Mirodoll Mini Discussion Thread

Thanks so much, Marika! The eyes in the photo are the ones Mirodoll sent with her head. I ordered some blue ones for her because I thought they would look good with the wig I have on the way, but I also really like these yellowish ones. I might order another wig sometime to compliment them!

@Ladyzentra I'm sorry to hear your 1/4 body didn't work out the way you planned. :/ Like Marika said, I hope you can find another use for it.

Part of my latest Mirodoll order actually didn't work out as I had planned. The 1/4 shoes that I ordered for my Yaya were WAY too big! I guess I'll just keep them for another doll, lol. Does anyone know what kind of shoes would fit her?

 

@amye.miller I bought a 1/4 white boot from Alice's Collections and it was perfect for my 1/4 girl Lili. Did you order the shoes from Miro? I did and it was slightly bigger but it has strap so it still works. Maybe socks/leggings might help?

 

@neko.yuki Thanks for the suggestion! I will look into Alice's Collections. The shoes were from Miro. They were the 01 shoes. I haven't tried them on with socks yet. Maybe they won't look quite so bad once my socks arrive, lol.

 

Is it possible for some owners to do a 1/4 girl body video review?

 

Anyone know if Miro's lilac would match Bobobie lilac? I've been restless about my girl's barely-posable body. The most posable one BBB/RS has is the Rong body, but it doesn't have a thigh joint, which is something I really want! Miro has a 1/4 girl body with thigh joints so I was thinking about taking advantage of their sale and snagging a body. I'll probably do it regardless since they're so cheap right now but if anyone knows about this it would be super helpful!

 

Miro has two 1/4 girl bodies, the old and the new, Cherryquf. I'm not much of a video maker myself, but it might help to know which body you're meaning.

TheBodyVolvanic, The old Miro 1/4 is really small apparently, like not standard at all. There's a comparison with with a Bobobie body HERE.
You might want to check if the size is right for your head before buying anything. The new 1/4 one is rather a standard size, a bit shorter, but does not have a thigh joint, so I'm assuming you're considering the old one. Miro does do custom resin match service, but they're not always 100% spot on. The Miro new 1/4 that I have is not the best poser either, if you're looking for a really good one. It's ok when sueded and wired, and mine has then been able to do pretty much anything I've wanted it to, but it takes some work.

 

Ummm, I guess whatever the Lili sculpt comes with. I do not have much information about this girl, so I am not sure if she is in the mew body or not. Considering that she's going for $90, she might be in the old body. So if you don't mind reviewing the old body, that would be very nice

 

I see. Lili defaults with the new 1/4 body, Cherryquf. My Lili and Yaya in my photos both have the new body, so if you scroll back and see some of them it might give you an idea of what she can do. I don't do videos, but in my estimation it's a pretty standard poser. It does the basic poses, standing, sitting and such perfectly fine.The mid torso joint is really good and holds poses well, it can slouch and bend back beautifully. With sueding and wiring, the legs and arms are improved a lot. The double jointed arms do not hold very well and legs tend to be a bit swingy. Wiring helps the arms and sueding the leg wells and re-stringing with a thicker string and tighter helps the legs.

The old 1/4 girl body is whole different thing. It's really small and I would not recommend it for most standard 1/4 heads. It does not work particularly well for Lili and Yaya either. I don't have it, but it's more mature and I think it's more suited for fashion BJDs than normal MSD scale dolls.

 

Yepp I'm looking at the old one Dx I saw the comparison, yeah it's crazy small. Idk, might just try it anyway if I have the extra money lol.

 

I have a few hybrid Chicline/Mirodoll dolls. Two boys and one girl. I was able to clothe the guys just fine, but I am at a loss at finding clothes to fit my girl. She is on the older, busty body. Most MSD sized pants are just too wide for her, especially in the waist. Would anyone have any idea of what would fit, or where to get it? I have one more Chicline girl head to get a body for, but would like to wait until I have a clue what to dress her in...

 

@Blankqueen: I have been rather successful with both the Dollmore fashion doll clothes and the Tonner Matt clothes on my hybrid boys. I am not sure about my first Mirodoll hybrid girl girl. I did buy some things from Dollmore and I hope to have some answers soon.

 

Just ordered my Lili! >w< She'll be my first BJD and I'm so, so excited! I thought I'd need to wait months to get my first doll, given the $300 price tags I was looking at, and because I thought that a cheap doll (like Lili) wouldn't be worth it. But this thread and all your beautiful dolls (and how happy you are with them) changed my mind! I went ahead and bought her and I'm super looking forward to working on her.

 

Just wanted to share some more pictures of Joan. I still haven't received the outfit I ordered for her, but in the meantime I'm making due with other clothing/accessories.

Thanks so much, Marika! Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take any photos today, so that might have to wait until Friday or the weekend. They are coming though! Lol. And yes! I did make the hat. One of my Middie Blythes was wearing it, but Joan is borrowing it for now. I think I'm going to make a hat especially for her when I have the time.

 

My Lili arrived safe and sound earlier this week after a brief DHL mishap (she was sent to the wrong state by accident). I adore her! I'm so surprised by how nicely sculpted her body is, I guess I was expecting something completely smooth and more like a Barbie doll, given how cheap she was? But the 1/4 body is nice, I can't get over how cute her knees, legs, and tummy are. She came with super cute light green eyes, too. I love the color and might actually keep them for her instead of switching them out for the turquoise ones I ordered.

She's SO tightly strung, though! She can't keep her legs straight without help, and can't stand at all. She kicks back into an almost fetal position automatically. I don't even know if I can get her head off to restring her... will the elastic loosen up naturally a bit over time, or will I have to wrestle her apart to restring?

 

Here's my Lili at last! Her name is Bergamot (I wanted to keep a plant name and ended up going for the "oddest" one I found) and she just got her wig in the mail ten minutes ago~



I got this wig (it's a Punkmomo light blonde from someone on eBay) as a like, impulse buy/backup but i think it suits her really well! It might be her default instead of the original one on its way. Her style is very mori, partly because I think it's cute and partly because it's sooo easy to sew for. xD The "dress" is just a skirt I made hiked up over her chest, but she'll be getting a real dress within a few days. It's kind of weird/fun thinking "I want to finish my studying for finals early so that I can sew"....

@neko.yuki Your girl is SO sweet! I adore that wig on her! Somehow she gets cuter every time I see her!

@amye.miller the hat you made is so cute I wish I can sew or make sth for my doll huhu I'm planning to make a simple flower crown hopefully I won't fail this XD
