1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Misty Blue Elf Kumi - Yellowing Alert!

Apr 13, 2007

    1. toydogz4: I don't think they willr efund you, unfortunately, but like Jibrille has said, it wouldn't be too hard to sell her/him in the marketplace, and you may still fall in love with her/him.

If I had one of these colours.. I may just feel inclined to place her nude in the sun, flip both sides just to get it over with *_* I hate uneven colouring!

    2. maybe the color differnce depends on how thick the resin is on differnt parts?

    3. I really requested the refund more as a statement to the company that this problem is unacceptable. An apology and explanation that they intend to test the resin better in the future would be nice, and I can accept a mistake on their part, but the response of "keeping it in the box" just burns me.
I am glad that there are those who it doesn't bother, and reselling really isn't the issue right now, (hope I don't lose too much money!), but I wanted to register my dissatisfaction with Bambicrony and their product.

    4. As promised - here are pics of my Misty Blue Kumi with ViYa faceup.

Here she is when I first got her:

And here she is now. It's not drastic - but I notice it. Not sure if it comes through in the photos. Before I might have been able to pass her off as "blueish green" but now she's just "green". I love her either way though.

    5. I'm glad that ViYa used green paint for her face-up - because it goes with her skin color as the blue fades out.

    6. Makes one wonder if they knew about the fade to green problem. I've seen the Viya faceups they are more on the greener tone for the blue elves

    7. :ablink:  :nowords: :horror: hope these emoticons express how I feel.

      that's a horrible thought, Aree :(

    8. I am still waiting on a LSG Pepe. It only says "money received" in my Order Status so far.

I have left a message on BC's Q&A board--asking about color change and saying that I'd prefer to wait until they make sure the color does not change right away. So I don't have to bond with a doll that will change. I doubt they will do this, but since they won't accept cancellation of orders at this point--and because I DO like the elves and the colors--I want to try and do SOMETHING.

I already have a MB Kumi that I am feeling quite sick about. I love her, but she's wrapped up in a blanket right now and I have a feeling that this won't even help keep her from fading.

With another colored elf still coming, I don't know what to do... aside from worry more! :(

    9. april- i have had my LSG pepe for almost a month and she hasn't changed colors at all. She hasn't really been in the sun yet though (due to rain, rain and more rain in oregon). She is in my room where sun comes through the window but the blinds are usually down.

    10. My Pepe is still the same exact color as she was when she got here, as are my gray Roko and pink Pepe. Of course, that color is the greener one shown in Dena's pictures, but at least it's been consistent. Mine was one of the later ones that arrived, so perhaps that's the color the Misty Blue settles to?

    11. The thing to keep in mind about Dena's pictures is that the first one was taken under different lighting conditions (interior plus flash) than the others (natural indirect light), which means you can't really compare these as apples to apples.

My little guy still looks bluer under flash than he does under natural light.

I'm not saying Dena's lovely little Kumi hasn't faded a bit, but that we can't really judge the degree of fading based on these pictures.

    12. what's really bugging me is wondering how much they are going to yellow eventually. How yellow will they be in a year? will they stop yellowing at some point and stay whatever greenish color?

I'm kinda with the one person who said "maybe we should just take them outside and get it over with". I'm extremely sad that I'm so afraid to take my doll outside or let ANY light touch her.

personally, I feel like I either need to decide to take her outside, and let her yellow AND HOPE DESPERATELY that the yellowing stablelizes at some point.
OR I need to sell her. This kidglove thing just isn't for me. Either way I am sad.

    13. Maybe you should just take her around as you normally would and see what happens?

People seem pretty happy to buy them on the 2nd hand market, despite yellowing... so if she does start to yellow in a manner you can't stand, then sell her.

But at this point, I'd hate for this color shift to be ok, or stabilize... and have people regretting selling their dolls so hastily if you're really on the fence about it.

    14. If my MP Kumi turns peach, I won't mind so much ... espically if she arrives as that hot pink color. Am really hoping for a strawberry milkshake pink like in the promo pics, but we'll see.

But if she yellows and turns ORANGE ... eugh! Don't know what I'll do at that point! Maybe I can have my artist friend blush her back to pink? I dunno. It gives me headaches and anxiety attacks to think about it. Bambicrony needs to pay for my xanax, LOL.

Aimee: I think your MB Roko is a sweetheart. If you start to seriously think about re-selling her, please keep me in mind. It would be a shame if you had to re-sell her, though ... you were so excited when she arrived! And the pics you took of her really show how much you love her.

From the pictures I've seen so far as evidence, I honestly think that it's just the dye setting and fading, and that it will eventually stop and stay whatever color it fades to.

I have come to the conclusion that I will NOT keep my doll in her box, no matter what. I bought her to be my little angel sitting by my bedside in hard times, and a wee little one to take with me to my appointments and surgeries. If she fades, so be it. If she yellows, I'll figure something out somehow.

    15. Jibrille, I don't think that she will ever turn orange, that would be quite extreme.
My blue Pepe has sat in a sunny window, and been outside, and baked in the sun at a meetup for three hours. She hasn't changed at all, and I have checked. That's good news right?

    16. Except you were the (only?) one that wanted her to change colors, and even get spots, if I remember right!
I really hope my elf doesn't change much, I really like these critters, that's why I bought one of each! And no reply from Bambicrony at all yet, ah well, didn't actually think so, but it would have been courteous of them to respond to mine and our concerns.

    17. Maybe I really did get an odd batch of resin then? Because it sounds like yours has seen a heck of a lot more sun than mine has...

    18. You are right, but I am being absolutely honest here, you can even ask people who have seen her at meetups, she' s perfect, not spotted or tan-lined and she is absolutely as blue as the last time you saw her, honest honest honest cross my heart and hope to die! If I didn't love her so much, I would offer to trade her with any discolored ones. BTW, she's still sitting on a sunny spot.
Also you are right, it is rude of them not to reply. Keep it in the box is not an answer is it?
OK, here are a few photos of Shirley, the naked ones were taken today, along with the seated one, and the outside ones are her right out of the box. Her nose was unfortunately damaged because she took a dive into the washing machine, the little miscreant.

    19. Bambicrony said this:
As I told you before, Viya's faceup always finishes with UV-cut coating to remain the faceup longer.
If you want to expose the doll in the sunlight, I recommend you to use Mr. Hobby's UV coating on the head and the body.
We're studying the way to add an UV stabilizer to the resin.
Please cross your fingers for the good result.
      Thanks.

Basically they're saying coat it with MSC UV cut because Mr. Hobby is Mr Super Clear :?

Anyway my doll is coated on the head only with regular MSC. She doesn't look yellow on her head or body and recent comparison to spare hands she's stil the same.

This doll has been to lots of sunny places:
      NY Doll meet March 10
      Philadelphia
      The Cloisters
      NY Doll meet April 14

    20. I wonder if there was just a bad batch?

Mine was ordered February 15th and shipped the next day... so is it just all dolls ordered around that time that are changing?
