What a lovely company of beautiful girls is here! It's really a pleasure to see that this wonderful sculpt is rare, but not too rare! It seems that my Rustam is the only boy in this gang DSC_4261 by Peregrina Tyss, on Flickr
Samson, that is a wonderful face-up and great photos too. Rustam, Wow, Dandelion makes terrific boy. Very cute outfit on him too.
A lot of lovely Dandelions in this thread! I bought one of the original ones with the company face-up but being new to the hobby at the time, and not very savvy, I made what I now consider to be the mistake of getting her in Oriental French resin. She is the only doll I have who has noticeably yellowed. Plus I wasn't as careful with faceups back then so hers has become scuffed. I know I'm going to have to send her off for a new face one of these days and am wondering if I should include the body, if an entire blushing might tone down the yellow. Has anyone had any experience with this? I really have to make up my mind about the face-up too. I've seen so many lovely creative ones but I also like the simplicity of the original--so many decisions. Here she is in an earlier photo. Gilberte by Nadine, on Flickr
Phanuel, I purchased my first Dandelion from Dollfair (the store that took money for Bimong's dolls but did not send the dolls) and I was lucky that I got my Dandelion. She too is in the French resin but I love the cream color she has become. She is very even in color and an uneven yellowing would be a concern. Some French resin can become yellow with a touch of green but that has not happened with my girl. Mo Manning did her face-up and added rosy cheeks. Here is my much loved Dandelion.
Your girl is lovely, jo! I just took mine out of her box to take a second look and she may not be as bad as I was picturing her in my mind, but I'd say she is less creamy than yours, more golden, and also even in tone. But she will have to get a new face-up one of these days and I'll have to decide where I want to go with it.
Phanuel, I love the French resin even if does mellow with age. You might try some different color wigs to make her color look more natural. I find red frequently looks good on mellowed dolls. jo1961, Your girl is beautiful!
Super excited to join this thread. (and see some familiar faces) I've loved Dandelion since I started the hobby (only 3 years ago) and the timing was never right to buy her. So I'm super ecstatic to have stumbled on the sales event going on right now. I had to hold myself back from buying twins AND a Narae. By the way...s there a reason the Bimong sculpts are broken into different threads? Is it just legacy or is there another differentiator between the Narae's & Dandelion? Just curious. Also I guess my girl will be a bit of a misfit since I'll want to put her on a slightly larger SD body which means she'll size out of this thread. Boo...
Congratulations on getting a Dandelion! Perhaps she got a separate thread because she is not the same scale as the MSD Naraes. Perhaps she could join the SD Narae thread when she gets a taller body!
Ahaha...thanks for that. I was looking between the threads and measurements and getting completely lost. Gotta admit laziness here. Plus I love all of them, the Naraes, Meronica, Dandelion...it's all like candy! Meanwhile I'm going to hunt for the bigger doll thread for Bimong as well as more reading. Such history with these dolls.
Here's the SD thread! Narae and Narin 60cm Discussion part 2. | Page 7 | Den of Angels The search on the new forum is harder to use.
Super! Thanks...I guess you could sense my wonky search tactics. Who knows I may get lazy and just leave her be. We'll see what she and the others think when she gets home. Such a newb in the world of mini's.
I won't be alone haha. It's such a bummer though because it's nice to see all of the makers works together especially if a thread is vibrant otherwise it feels a little bit like being on an island 100 yards off shore. What kind of body are you thinking of? And by the way do the other Bimong bodies work for Dandelion? Like could she be put in the volume body for example?
Personally, I would be happy to see the taller Dandelions here! I don't think the volume body would work. /it is the same as the regular body except for the bust size.
Ah got it...thanks Nancy. Darnit...I was contemplating a little switcheroo if a slightly taller Bimong body would work. Well I'm hoping shipping is as quick as everyone says it is. That would be amazing if I could squeeze her in with another commission request I have pending and not have to wait another month or so. I'll be excited to share her here. Her face at least.
