@kimlouiseb You will be so glad you got that face up. It was very hard to do the face-up on Joy. The eyelashes and even placing the eyes were difficult and frustrating! I didn't have any choice though because I got Joy here on the MP. She was brand new but the seller had ordered her blank. I just ordered a Feline and I made sure to get a face-up. Maskcat's face-ups are very nice in my opinion.
@Dollquest well, about that. Because the weather was delaying things, they offered a refund on the face up and I took it as I was impatient. I may regret that. :-) I'm going to keep it very simple, but any tips would be great. Exciting news about Feline - did you order direct from Maskcat?
I did order straight from Maskcat. You can do the face-up! It will be tiny, but if you keep it simple, it will work out. The dolls are beautiful. They don’t need much!
My Inez arrived today. She was in stock and ordered via the website on September 30th. Posted out on the 18th October and recieved in the UK today. I was really impressed with FedEx delivery - speedwise and tracking wise. I love her so much - she is so petite and adorable, I keep picking her up and playing with her. Will share photos once her face up is done.
Has anyone left eyelashes off their dolls if doing their own face up? And if not, what kind of lashes have you used? I'm going to attempt Inez's face up tomorrow and know that eyelashes are going to be super fiddly.
For my Joy, I just made a super simplified face up, with no lashes and no individual eyebrow hairs, I just blocked them in with pastels. I do intend to make her a more detailed face up if the day comes when I know who she actually is, but for now the current one is ok. The face is so very tiny and the sculpt is so well defined, that she really doesn't need much.
I did not make individual eyebrow hair lines either. I barely made lower eyelashes. I did add eyelashes. I chose ones for the smallest dolls I had and even then trimmed them a little. I used a wooden tooth pick to help place them as well as one of those magnifying glasses with a light on a stand. It was tedious but it worked. They eyes I used did not have a pin on the back and they were really hard to place. I got a little too much blush on her forehead and it will eventually probably annoy me enough to redo it. Here's my girl - still not sure of a name yet. But she is going to be a hedge witch. The plan is to have a whole crew of them - all mature tinies, and hopefully a diorama at some point. I'm not sure if this wig is staying but I prefer it to the one that came with her. It was $4 from Aliexpress and fits really well. I'm pretty pleased with her face up but will probably redo it in the future. 20211024_155002 by Kim Irwin, on Flickr 20211024_155039 by Kim Irwin, on Flickr 20211024_155151 by Kim Irwin, on Flickr
@kimlouiseb I think she looks very natural and at ease with nature - perfect for a hedge witch. I like her face-up a lot! I especially like the freckles.
@kimlouiseb She turned out very cute. @Oliveoil Yes, I know, and I am really glad I already have a bunch of Blythe patterns. They're on the blog, in case anyone is interested.
I love the hedge witch idea, Ive always wanted to do something like that but finding the right clothes/wig for it is tough
I love my Inez so much I have ordered Feline for Christmas (thanks to my husband). She was in stock on the website - so dangerous.
