Most expensive doll in your collection

Mar 18, 2022

    1. My most expensive doll that i owned was a yuki morikawa dollfie. She was 90k yen + customs and shipping.

    2. My most expensive doll that I owned in the past would be a Volks SWD Nana from her I believe 2009 release. She was pretty expensive at the time and to this day the one doll that I regret selling!

    3. In the days before BJD it was a limited edition porcelain doll that i literally starved in order to pay for (I was a student, fell in love with it at a doll fair, and spent half my first term student grant on it, thereby running out of money for essential liek food before the next student grant cheque came in).

In the BJD era, it must be Daisy Bacon, my 80cm Dollmore Lusion Daish, who was nowhere near the price when first released that she would be to buy now, but still the most expensive price I've paid for a doll.

I was drawn to the size (interestingly, close in size to that porcelain doll I starved for) of the Lusions but the "miserable" face-sculpt of the Dahlia didn't interest me, and I said I'd have no hope reesisting if they brought out a neutral or smiley sculpt... then Daish was added to the line (though, if I'd known Lilia would come along later, I'd have waited for her to be released), and I decided to start saving. I had an old savings account I hadn't used in years (well over a decade) becuase it was a convoluted process to transfer money out of the account so thought it would be ideal for setting aside money to save up for my Lusion... Then discoverd that the small amount I'd left in there the last time I'd used the account had accrued enough interest that I already had almost the exact amount neeed to buy the doll! I decided that was A Sighn, and ordered the doll immediately. If I'd thought it through, however, I would have held off ordering for a few months becuase ordering when I did meant she arrived while I was out of the country for six weeks on a long-planned trip. Luckily they let me know tey were almost ready to ship just aftr I startd my trip and I was able to change the delivery address to my workplace and email a colleague to look out for the parcel and keep it sae for me (I forgot to mention the size and she was a little put-out to have to find space for, as she referred to it, "a child sized coffin" in her office unitl I returned).

    4. It's going to be my Volks FCS F-60 SD in Sunlight through an agent. She's probably going to set me back $1000 USD once she's posted, but worth every cent as every part of her from hands to sculpt to faceup was personally chosen by me :love

    5. My most expensive doll is the large (100 cm!) limited mermaid, Dollzone Sawarieda in purple skin. I’ve almost finished paying off her year-long layaway (just one more payment to go!) She came to roughly $1200, but is totally worth it because she’s going to be a grand creative art piece for me…and the final doll of my collection, the grand finale as it were.:)

    6. My Fairyland Feeple60 Alan, because he came as a full set and has tan skin. He was $1067. I usually go for MSD-sized dolls, but I like the smaller SDs fairly well also.

UPDATE 2024: Now a Peakswoods FOC 61cm Dandy Han with the limited "Save Me" special make up and blue gray resin. I looked at the pictures and didn't love them, but had this feeling. I adore him in person!

    7. As far as just outright buying a doll, it would be my secondhand Iplehouse Justin, peach gold, with full blushing and faceup. I paid $725 for him, had buyer's remorse and said I would never pay that much ever again. But recently I realized between four alternate heads and a Luts Muse body, I have over $1200 in my Migidoll Yujin. I just didn't notice because I got the first head and had it on an old body, then upgraded the body, then gradually bought alternate heads over the span of three years, so it was never a huge chunk at once, other than the body.

    8. The most expensive doll I own and will ever own is my Limhwa Limho Mano, I purchased him not too long after he released, but a year or so afterward he was less than half what I paid for him brand spanking new from the artist (not long after that he was discontinued due to unpopularity). So, it stung for a long time that I paid so much for him, when I could have waited and paid much less, and I would never pay so much for a doll ever again (I'll keep repeating this for a bit longer). He came blank, no wig, no eyes, but the pricing was "standard" for single artist dolls back then. Now, there are probably way more expensive artist dolls that come blank as well, but I am not a fan of purchasing what's most expensive, as long I am happy with how the item looks the cost is irrelevant, unless it's an amount that I consider wasteful... I paid 775USD back in 2007 for him, he was my Xmas gift to myself for being such a worthy individual (take my high-levels of old fart sarcasm with two grains of salt!). I kind of regretted the cost for a long time, more so when my friends would tease me that I could own another fat PS3 for his cost alone, which made it more apparent for me how wasteful of a purchase he had been. I wasn't happy with him right out of the box, due to many reasons, but sometime after he became my favored doll of this type, and he kind of still is, despite me not loving huge dolls. So, in the end, he was a worthy purchase, but I would never pay that amount for non-electronic gaming gadgets/toys ever again and haven't done so since him. I rather own a hoard of other stuff than resin BJD, and I'm not planning on getting more so I doubt I'll ever pay any amount close to that for a doll again -- I just hope 1:6 scale action figure prices never reach those heights, or I'll be forced to stop myself from getting any of those as well. DX

    9. My most expensive doll would be my Sweet Gale Cyril. I bought him before the artist re-released a human version of the sculpt, so he was quite rare at the time. And of course I insisted on buying him an expensive body, too. It took me a while to put him together, but he's so worth it.

