least as long as they have one. I also dislike grown lady dolls that don't have breasts, they just don't look right.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

Not being able to see inanimate reproductive bits does not upset me.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

No, I didn't realize Ces had man parts until he got here. I do shy away from girl dolls with massive/no breasts though.

    2. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
Not that important. I don't want to take photos of them naked, so it doesn't have to be that detailed. I do however want them to have something more than just a bulge there, since BJDs are very detailed in every aspect already. ^^

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?
It doesn't bother me, if they don't and I'm not upset about it, if they do. I understand that some people have a different view on nakedness, including dolls. Sometimes people use icons/pictures as censors and that's really funny. ^^

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
This was never really a thing I based my decision on. ^^

    3. It's of zero importance, unless they're somehow large and/or awkward enough to get in the way of posing. That seems pretty rare, though.

    4. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
It's very important for me they have manhood! If I get a male doll, I want everything which makes a man out of the resin - but it's not important for me how detailled it is sculpted or how long it is. Most important is, it shouldn't limit the way they can pose.
Even all my boys are wearing pants, I want to be sure they are male and have the necessary proof.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

It only bothers me if a company censores it. I want to see what I get, and every inch of it.
I don't care if owners do this, I understand it is sometimes difficult when they are uploading the pictures on servers who don't allow it.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
No. Even sometimes the man parts looked quite silly and laughable sculptured. My boys all wear pants anyway. But I think I won't purchase a male BJD it they had zero manhood.

    5. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

Well, it is a little important to me-- though how important depends on the character of the doll. For instance, Vince isn't really going to 'use' his, and so it's really only important to me that he has one, since he's male, but it needn't be detailed. Billy is even less important, he spends no time naked (unless I'm in the process of making him pants or something), and he's a tiny. But, when I get my big guys, whose characters have partners and love lives and feelings about their own genitals, a little penile sculpting is not too much to ask.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

Well, while I certainly understand the various reasons behind censoring, it can be a little annoying to me if I want to see how a complete body sculpt looks, and some types of censoring are distracting/visually weird. And, I guess the whole concept is a little weird to me. I know I'm not the first to say it's like blurring a picture of a sculpture. As censor methods go, a little picture of a leaf kind of does tickle me, so to speak... other methods are more likely to bug me.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

No, though it does factor into consideration, it's never been the deciding factor (again, so far I have only smaller guys, and I don't want massively manly detail on, say, Vince). I've been known to admire or to shake my head over different pictures. It's a part of the sculpt, and therefore a part of the purchasing decision, but it certainly isn't the most important. If something was really weirdly outside the aesthetic of the rest of the doll, it would give me pause-- like the 'tic-tac' dick on an otherwise highly realistic body. And if it was a doll who would for one reason or another be spending a lot of time naked, then I would have to weigh that a little more carefully.

Cut or uncut I would like to say doesn't matter... except that when it comes to those characters, yes, I know even those details. But if the face and the rest of the body were perfect and the penis wasn't, I think I could get over it. (luckily, so far it looks like the bodies I have in mind *coughcough* suit the characters well enough) Again, that's a consideration that matters more with larger adult guys that I'm in the process of saving for, and not for my minis and tiny, who really only need enough to signify their sex.

      =^__^=

    6. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
It would be weird to have nothing there at all like Barbie's Ken, but I don't pay much attention to it either.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?
I've never seen that as far as I can recall, but it doesn't bother me. I'm no prude, but this really comes down to personal taste. lt's a non-issue to me.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
No. I did see something cool from an enginnering standpoint by Spirit Doll, but it wouldn't sway or dissuade me from buying their males.

    7. This is so interesting, LOL, I thought I was the only one who was slightly miffed about this.
Honestly, the only time it bothers me is when people tell me my doll looks like a girl, and I have to "prove" to them that he is INDEED a man. It's kind of embarrassing when your doll only has a small lump of resin that looks like an after thought. I agree with the whole "it would get in the way of the joints" point. Because, well, genitals would indeed get in the way of posing. All in all, however, it doesn't really bother me. Genitals don't really define gender for me... I've had a boy character on a girl body before, and it was all good. So I'm rather indifferent, really.

    8. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
I like my dolls to be anatomically correct, especially SDs. I don't mind the shape so much as the size. I do like it to look realistic but it's not something I'm overly bothered about.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?
Eh, I don't get it, I guess. It bugs me when the companies censor their males' man bits, though. If I'm buying your doll I kind of want to see all of it...

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
      Not yet.

    9. I'm pretty new to the hobby, and the issue of male parts haven't entered the equasion yet. However, now that I've read all of this, and really considered... I think I'll stick with girl dolls! lol
      So much to learn!

    10. The problem there is that just because HumanA has decided that SculptA is a child/preteen and SculptB is an Adult, doesn't mean that HumanB or HumanC will. HumanB has decided that this will be an Adult and HumanC just doesn't care. I have MSD's and I wish to anything that my Dollzone and DollFamily had a little more mature sculpting because they're adults. And their trouser snake looks more like a tictac than anything really. -_-;

      Onward to the actual questions now. I just was that and kind of head-tilted. Sorry, I'm not nitpicking I swear. ^-^;

      1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

Not so much. After all, as I said, two of my guys are adults and it looks like a tictac... Which is odd, but it doesn't stop me from stripping them down when I'm sewing and leaving them sitting around naked for a couple of days while I work. They'll deal. My two RS bodies, it doesn't have much detail, but its passable.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

On doll company photos sometimes it does if it obscures something in the thigh joint, like if it has mobility joints or not, but the fact that they sensor the poor things bits doesn't bother me. On personal photos I understand due to photo restrictions on hosting sites. I use photobucket and they've taken down a strung up doll shin part. I was like "Wut? But its a LEG. Its not even scandalous!" But meh. You do what you do.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

I have not, thought I have seen an EID in person and felt very bad for him. Big smexy manry doll.... Very sad bits. I'm hoping that he's a grower and not a shower apparently, because that would be sad. I do have to say that I want one of the Spiritdoll bodies. XD Option bits make me smile and I want to use the body for a key rack. >-> I know, how worthwhile. I want a $500 key rack. But hey, it would be FUNNY. I wasn't sure what I'd do with the rest but now...

