Modesty with your dolls.

Sep 20, 2011

    1. It doesn't really suit my doll's character to where scanty clothing (she's really modest and easily embarrassed, so she'd prefer to stay as covered up as possible), but I don't really have any problems with dolls that wear little/no clothing. To be honest, it seems a bit silly to me that people find immodesty to be so disturbing :sweat but that's just me.

    2. It's your doll, just dress her following your own feeling.

    3. Most of my dolls are very modest. That's because the fictional world I've created for them is faux-Victorian, and modesty as a virtue is one of the facets of the society that I'm interested in.

I don't judge anyone else for not having modest dolls, though. If it's anything that bothers me, I'm free to just not view it. Much like no one has to look at my dolls in their layered suits and frilly dresses ;)

    4. My dolls tend to switch from too much exposed to covered up...my girls like their short skirts, but will wear more up top during fall and winter time...(wouldn't want them to get cold) but my my boys normally wear what fits them...(i REALLY need to get/make them more stuff) my MSD boy has been wearing the same stuff since I got him a year ago...since his body is more muscular and I like how his body blushing turned out he wears open front shirts, but for the most part they're kinda like people, wear what's comfortable for that time of the year...

    5. The majority of my BJD's are actually sitting around here having a nudist party because I haven't yet faced them up and dressed them. Nobody seems embarrassed from what I can tell. Only two of my minis are dressed so far.

    6. If it goes with the personality, sure! Guy is not modest at all! He will sit around in his underwear and not have a problem, or be shirtless with his pants unbuttoned (not that I have a problem with that either ;)) On the other hand, my little girl I feel needs to modest as she is a 'little girl' character and wouldn't look proper showing skin.

    7. It should really be up to the doll owner. Dress them in what looks nice on them. If it's a little provocative, well that's alright. As long as it's age appropriate to the doll, it should be fine. Some dolls look good decked out in covering, fluffy dresses and suits, some look good in cleavage baring/unbuttoned tops and short shorts. I think it just depends on what look you're going for your doll.

Since I hope to model my first doll after a character of mine, I would probably dress her in clothes that show off her figure. I'd give her outfits that aren't revealing, but are definitely form-fitting. The character she is based on had a nice figure and liked to flaunt without looking too wild, so covering but tight clothing was just her taste.

    8. Hmmm I'm not really bothered I suppose you would have to show a lot of skin especially if they have tattoos, you need to show those off! I have a weakness for poofy dresses though ;) but I think its great that her features are shown off thats what they are for!

    9. My boy Kell is naked ,or nearly so , most of the time. He likes it that way and I see dolls as art so it doesn't bother me.

    10. I would say my dolls are modestly dressed. I have a couple males that went around shirtless until I found something that suited them, but they always wore pants. My Soom Amber wears her default dress, and my incoming girl will be wearing her default dress until I find her an additional outfit. None of my dolls are scantily dressed in my opinion, but I don't care if I see other dolls showing a lot of skin.

    11. I guess it depends on what kind of bid collector you are. I have friends who have very firm character ideas and dress accordingly to whichever personality the doll has. Or theme.

Personally, I dress my dolls in whatever they want. I bought two JiD's without having any clothes to fit their size so they both sat around naked until my roommate made a snide comment about their "manly bits" so I hand stitched them a pair of boxers and put one of my SD's shirts on them. They do have very nice abs though :P

I usually cover my dolls - unless I'm going for a certain look but it has more to do with each of their own personal styles.

    12. Tonight I was doing a resin comparison shoot with several of my dolls then realized that they were all nude! Now I don't care but it does seem that some people prefer to not view dolly nudity so I ran two ribbons across the line over their various nether regions above and below. As a comparison shot it seemed to make more sense to show more skin so I still achieved that. But I think the whole point of having dolls is to dress them any way that you want. I tend to think of my dolls more as models, they are comfortable without clothes and are ready for dress up when I'm ready.

    13. For me it depends on doll's character. I can imagine my oldest wanting to show off from time to time (especially in summer), while other two are more likely to go for cute/frilly style clothes. ^^

    14. i would agree that it depends on the character. some of my girls prefer comfy casual clothes and i have others that like to show off their skin and even one that is mostly naked but is tattooed so she looks like she's wearing a lace dress.

    15. I think it just depends on the character ^_^ some characters suit very modest clothing, white some would look very nice in more revealing clothing. I think all body sculpts are beautiful in their own way, and it's up to the doll owner to decide how they dress~

    16. I go both ways actually. I like the more elaborate, poofy outfits, as well as not-much-at-all.
My SD girl loves older styles and bustles and that's great.
My large bust EID loved short, tight stuff that showed off her figure.
I don't see a problem either way, and they are my dolls and I can do whatever I want with them :)

    17. Oh gosh, I love Volks Dollfie Dreams- point being, they are fantastic for showing a little skin & some fan service. The cute/sex appeal is a huge selling point for them. It's totally a personal choice that depends on the doll you have and the characters you love. ;)

    18. One of my girls is a rocker and she wears tight torn red checkered leggins and a fairly revealing top. From her waist to just under her bust is visible. And she shows a decent amount of cleavage. However she has a number of tattoos on her belly and I wanted to show them off. She also wears a black leather jacket that she typically wears open. I wanted the rocker look but with a feminine sex appeal as well. She's a 68cm so no chance for the pedo thing. Her band mate wears a sleeveless collared shirt and hot pants (why do they call them pants when they're shorts?). She has very long legs so the shorts accentuate them. Also allowing even more "canvas" for tattoos. Again I was trying to give her the rocker look but still keep a slight feminine look to it. Her boobs are completely covered. She's 65cm

I will never dress my Tinys provocatively. Just will not work for me. I've even bought barbie clothes that I felt were too revealing for them. I don't even like to show their shoulders. In fact, one of mine has been in a long sleeve shirt and a pink corduroy jumper since I've gotten her. She looks like a little girl, is a little girl, and therefore dresses like a little girl.

So the only problem I would have with people dressing dolls provocatively is with regards to tinys. If they're mature looking dolls then they should be able to dress as a mature person would...aka However the Hell they want.

    19. No naked, scantily clad or provocatively posed doll here. My doll prefers to be modestly dressed and refuses to partake in photoshoots of an adult nature. I will respect his wishes.

    20. I only find revealing clothes disturbing on tinies. It reminds me of toddlers and tiara's. I collect yosd mostly and they are mature in their universe, but I still refuse to dress them provocatively or do "sexy" shoots with them. Nope, nope, nope. My zuzu delf is an anthro and could therefore pull of being naked if I blush the body (he has a genderless body) but he is dressed all the time too.

I never let dolls sit naked. When I'm working on clothes, I still cover them up with a cloth or something. Not because I'm disturbed by their bodies, but because it feels demeaning to just let them be there. As if they could get cold or embarrased or something. xD

One time I was having a drink with my friend. We were discussing dolly privates and she mentioned that her DC Bella had a very detailed crotch area. She had brought the Bella with her and I was curious (and allowed) to see. Yet I could not bring myself to yank her panties down. Instead I went through a lot of trouble trying to get a peek without having the doll standing there butt naked. It was the most awkward yet hilarious thing. :p
