1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Moments of Tenderness

Mar 17, 2007

    1. my My mom's passing is what spurred me to get into the hobby finally... I'd wanted to for years but life (and lack of money), prevented it. Mom liked the bjd's too. Near the end we had talked about getting one as a sort of a memorial to her .. haven't found one yet but I will ^^

    2. My husband goes to work early, sometimes he leaves the house at 4:30am while I'm still in bed. Sometimes, he brings a doll in to stay with me. The last couple of times, it's been Luc. It's funny because in character, Luc is my most detached, socially awkward, violent character of them all and in doll form, he has the stiffest, hardest to pose body, but in bed, he just sort of curled up fetal position and laid right against me, extremely cuddly. He's the only character I own who doesn't know how to be affectionate, but the doll is the best to snuggle! Maybe he just needs some love.

    3. My mother and I had been planning on buying a 1/3 Supia MinniFee Lina she said she was going to order it for me for Christmas and she would babysit the doll for me any time once we had her. Sadly my mother passed on December 13th before we could order her. So I know exactly how you feel.

    4. That is such an incredibly sweet story, thank you for sharing! I've not yet had a moment like that but I've not had a deep down swing with my newest doll present, and I think he'll be a big help.

    5. I am sure we will both find the 'perfect' doll that will be a tangible thing we can hold in our hands that embodies the spirits of our mothers...

    6. Yes we will *hugs* thank you for sharing your story and giving me comfort in knowing I am not alone :)

    7. Daw, that's a sweet story, mom's can be the best sometimes~<3

I guess the most 'tender' doll story for me would be when my youngest niece was about 5, she loved my doll Farera (Volks SD10 Nono) very much and would often ask to play with him/her (under supervision of course). One day while my niece was carrying Farera she took a fall and scrapped her knee, Farera took thump on the butt as well, naturally she began crying. Being a master at calming hurt kids I picked-up Farera and handed him/her to my niece and said, "Here, Farera got hurt too, you hold her* while I get you two some Band-Aids", she then quickly stopped sobbing and held Farera very close to her and started soothing the dolls with kisses.

I came back with Band-Aids and patched my niece's knee and even placed one on Farera's little tush (over his/her clothes though), my niece didn't whine or cry at all while I was tending to her, she just kept gently rocking Farera and saying, "Sweet Farera, you ok, no more boo-boos." It was the cutest thing and a helpful distraction for my niece, sometimes dolls can be the best painkillers :kitty2

*My niece always called Farera a girl even though Farera doesn't have a gender.