MAGNETS. BRILLIANT. Yep, that's where they'd go now.

    11. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

Not terribly important. My dolls are always clothed. At any rate, I don't have any "adult" boys so what they have is fine.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

No, especially in regards to forum members. I understand that not everyone is looking at DoA on their own. I don't think work is the best place to have any sort of bidness out on your computer screen UNLESS your job involves working with nude figures!

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

No. It doesn't bother me if an "adult" doll doesn't seem to have much going on. I just assume he's a grower, grin and giggle a little, and move on. I'm interested in the doll's face, over all body, and posing. He's going to be covered (I love men, but I think the male form looks best when clothed) anyway so it really doesn't matter! I do think that a doll sculpted to be an adult or an otherwise realistic sculpt ought to have *some* sort of detail to it. Grower or not.

    12. I once saw a video on youtube of an unboxing of a guy doll (a proper BJD) that had a JOINTED penis, hinged like a brass knocker on a door.

      I can't even!

    13. Y'know.... Technically.... ALL of the doll parts (arms, legs, heads, feet, etc...) ARE removable! Even the eyes. Hmm~ How does THAT make you feel? XD I'm totally understanding where you're coming from btw, but it just had me going "Hmmmmm~" for a moment.

    14. To be honest most sites put a blur over the 'man parts' so until I came to den of angels I usually had no way of seeing beforehand what they would look like.

When I got my first BJD I had no idea his parts would be sculpted. I expected him to look like a Ken doll! I was really surprised.

My next doll was a Ringdoll Sol, which has WORKING MAN PARTS. XD It just kept getting better and better. ROFL

But seriously, I wouldn't reject a male doll because his man parts weren't well sculpted. My dolls are never naked. But I most definitely would reject a male if his torso wasn't ripped and manly and beautiful. The ones with the very flat chests that look prepubescent really turn me off. If I had to, I'd just buy a head and put it on another body rather than buy a 'little boy' body.

    15. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?

Much as others have said, this isn't an issue for me unless it's outlandishly large. Because I don't do anything with my dolls nude (that sounds funny xD) It really doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?

It doesn't upset me. I understand why they do it, and it's not a relevant part of the doll for me. Unless I am changing their clothes, my dolls are always clothed--the men at least wearing pants or boxers.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?

      Nope :D

Interesting topic, though. I never even though of this!

    16. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting? It's very important to me that my male dolls have realistically sculpted nethers. Unless I'm planning to make a eunuch (which I doubt I ever will) I want him to have all of his business.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts? I find it a little irritating when the company has no pictures but I don't care if owners censor. I don't really care about size when I'm buying, but I would like to know how the artist designed things.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts? Just those dolls who have nothing sculpted at all. I know I'd be the only one who knew there was nothing in his pants, but it's bugged me since Ken dolls and it does dissuade me from going for gender-neutral crotches.

    17. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
Considering the fact that the anatomical-correctness is one of the things that really sets BJDs apart and makes them interesting for me, it's pretty important! As Linteia mentioned, I put up with plenty smoothed-crotched Ken dolls and the like, and so it's refreshing to have boys that are, well, actually boys. It'd just be awkward, if so much attention was paid to the parts on female dolls, but then the guys were just glossed over like that.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?
It's a little annoying, yeah. In all honesty, this isn't really a hobby for kids. And besides that, it's not like any of the things they're blurring out are pornographic, or even (in most cases) terrifyingly realistic. I know that with all my boys, anyway, it's just a little bump of resin. I think people make it out to be worse than it ever even is.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
      Naaahhh. xD Face sculpt's usually the most important buying factor for me, in all honesty. But if it really was something were there just wasn't anything on the poor guy, I'd be a bit hesitant. It'd be a little awkward for me. ^^;

    18. It doesn't bother me at all :sweat my BJD boy is really childish in this way, but I don't mind, I didn't bought him to picture him nude, I bought him to make clothes and just have a pretty doll around

    19. 1. In regards to male BJDs, how important to you is the manhood sculpting?
It's a very good plus. Specially if it's well done.
I'm perfectly fine with tinies not having it, but if the doll is an adult, then I do expect it.

      2. Does it upset you when the BJD company or forum members censor the man parts when posting pictures of male BJD sculpts?
Forum members? not at all. A company? Yes, quite.

      3. Have you ever purchased or decided not to purchase a male BJD sculpt after you saw his man parts?
Often, good bodies have decent looking penises, EXCEPT for Spiritdoll's Elegance boy body... I mean.. what is that? But the body is so amazing I'm going to buy one anyway. So I guess no, "man parts" wouldn't stop me from getting a doll if the rest of the body is amazing.

    20. 1. It is not very important for me but good extra.
      2. No, it does not upret me.
      3. No, I did not. But if my husband see this thing, he would not like it :)
