Multiple dolls for one character?

Dec 13, 2009

    1. it is very normal, many of my friends have done that... and they are continue doing that. well money is really a problem, especailly for the hot dolls.

    2. I do not see anything wrong with it at all! I am not sure I would do it myself, however, simply because I want too many dolls for too many characters already! I would rather have more individual characters than multiples of one.

The idea of having a full size and a chibi is too cute, though.

    3. It isn't weird at all and I'm actually planning on this for one of my dolls.

Rene, as a YOSD, looks like a six-year-old and fits in well with her room box but is completely out-of-scale with the doll that is supposed to be her father (who is 70cm!) so they cannot interact. I'm planning on getting a very young looking SD to represent her as an older child/tween so that she won't look out of place in photos with him and she'll be the correct age for some serious character-related things.

There are lots of reasons for people doing this, but for me scaling is the primary issue.

    4. I have a plan for this~ I'm going to get my character Zach (Sam's little brother) as a YoSD and a smaller MSD. My friend Ven also plans on getting the child and older versions of their Iago.

    5. I think that's really cool... If I could afford it, I think I would.. ^^
Instead...my doll right now is suffering from multiple split personality... >.<
Hoping to decide on his character soon~

    6. I've been thinking about this a lot lately, reshelling a doll and keeping the old one too. I still have pretty mixed feelings about it.

    7. I am all about twin set! But I really like the twins that work as one entity. Like the ones in The Shining, maybe.
I don't think there's anything wrong with having two dolls representing the same character at all. This hobby is completely personal and everyone does it differently. Anyone who says it's not ok isn't being a good sport and should probably realise that there's more than one way to go about owning BJDs. I'd personally love to have multiple dolls of the same character. And actually, I do! Just not in BJDs. I collect them for their slight differences. ;)

    8. If u are crazy for that then so am I! I have a few characters that I will have multiple dolls for. Such as my girl takaira. I'm planning on having one doll for when she is a teenager and another for when she is in her twenties. My hitomi is another. She has three different forms: a human, a dragon, and a skeletal. So I will end up with three different dolls just for her. The expense makes me cringe but its worth it! :XD:

    9. If I had the money, I would totally have a SD doll of my MSD boys and vice-versa. I think the idea is cute^^

    10. One of my characters has a great deal of background before she gets lots of scars, and a great deal of story after. So eventually I would like to have two dolls for her, one with scars and one without.

    11. I‘ve dreaming about this for a long time......still saving

    12. I think it's perfectly fine. I mean it's your hobby, you do what you like. I have a doll right now that I'd like to downsize from SD to MSD, but I don't really want to sell my SD so she will become the future version of my MSD girl.

    13. I do this, too :) I have one character who has an older and a younger version, and one character who I reshelled, but I kept the old doll because it's still a gorgeous doll, it's just that it's been 8 years since I bought him and there are now dolls available that fit his character much better. I don't see anything wrong with it, enjoy the hobby in the way you like best ^_^

    14. I never thought of getting the same character in two dolls, thought of it to be a waste.
I'm planing that just right now. Well, they are two different versions of the same character, out of two different universes that mereged into my own world^^.
Loki the nores god will come home soon, hopefully. (~70cm)
Loki the cursed avengers/thor/fantasy/mytologie hybrid with to many personalities to count is my little CostomHouse/Fairyland Hybrid (~29cm)
So yeah, no waste at all.

    15. I have two dolls in multiple versions, my Chicline cat has an SD version so she can interact with my SD sized dolls in that form, and I will be making a slightly smaller, slightly more human version of my Chiron Centaur with my Soom Epidos head on a Resinsoul Mu body.
It's quite hard for the huge bulky centaur to interact with the other dolls and even harder to find good spaces for pictures with them since he is so massive, but as a 60cm-ish boy with hooves he will fit in much better with the other guys.

    16. I think it's fun. Sometimes I think about eventually getting Kali a YoSD to be a cute little chibi version of her. It wouldn't really bother me, since to me the character is just that, a character and not the doll itself, so there could be multiple representations of them.

    17. I think it is fine if that is what you prefer- honestly, I wouldn't! I have so many characters to shell that I don't have enough space nor money to shell one character in multiple dolls.

    18. I really like the thought of having an MSD and a tiny for the same character.
Good for a candid story :3

    19. I have a character in two dolls! He's a 14 year old in one doll and 25 or so in the other. The problem is he is a twin so if I wanted to be accurate I'd have to get both twins in both ages... that probably won't happen.
It's funny because I only thought of doing this after having both head sculpts at home because I simply liked both. But then I started seeing how they kinda look really similar! If I ever win the lottery I'd get both twins in all ages and as YoSD as well!

    20. I've seen a lot o people who have more than one doll for a character, for example, @crackupmadness on IG has some characters who can turn into dragons, and so they have a dragon doll and a human doll. I've also seen many people who have kid versions of their adults characters, so they'll have, like, an SD and a YoSD for the same character. I kinda like this idea :P
