Mature-looking Mini discussion

Yeah I have a DZ Mo, and the body of him is nice, though not as defined as I would like for a mature character. But it works, he's lovely. XD Girly, but still a boy.

 

I'll submit JID boys, if you do the faceup right, I think they can look very mature 'course, my faceup isn't professional, but still, I adore him.

Check out the Latiblue line. I have two and they can look a little older plus they tend to be on the taller end of MSDs.

 

I was asking pretty much the same question at a German BJD forum a couple of days ago. I want to get a MSD guy that looks between the ages of 17-25. I don't know if that is a little younger than what you had in mind, but someone showed me her over-the-top-handsome Limho Mono. I'm not sure if there are already treads like this, maybe not Iplehouse specific, so if it's not ok, dear admins, please remove or move my post.

I know there are several treads where people are asking if there are any mature looking MSD sized doll. There are many suggestions there, but I'm afraid no "real" mature looking dolls (I don't mean "old" looking, just more grown up). Many companies have released mature bodies for mini dolls already, but still their face sculpts are young kids.
That's why I recently asked Iplehouse, if they ever plan to release such dolls in the future. I thought of Iplehouse first, because I think they always release innovative dolls like their EIDs, the first real mature looking dolls at their release time. Also from their releases you can see so many unique dolls (look at Tedros - I think he is the first REAL man - from body to his face, also the first one who got a beard as company faceup... now followed by other companies).
Imagine a Tedros-like-guy in MSD size! Or a grown up woman like Jessica with all her features, but 43cm in all.

I really love big sized dolls from 70cm and larger, but there are many people who don't have the space for such giants or they don't like handling a large, heavy doll. And some of them would like to get mature dolls, but there are just young kids in this size.
Sure, they might not fit in a regular MSD sized doll family (could look quite weird if you have a sweet little 14year old MSD and there is a much older looking man standing next to him who isn't any taller than the boy), but I'd see them as a stand alone series.

Please tell me what you think of this. Would you buy a mini sized doll which looks like a grown up man or woman? If not, why?

Oh yes, about my question to Iplehouse - they told me that they don't have plans for this yet, but they didn't say they'd never do it one day. I think maybe if there are many people with interest, they might think about it...

 

Have you seen Fairyland's C-line dolls? I think you might like them- they are much more mature than their Minifees, with smaller heads in comparison to the bodies and more adult facial sculpts.

 

I've seen the C-line, they look really good, but I think their proportions are a little like fashion dolls... Next to regular MSDs they look a little Barbie sized. I'm still dreaming of real MSD size but just with mature heads, matching their mature bodies. For example, when I look at MNF they have gorgeous muscular boy bodies, but with their regular heads it looks so strange / young head, mature body.
But still the C-Line is a very good and close step to what I'm looking for - just other proportions would be great!

Iple did their Jid, as "large msd" the only thing they lack are the mature head sculpt, otherwise they would be perfect. maybe ask them if they do one mature mold for that line?

 

I'd love a mature looking mini! I got an Island Wallis, because that was the closest I could find, she has a very young looking face, but she looks mature enough for me, and her body looks really nice I think. IEDs are some of the most beautiful dolls I've seen, so I completely agree that that kind of minis would be fantastic!

 

You know, because with msd sized dolls, heads are so large, and large heads mean younger beings, it kind of looks weird to see a mature head. I've seen minime heads that looked so bizarre! Minis seem to sit in the land of cartoons or something. I've finally stopped fighting it. I've adjusted my eye. Now that the C-line are out, I've simply gotten my "adult-adults" craving satisfied there I now have 3 "sizes" that don't match. Tinies, minis and fashion size. The tinies are little fairies and beings from another dimension, so they can mix with the minis, but I don't ever plan on mixing the c-line with them.

 

Bobobie offers several minis that, in my opinion look very mature- give it a look, you may be surprised.

 

ResinSoul Lan to me looks very adult - again, her head is smaller in proportion to her body than most minis, which adds to the impression of maturity. She's lovely. RS Lu has a similar thing going on, but very much in a fantasy vein.

 

Samantha Herren of Herrendolls is very mature looking, at only 45cm tall. I just recently traded one of my JIDs for one... Gotta have variety, and I wanted a mature looking MSD too!

 

I feel the same way. I love fairyland's dolls, especially the bodies, but the boy faces look too young to me. The c-line heads look too small to me and wouldn't really go with my girls, but its going in the right direction. I just looked at Lester from Soul Doll and he's amazing, but probably a bit big for my mnf girls. So, I've decided to order a boy body from fairyland (and a couple shushu faces) but will use my extra scar face head to sculpt on top of. I think the only issues will be matching the resin color and sculpting the face so it goes with my gals. Hopefully, this will fill my longing for a perfect young man doll.

I would totally buy a doll to match my mnf, but with more masculine features, like a strong jaw line, less chubby cheeks. I don't think this will happen soon, which is why I'm going to go ahead and mod my own.

 

I just got lost in looking for a sculpt with appr. the same measurements as Resinsouls mature msd body. I have some amazing outfits I would love to keep, but I need to find a doll which actually can wear them. Since they are such a tight fit, the margins are very small.
I'm looking for a body (a nice face attached to it would be nice to), that are as slim as the Resinsoul msd girl body. The Bobobie msd body is too "big" to fit into those outfits. With all the new companies I feel I'm getting lost in the information jungle, so any tips or advice would be more than welcome.

 

The slim msd bodies I can think of are Lati blue line girl body, Fairyland MNF body, Asleep Eidolon slim body, and planetdoll body. But I'm not sure of the exact measurements.

 

The Orientdoll MSDs are really slim.

 

Rosette School dolls are extremely slim. They also have extremely long legs though, so may not be to your liking.