My Amadiz Minou is the most expensive one I own at 1500 dollars, and I simply got him because he was beautiful. After he arrived, his posing was amazing and I fell in love with him completely right away. Since I bought him, I've spent roughly 300 euros on clothes as well, most minifee sized (oversized look) and three different colorways of the outfit in this photo (https://instagram.com/issyandco) which had to be custom sized.
Never had any regrets -- this doll still brings me so much joy whenever I handle him!

    11. Of my collection as sit stands now, my most expensive bjd would have to be my Dollshe King Corey (for the record: I love this boy, but would absolutely NOT recommend ordering anything from the more likely than not scam artist Dollshe). Ordered him in the no longer produced pricey resin (can't recall what it's specifically called:XD:) in caramel brown on the L4 body. Managed to use to a discount code to reduce the cost by a good sum (this was before all that "final sales" bs Dollshe's been promoting for however many years now), and he still was the highest priced of my crew.

King Corey's only recently been beat by the Lost Chronicles Allurial I've currently got on layaway. Once Allurial arrives, she'll be taking that top spot:kitty2

    12. For a full set doll, limited outfit added on, face up, hand & nail blushing, etc it would be about $2000. That was my peakswoods.

For one order, it would be about $4000-$5000 with multiple dolls and add ons. That was my SartoriaJ order. I buy a lot from SartoriaJ, so I had a lot of those milage point things to discount it and it was an event where there were huge discounts. I got a lot for that cost. I can't recall if it coincided with the Xmas event for vip customers to get just a head order.

For one doll without face up I think about $800 to $1000 depends on size and company, but most likely the size was about 75 cm. That was my idealian.

All of these were with layaways.

For a non-layaway order the most expensive would be about $1500. I think I used pay in 4, but I can't recall.

Oh sorry I read it as what is the most you spent...

I guess then the most expensive doll I own in my collection would be Peakswoods. Even my limited edition idealian wasn't as expensive to my peakswoods, but maybe because he was a LE of 20. He didn't sell for much when I rehomed him. He sold for a a value less than my peakwoods. I don't know why peakswoods cost more than other korean companies dolls. I love their dolls, but can't buy as much from them. If i could buy as much as I wanted from them in one order it would be like 10 dolls.

If we talk about my most expensive doll outfit it would be about in the $1000 range. I only have a few outfits in this range and only because if the layaways. I would neevr spend this much on my own clothing because my dogs would rip my clothes to shreds and I have a habit of ruining my clothes in the laundry.

    13. I think my most expensive is a Fairyland Centaur body and a Fairyline doll to go with it.

    14. My most expensive doll I've ever owned was an Unoa Elder Belia girl with an event set attached. She was great but just not for me, and I eventually sold her. I think if I had strung her tighter I might have gotten more attached, tbh, but I don't regret selling her.

The most expensive doll in my collection right now is my Argo Doll Zet. He's beautiful, wonderful, needs to be sueded a bit, but over all I highly recommend Argo Doll. He was my first SD sculpt that I bought because his face was so lovely, and I am so happy I took that leap.

    15. So far the DollZone MiYou I have on order is my most expensive at $233 with the way I optioned him out (white skin, faceup, no outfit). He hasn't gotten here yet, though. I have got a couple wigs to try on him and a pair of eyes. I like his stock eyes and wig but my budget was tight the month I got him (during the discontinuation sale) and I didn't feel like his outfit sparked $50 of joy when I could get extremely similar outfits for $25 or less (or just make the outfit) so I had to pinch pennies and not spring for the full set.

I'm sure I'll wind up with someone who is more expensive at some point. I have a couple heads that will need bodies, so their cost will probably go up above MiYou once that happens, plus future plans.

    16. My most expensive doll is a fullset Alan from fairyland. A good part of his price comes from the huge shipping fees from denver doll (almost 100euros), and the even bigger tax on it when it arrived to me (200euros if I recall). To be honest, that price has kind of turned me off from the doll, which has not received a lot of love since arriving.
But at least I've learned some valuable lessons about ordering through us resellers (mostly: don't do it if you're not in the US).

    17. My most expensive doll is the fullset Ringdoll Elzevir I got at $702. I really wanted a fullset doll despite how expensive he would be and I don't regret it at all. I'm not terribly fond of his body, but his company face-up and outfit is gorgeous. I was planning to buy a fullset Ringdoll Lexi and he would of been over $800, but his fullset is no longer available :( . I don't feel too bad about spending money on my dolls since I enjoy them so much, but I don't think I'd ever spend over $1000 on a single doll unless I loved it to death.

    18. My most expensive doll is my secondhand Bimong Chuu with multiple hands & feet, who was £515 ($650) including shipping. The head doesn't have a faceup but that was fine with me since I really only wanted the body. Plus, it was already in my country so I didn't have to worry about customs costs or anything like that.

I don't know if I can fully call the 38cm 3-part-torso fusion body a grail body but I had wanted it for a year or so to shell a particular character and it popping up around Christmas felt like a sign. It poses beautifully and I couldn't be happier.

    19. My Irrealdoll Nora turned out to be the most expensive. I bought her new on a convention, straight from the artist.

    20. Shes not in my collection yet but I have a Roze Heln on layaway and I am still shocked by what im willing to spend on a doll. I am very lucky I had the doll funds to buy her but its proof that the dolls really do have all the control haha
