1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Most bizarre doll?

Mar 9, 2021

    1. A newer company, Whale Tower, has an MSD girl Abyssia who is part octopus and has a third oversized eye. She is one of the strangest dolls I've seen. The artist is a former artist under Dream Valley.

    2. Dearmine Agrippa Barista comes to mind - it's very cute and not so strange to look at, but the bizarre part to me is the concept of an anthro giraffe BJD that's specifically a barista! Like, they couldn't just leave it at coffee themeing, nah, we got this little guy running the espresso machine. I'm obsessed.

    3. @Leo Pheonix: I recently posted her to my Flickr!

    4. I've always found the Circus Kane dolls pretty bizarre.

    5. It recalls a doll with a lot of eyes on its forehead. OMG!!! I cant stand looking at its picture at all.

    6. The only dolls I really can't handle are the extremely realistic vampires with the open bloody mouth with tongue. I don't mind a vampire doll, but the gore makes my stomach churn. I have to look away whenever I run across it while looking at dolls.

    7. Generally don't find a majority of dolls strange or bizarre, even bjds geared towards horror or gore. There are a few exceptions to that, of course—like Dollzone's Moon and Star. They always remind me of this bizarre, kind of disturbing dream I had some years back.

Ones I do find bizarre would probably be considered mundane or ordinary to others. Young child and baby-like dolls with what I consider mumps cheeks (cheeks puffed out like a chipmunk or a toddler about to throw a tantrum) I find mildly disturbing. I think this might be due to it reminding me of my sister and younger cousins' constant temper tantrums when they were very young.

Any doll with what could even remotely resemble an abuse victim expression. Extremely expressive Angelphillia dolls are especially notorious for this for me, and cause very physical reactions whenever they might pop up in my social feeds.

This one's going to sound strange, but...wide-eyed dolls with small irises. I spent a majority of my younger years having a phobia of being stared at (whether by actual people, posters and even toys with eyes) which still effects me to some degree. Wide-eyed dolls with small irises give off this intense Stephen King 'Children of the Corn' creepy vibe for me, and the smaller irises make it appear like the doll is giving you ire/criticism with their stare.

The last one is probably why I much prefer more realistic bjds over really stylized ones:sweat

    8. I don't see this much any more, but when I first saw BJDs there were dolls with very young child faces and very mature adult bodies. It made me think it would be something a paedophile would like. It made me stay away from even looking at BJDs for a long time, until I finally saw dolls with bodies appropriate to their assumed age. In other words, big boobs on little girls is just sick, in my opinion. I know it comes from Manga, but it still bothers me a lot.

    9. My taste in dolls is pretty vanilla but I can appreciate the artistry that goes into some of the more out there designs. I really like some of the Doll Chateau designs for instance, just not enough to buy haha.

AP 'ahegao' faces are creepy tho.

    10. *snip*

      I too think they're creepy.

But I've always wondered, are there male "ahegao" faced BJDs? If so, does anyone have a link? Just to satisfy my curiosity.

    11. JJ Doll Lab has woman available with a hammerhead shark head and a shark tail. She's pretty bizarre.

    12. I took a look, @Leo Pheonix, and she is a really cool doll! :3nodding:

Oh, I forgot! I meant to show Theodore here. He's a tardigrade. I'm not sure if he's DOA compliant, but here he is.

I'm sure I could make clothes for him, but I kind of like him with the leash and harness.

    13. I have an Akhmel Nathan which is pretty unusual looking although maybe not bizarre. His head is def not human in any way and his wing ears are sculpted "upside down".

I have an Impl Miguel The Demon Hunter and he is very unusual looking because of all the sculpted spikes over his body. I've also metal leafed all those spikes in silver, gold and copper leaf.

I have a SD Vito Azreal The Hierophant skullhead. Only half his face is a skull but it's still pretty unusual looking compared to most dolls.

I have a Soom Vesuvia Poison Kiss (FtM mod) and you don't see a lot of that body.

Blood Wood has a very cool head with a Glasgow smile I'm still managing to talk myself out of buying (so far). They also have some other very unusual sculpts like one with another face coming out of the top of the head and another with sculpted stitching on the forehead. They have a double headed bust stand, too.

JSDoll Shark head is weird with 4 eyes. JSDoll Ice Fish is very cool looking to me but a bit on the bizarre side. I would love to have a NuJiao Chaos (not sure which body version) but I'd need to have her modded to a him.

    14. TW: mentioning CSA and gross dolls that triggered me

I saw some dolls a while back that look like they're based on r*pe porn or body horror movies, that's probably the weirdest thing I've seen and was triggering to see as a csa survivor myself. Visual stimuli is so much more triggering than a small sentence; I wish "Normals" understood that and would stop censoring survivors when we talk about our experiences.

    15. While looking through Instagram, FB groups and Pinterest, I noticed some dolls which are out of my personal beauty standards and therefor interesting nonetheless.
      Half human/half spider for example.
What I already like about this hobby is that there´s a doll for every taste and facet.

    16. I´ve seen Pisyun and it´s a good giggle, indeed, haha! :mwahaha

    17. If this triggers you, I apologize, but what is a "CSA?"

    18. D.Lace Ex Machina. The artist decided to take a doll, make the whole thing Cyberpunk, and every part of the flesh is hinged on and movable to show the android parts underneath. The artist has to do it by hand and it's so tiny and intricate.

    19. Just checked her out and it´s really amazing!
