Mature 1/6 Dolls - part 3

Mar 3, 2020

    1. My 15cm guys wear Picco Neemo and PukiFee clothes although the 'pants' are really shorts on them.

    2. Illarion (my 15cm) is still naked as is his partner, Mau-Sekh (a 3D printed cat boy). I intend to make them clothes but it's on The List and said list is rather long. I did manage to make Illarion a ventilated wig though and I'm quite pleased with the results considering it's the first time I've ever done a wig that way.

    3. I also have two 15cm Granado guys. They have some board shorts made for dollhouse dolls that are just a bit short but still look good.

Granado also does awesome faceups on these little guys!

    4. Oh, those 15cm guys look amazing! I didn't know they did them that small - that's about 1/12 scale, right?

    5. I believe so. He's basically the height of a standard pen, if that. I bought mine when they were first released with the holy night package so he came with flat feet, heel feet and ballet feet, another pair of hands posed differently and he's got 3 different boy bits. Given the size of the boy bits (about the size of a grain of rice) and despite them being attached with an S-hook, I'm probably never going to change it. My guy has the open eyes and is currently wearing 2.5mm nail gems as eyes.

    6. I have a Xagadoll Cyrus (the Red Obsidian 27cm size) and he wears a mishmash of clothing from Ken dolls, Fashion Royalty Homme dolls, and Momoko dolls. Some Ken-sized things are a bit too big - it depends how muscular the Ken in question was - but most of them will work.

    7. I personally found my Xagadoll Ken the easiest of my mature 1/6 boys to dress--most playline fashion doll clothes fit them so it's pretty straightforward finding things. Sometimes a bit baggy but rarely "a child dressed up like Daddy" baggy. Especially easy with SHOES, which is a blessing my Granado boys do not afford me (much as I love and adore them).

    8. @Iron_Dog Nail gems as eyes? The effect of that must be amazing! Also that sizing is so small; I would be so worried about losing something. Perhaps I'll stick with the 30cm scale. Though, I will admit, the 15cm sounds so compelling.

@Gallye Funnily enough, Cyrus is the exact sculpt I was looking at! But I must thank you and @Idoru, both of you have given me some good information to consider for a Xaga doll. It's not likely to be any time soon, it's one of those potential doll plans type things, but it's good to have a lot of information to consider first.

    9. The 15Lucent with open eyes takes 2mm (according to Granado) but they can go up to 3mm although that's pushing it a little. I'd conservatively say 2.75mm is probably the largest to aim for as there is a little bit of gaping with 3mm because they don't sit quite flush with the eyewell (or at least they don't with my guy).

    10. I have a Xaga Doll Ken and 2 31(ish) Granado guys. All wear 6mm eyes, but the Xaga Doll has a slightly bigger head (easier to wig) and slightly smaller feet (easier to find shoes). I also think Xaga Dolls go better aesthetically with MYou than Granado do. I don't have a MYou yet, but Vieruodis has been on my wish list for a while.

    11. Yeah, I confirm Xaga and Myou are closer in style and "fit" better together. The difference in head size between xaga and granado can make it difficult to take pictures together (I have a boy Sylvia from Xaga, and a Ninth from Granado, and it takes a lot of playing with angles to hide the fact that the Sylvia's head is so big compared to Ninth)

    12. Anyone know the head size the Xagadoll Cyrus?

    13. Cyrus (and similar Red Obsidian dolls) have a head size of about 10cm. I have a 4.5 wig on mine and it's a little loose but not ridiculously so.

    14. Thanks! Next question would be...where do you get wigs? Haven't had a lot of luck in my search.

    15. Wigging the tiny guys in a style that isn't childish.... the struggle is very real. A couple of my guys wear Monique wigs which isn't going to be all that helpful considering they've closed. For the rest, I tend to make them wigs because finding something not childish in style and the colour they need has been difficult.

Illarion (Granado 15Lucent) is wearing a ventilated lace wig I made him. It's not perfect as it was my first ever attempt at one but I'm still very pleased with the results. That's a very time intensive process though. It took me something like 24 hours to make it and I could only work on it for about 2-3 hours at a go before my eyes and hands protested. I intend to make ventilated wigs for my 2 Batchix Clever Littles since getting them a properly fitting wig has been very frustrating.

    16. Nice small and expensive wigs are available on etsy. Wigs made for Pasha sisters dolls work well. I will try to post some of the wigs I have gotten.

    17. Yeah, ordinary boy-short wigs in that size tend to be absurd little bubbles of hair, because the wigmakers put way too much fiber into them. My own collection is a weird conglomeration of Monique, Parabox, Etsy-made wigs in 'Barbie' or 'Fashion Royalty' size, and this one extremely particular variety of Volks mohair wigs (in 'Who's That Girl?' Boyfriend size) that they haven't carried for like ten years, which I still occasionally sigh about. My wiiiiigs.

Technically, wigs made for Obitsu 11 dolls will work, but those tend to be the hair-bubble kind. Depending on the mature tiny, they may also be too small. It's a tossup.

    18. Oh gods, yes, the bubble pouf of hair. I've found that for the smaller wigs (like size 3), they look bulky because of the general thickness of sewn wefts. It's my opinion that going with a hard cap that has hair glued to it reduces that bulk a good bit. I had purchased Monique wigs for my Batchix Clever Littles (just barely a size 3 wig) and while the style and colour was right, the sewn wefts just looked too bulky for their heads. This is also why I intend to vent wigs for them.

While not a tiny, my FL Chicline boy (size 4 head) wears a hard cap wig with the mohair glued to the cap (from an Etsy seller if I'm remembering right) and it's much more natural looking than any of the wefted wigs I've tried on him.

    19. I also endorse the hard-cap wig option, if you can. It can be tricky, because those can need fitting to the head, but if you find one that works it's great. Doll-wig.com also has some long options; I got the "straight for custom" style and it's not bulky at all.

    20. Wigs have been the hardest thing to find - though shoes also count there - so I need to thank people for this information! Going to look at these sites, and then look at how to wig make myself.
