Multiple dolls for one character?

Dec 13, 2009

    1. I actually really like the idea of having different versions of the same doll! For example, my first doll's character, Alice, grew up one hell of a ton since I first got her, and her "doll form" is no longer up to date with the oc- but I just love her so much, so somewhere in the future I'm going to get her (and her brother) a grown-up sd version.

    2. I have 3 versions of my doll Cameron- baby, child and adult. His mother also has a young and middle aged version that I used in a photo story. I think it can be fun to have multiple sculpts that represent the same character.

    3. I think of it like as if you have different figures of the same anime character.. And that's considered normal in the anime figure world. :dance You must adore your bjd character!

    4. I've been sincerely considering getting SD 'versions' of my MSD dolls' characters. I've been thinking about it for a few years now and I think I'm pretty close to finally taking the leap on it for at least one of them and ordering it from the company for my next doll.

    5. I'm planning on doing this, actually! I have a set of 'twins' in tiny form and I am looking for the perfect set of SDs for them as adults. The problem is finding sculpts that look enough alike but also fit my picky criteria.

    6. I didn't tried and never saw other people doing that... but sounds like interesting idea. Only if my wallet allowed them...

    7. I've got 2. Planning on a 3rd. All children plus adults.

    8. Oh whew, I thought I was the only one thinking of getting two heads for the same doll! I thought it'd be nice to have different face up styles on the two heads because I like both styles ^^

    9. I am planning on buying MSD next year to make a child version of one of the doll I'm waiting for >< My character looks kinda different as a child and aaaa I want both big him and small him///

    10. It seems like a perfectly fine thing to me. I don't know why anyone would find that to be wrong, exactly? ^^; I'm actually considering finding another doll somewhere along the line to represent Serenade's human transformation, personally! It's really all up to you and what you want to do! ^_^

    11. I just thought of this today!I kinda want to do that wit one of my characters, but I`m still thinking if I should spent that much money on a character, or use it to do one of my other characters, if that makes any sense.

    12. For me it's totally fine. I have 2 favorites characters and it's impossible to have just one doll for them, so I have 3 differents kind of dolls for both

    13. I think of my dolls as individual characters. Unless the same character had, say, an alter ego or a version that looked really different, I don't think I would get more than one doll to represent the same character. Thus far, each of my dolls is their own character. But if I saw a sculpt that I loved that had a human version and a fantasy version, I might be interested in buying both and making them the same character. :)

    14. I would not be opposed to getting the same character in different dolls for reasons, such as alternate timeline, mirror image, doppelganger, and/or aging. In fact, /technically/ my Aria and Andrew are ... "the same character"--and then they weren't... the Andrew mold character started as a doppelganger just a gender bend but then became his own person through plot. xD

A /really/ good example of same character, multiple dolls would be if you wanted to do all 12/13 Doctors from Doctor Who--or any of the timelords.

    15. He He i have that too
Lets say that your character has the ability to swap bodies at will :P
