Ugh that sucks! I still haven't decided what I want to do. Though the Marzipan does look a little tan-adjacent in some pics, I think overall, it's a bit too light for me. I might be holding out for Dango when she is released in cookie skin. She's just so stinkin' cute that I almost wanna say "to hell with it" and get her in Marzipan now. But I don't wanna regret it, you know?

My parents said they'd give me a doll related Christmas present and I'm really considering Mousse or Dango

 

Oh, how nice. My mom spoils me but she'd never buy me a doll. She says that's too far, lol. I hope you get the doll of your dreams!

 

Good news! I just got an email back from Nuria of MerryDollRound and there will be a Cookie skin Dango preorder in January or February! So for those of you interested, it's coming soon(ish!)

 

I went ahead and ordered a Marzipan Dango! But I couldn't get the face-up option unfortunately, so I'll have to get someone to paint her!

 

I really wanted to get the marzipan Spring Dango today, but someone already got her. I did get the Cookie Tea Mousse. Yay! I'll have time to get her a wig and clothes before she arrives.

Do Monique wigs fit her? Which size is best? Thanks!

 

I heard someone say that the Monique wigs that were 4 inches were too big. I'm gonna try to make my own. I've done it once before with not too terrible results, so I'm hopeful that it'll be okay.

Well, I just got a blank one, anyway. The face up ones were gone sooo fast! I couldn't believe it. But I'll just have to send her to get painted once she gets here. The cookie tea mousse would have been my second choice! I'll get a cookie mousse some day, though!

 

I absolutely am in love with Mousse in Strawberry skin! I'm seriously considering her for my first doll

 

Thank you (all who posted) for clarification on the thread/hook hands/feet question! I'm glad the new dolls have hooks, since that seems to be a superior and more versatile system.

Out of curiosity, what kind of age does Mousse/Dango come across to you? To me, she has a child-like face, and many people seem to dress their dolls in youthful fashions (so cute!), but because the doll also has slight curves, it seems she could also be treated as older, like a teenager or even a young adult.

It's an interesting question to me because of comparing her with other mature tinies that are taller and seem more obviously mature (Limhwa YouTo Sarah, etc.), and wondering what age she could play to their adult age. Either way, she's cute, though!

 

@StellaMarigold I plan on making my Dango a 21 year old. I've seen Mousse represented as both very young (maybe young adolescent) and as a young woman. Also, people have used her to represent a fairy of some type (so in that case she could be very old).

When I look at a doll, I don't necsssarily see them as one age. I have MSDs that are meant to represent older teens, while some people might look at them and see 12-year olds.

Because Mousse and Dango both have boobs and developed hips though, the youngest I would personally see them as is 12-13, I think.

 

@StellaMarigold In my opinion, both sculpts look about maybe like 14-15 years old. Some people make their characters fairies and make them really old, which is such a neat idea!

If I had a Mousse/Dango, I would see her around 14-15, I think. Young enough to wear cute clothes, but old enough to suit the body. The ancient fairy idea is quite appealing, too (it's like Doctor Who!).

I know the "age" of a doll can alter dramatically depending on the faceup, wig, and even eyes. I'm sometimes amazed at how different the same doll can look styled by different owners.

 

It seems many of the clothes that fit her are young. What brand of mature clothes for her is available? I'd love to dress her as a teenager.

 

I honestly think that there are a good bit of Blythe clothes out there that are definitely in the more teenager like range. I would definitely check out Etsy and see what kinda of stuff that they have there.

(I feel like I keep saying this, but for the benefit of others I'll repeat it! I'm not a spokesperson for AncientTales, I've just been studying their eyes recently!)

Anyway, AncientTales on Etsy has 4mm eyes in natural colors! I haven't ordered any yet, but I know at least one dollmaker said they were of good quality.

They have 6mm, but these are 4mm with 1.5mm iris/pupils:
Doll eyes 4 mm ball, ~1,5 mm iris. Urethane small BJD eyes 4mm. RESIN ooak doll eyes,. BJD doll eyes. 2 mm. Handmade tiny bjd eyes.

Edited to add: these eyes have long stems, but the seller told me they could be clipped shorter with s sharp tool.

 

I have some on order. My mouse needs better eyes than the ones I found in my very old stock.
