Migidoll General Discussion, Pt. 4

Hey all, just wondering when was the last time Migidoll (re)released their older sculpts for Style65? - such as Miho, Han, Yujin. (Not the cynical versions.) I'm looking at G.Miho on Migi's website, who looks like a 68cm sculpt, but can't really tell if he's identical to Miho.

I've been out of the BJD game for a while and would like to get a Migidoll (finally) in tan skin - and wondering when's the next opportunity for these older sculpts. Thanks!

 

Sorry for the double post. This news seems to have flown under the radar, so I thought I'd give a heads up...

Migidoll is discontinuing the 65cm Guy body (ver.2). It's currently on sale at 40% off and will be on sale until all stock is exhausted, no idea when that will be. Here's their announcement notice, made on 9 November.

I made an order for the body in normal skin, plus his option hands. I want this body for a hybrid. Seems like Migidoll is leaving the 65cm boy space and focusing on taller ones -- which I'm sad about, since I much prefer 60-65cm boys. I suppose if they revive all the OG heads (like Ryu, Miho, Cho, Owen, etc), it'll be for taller bodies.

Edited to add... hours after I made this post, my order is being shipped - 4 days after I placed it. So it seems that Migidoll is shipping out remainder stock of the Guy body, instead of casting them to order. Now's a good time to snag one of them.

 

After seeing @aihre's post about Migi discontinuing the 65cm body I decided to buy two. I need one for my Enzo head, and another just because. Hopefully at least one of my floating heads will work on the body.

Anyway, I ordered on the 9th, and just got a shipping notice. Either the bodies are already in stock, or they're expediting production. So, if anyone has need for a body quickly this might be the time to act.

Shipping was steep though, for both bodies I paid almost as much as I would have to buy a third body at the discounted price.

 

I ordered the 65cm body on 1 Dec, my proxy (I bought through a Korean shopping service) received it on 5 Dec, shipped it out to me on 7 Dec, and I received it today 14 Dec. Its CoA number is formed a bit like a date, if I treat it as a date it's 30 Nov 2022... that might be the date the body was fully ready for sale? So Migidoll might still be casting them currently? But the turnaround was extremely fast so I suspect this is existing stock, who knows when production will fully end.

My shipping for a single doll was almost half of the discounted doll price (that's what my proxy charged me). This is to Australia though - I imagine it would cost more to ship to North America.

I have some box opening photos and comments here on the waiting room thread. I'm happy I managed to get it for my planned hybrid boy - but now I have to buy his head. XD

 

@aihre Great that you also got your dolls so quickly!

 

So cross I missed that. I decided not to shell the character I bought the Enzo head for as him, so now I'm not as hard set on a body for him without abs. Money's been tight so that would have been wonderful.

Ah shucks. I hadn't actually tried choosing a color. I just assumed they'd removed them once they were gone.

 

Successfully got both my Migi boys on SD13B bodies. Goodbye, six pack!!

Ryu's head didn't have much mobility, so I made him a leather disc for his neck and it's helping a bit. The disc is also leaving dandruff flakes on his shirt, for realism. Miho didn't have any issues with that.

Tune in next year when I finally get them out of faux fur wigs... or not!!

 

Have you tried silicone discs, @nyaaain ?

 

@Koma I have KIPS in my SD and they are truly a blessing! I just don't have any extras so the leather scraps I have sitting around will have to work until I get more. I've also seen pleather discs used but they have that wonderful issue with disintegration.

 

Does anyone happen to know how the current "sugar white" matches the older (2010+ not the a/b types) WS?

Trying to figure out what bodies might be a semi decent resin match for a limited Noel head

 

According to Migidoll's announcement here, yes - sugar white is the same as the 2010-onwards "white".

Hi there~ I'm thinking about finally getting my Noel head a Grace63 body (she's been without one since 2013, after I fell out of the hobby).
Does anyone know what type of White Skin matches the old White Skin Type A? I'm thinking Milk might match since it's the lightest but I figure it's better to be safe than sorry^^"

 

I just got an email from Migidoll that the Awesome75, Awesome68, and Graceful63 body are going on sale from July 14 to 24.

 

Ooh, I love my Grace63 body - I'm tempted to pick up another. It's a shame neither white matches Volks, or I'd seriously consider upgrading my Oscar.

 

A bit belated but here's the resin match between my Mu and Volks SD13 NS body! First is in sunlight, second is in shade, third is inside light. The resin match is very good. The Volks body is very slightly yellower, but it's pretty much unnoticeable.
