1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Mature 1/6 Dolls - part 3

Mar 3, 2020

    1. She looks lovely! I was interested in both of those girls also, I wish they showed more of what the body is like though. How do you like her posability?

    2. @eldi I would also recommend the review video. I watched it before I got my Bettina and their review covers everything that I could think to say. I don't really have the most varied experience with different brands of bjd, but I feel like myou set the bar high with how well she poses!

Edit: I just checked the link @ResinRapture posted and it wasn't the review I was thinking of, although theirs is good too! If you want a female body review, junkyspot has a good video on YouTube showcasing both the two part and three part body :)

    3. @ResinRapture @paintmeblue Thank you both so much, I'll check those out!

Editing to add this question (copied from the mature 1/8 thread because it's equally relevant here)-

Are there faceup artists who specialize in/are known for work on mature tinies? I figure it might be something that not everyone who works on SD and MSD is into, necessarily.

Would you choose an artist based on their work on larger dolls alone?

    4. @eldi I would look for artists who also do monster high repaints. It's basically the same scale, and they are obviously comfortable with the size.

    5. @ResinRapture oh, that's a good point! I never thought of that

    6. I just got a secondhand Myou Alan and he's so gosh darn pretty that I don't know what to do with him yet! I had thought he looked like a good size match to pal around with my planetdoll Charlie, but LOL, he's so DANG gorgeous that Charlie doesn't want to be near him!
meanwhile I'm finding myself lacking in pretty things for my pretty boy who is too pretty

far too pretty for old Ken shoes and Barbie Jeans, the handmade sweatshirt I think might be the reason he keeps kicking me and collapsing into a graceful heap (kidding, I need to suede him fast! his dramatics are adorable but...)

    7. I know what you mean, my little tan Alan is just so pretty. Congratulations!

    8. riiiight? He's the kind of gorgeous that I remember from when I first found BJDs (so long ago now!) I was captivated by the pretty boy dolls I kept seeing and so frustrated at how BIG they were! Past me is super excited about finding a tiny boy who's the kind of pretty I fell in love with, I just need her to remember what she wanted them for now...

    9. your Alan is gorgeous! i have his cousin Rod and i describe him as pretty too. i joke that he must be a leo, because he's gorgeous, knows it, and loves to flaunt it!

are you sticking with the name Alan or are you thinking on something else?

    10. Where do you get shoes for your dolls, especially those with feet bigger than Blythes? I really don't feel like making my own

    11. I've dug out my Soom fairy Metato head and done a couple quick practice face-up on him while painting other things (because the more distractions the more fun?) and I'm really....having a hard time making him look like he has a personality beyond a doorknob or a wet sock....even when I have him hilariously exaggerated eyebrow expression, he just...I don't know, maybe it's his open mouth that's making him look like a hungover frat boy? the eye shape? I can't seem to infuse any spark into him and it's making me crazy! this is why his head's been in the box and he's been living life as the Headless Horseman since summer! How do I make this gormless little man look like he says more than 'huh?'

oh I don't know about names yet, he's definitely not staying as an Alan though, I had thought Ben after the first BJD I got, but....nothing's sticking to him yet! names are hard! *flop*

I Used to recommend Newlineminiatures shoes, but they sadly closed last year in January! they were the VERY!BEST! of the best of the Boys Shoes!
other than that I search etsy for 1/6 shoes and just obsess over the measurements in the descriptions before I buy anything (sometimes taking a chance!) is there a size foot you're looking to shoe? or a style?

    12. @DaisyDayes I find fussing with the eyebrows in the most subtle ways really helps with that problem! (Although it does sound as if you've tried that...) Some dolls are harder than others with that though... Good luck! Metato is a beautiful face, but it's certainly very... serene?

As for shoes @Viridiansummer , DaisyDayes' method is what I do too, haha. Measure the foot, cross your fingers, hope for the best. Some dolls are easier than others, depending on what you want. We might be able to help you source some shoes in here too! Never hurts to ask. :)

    13. 'Serene' is a much nicer term for his face, thank you! I'll try looking at him that way while he's in process of finding a personality!

    14. My tiny guys tend to wear nice action figure shoes or plastic Mattel Ken ones. I've bought the action figure ones through Cotswold Collectables online.

    15. I have DC small dolls, Wanda and Mini Bella, who are about the same size. Facets by Marcia has some shoes that fit, flat foot Tonner New Mood, and a couple of other dolls. An EBay seller has that same size. Also the 12' Tonner Marly shoes fit.

    16. I just got in a pair of brown workboots from HelloCoolCat on Etsy
Taeyang Doll Boots TY06 series | Etsy

they are....good, they are solidly good but I will forever be in love with and praise the detail and scale work of Newline shoes

Allow me to post a picture to show how very good the HelloCoolCat shoes are, and how flipping AMAZING the Newline Shoes are
(HelloCoolCat in brown, Newline in Black)

[IMG]Shoe comparisons by daisydayes, on Flickr

the Newline shoes have in scale eyelets (grommets? what are the things) and the double row of stitching, there's a very clear left/right orientation that the HCC shoes don't have, and ...now I'm once again sad that Newline is gone! *dramatic goblin fit*

one pair feels like Doll Shoes...the other feels very much like a pair of real boots that was shrunk down by some wonderful magic that I would like to wield

@Leo Pheonix I would love to see/hear more about the Cotswold shoes!!!
(I have a few vintage Ken shoes that I love, too! my favorites are a blue and white sneaker set)
