The costuming on these adorable baby MYou is just beyond insanely jaw-droppingly-stunning. I don't have any adorable baby MYou to share myself, but I don't want to double post on the mature tiny thread. DX (I know this is a thread for discussing all tiny MYou regardless of proportions, but there's probably a need to have one for the mature ones alone. Just to have a more concise way to look/search for particular MYou tinies) I finally made an accurate outfit for my Ken Kaneki (Tokyou Ghoul) fanart doll. I shared some photos over at the gallery side of the forum -- very repetitive shots, because I have trouble getting my Betina male to stand, let alone pose at all. I might need to wire him soon. I also attempted to make his mask, but I am not anywhere near happy with it as it looks now. I want at least his mask to be semi decent, if I can't do anything else that looks proper for him. Shoes is another reason why I wanted to make this character outfit for him first; he doesn't wear any when he has this outfit on. I am thinking of making his Anteiku uniform, but that'll probably won't turn out nice (I suck at sewing for my larger dolls, it's a miracle anything turns out for this dude, at all!). And maybe I just need to focus on his battle outfit and actually getting those white tiny nylon zippers, I keep forgetting to purchase. n___n;; Ghoul Mask, it might be a bit terrifying for some. As a fan of horror, nothing scares me much, besides aging, but that's another story for another type of forum. (: Spoiler: Mask First Completed Mask, I've made for him. It's not as accurate, and I might have to resort to sculpting it, instead of making it out of fabric, but I wanted to give fabric a try first. I feel his is supposed to be made out of molded rubber or latex. However, there's no way in heck I can do something like that, so I tried a few different fabrics including PVC. All failed, and this one made out of lycra is the only one that kind of "made it" to prototype phase. I haven't even sewn a snap on it, because I really don't feel like it is what it needs to be. DX
I saw you photos on tumblr a while ago, he looks awesome! I had my eyes on the mature tinies for some time but after seeing your Ken Kaneki doll I'm feeling super inspired to actually get one hehe I think he turned out really well
cocoasnail, I always loved MYou facial sculpts, but I am not interested in the baby faced larger dolls. So, when I saw they were making "mature" tinies, I knew I would have to get one eventually. He is my first and only humanoid tiny BJD, so I can't say how they compare to other BJD of similar sizes. However, I love mine, even if his proportions are not my ideal, and sewing for him is a pain and a half. I would purchase him again just the same, if I could travel back in time. The body is beautifully sculpted, and the hands are very nicely detailed. (: werepuppy, thank you very much, for your kind comments. n___n
@Enzyme could you put plastic wrap over their face area and somehow sculpt something with like a thin layer of clay or silicon?
jessholy, I have made masks for some of my other dolls that way in the past, out of different types of clay. I didn't want to go that route with this mask, because Kaneki' s mask wraps around his face and neck. I don't believe there are clays out there that would allow me to do that -- that's why I tried fabric first. I might try foam before I commit to clay, although I never heat-formed foam before. Silicone is too expensive and doesn't last long, particularly if its thin, so I'll probably won't try with that. Thank you very much for your suggestions!
@Enzyme Ah okay...what about paper mache? Just trying to think of something thin...and I dunno if they sell latex in small enough batches for what you need to make like a whole rubbery mask.
jessdholy, I had thought about using paper, but it would probably be fragile. I don't keep my BJD displayed, but naked in their boxes so I need something that will withstand constantly being moved and removed. Thanks again for your suggestions, I literally spent months trying different fabrics to just get a single workiworking proto, that's not good enough. I'll look into latex. (:
juuhachigo, I can't see your photo, but I'm sure your Delphine is beautiful. Congrats on your first BJD. (: I found some micro minis by Toy Hub at the Dollar Tree. They are all over the place when it comes to scale, but I find most probably work well with tini-sized dolls of any genre. I took some photos of my mature tiny Bettina male for scale purposes, on his hands and next to him. He can't hold all of them; I tried placing the chop sticks on his hands, they kept sliding right off. Lol! Some of these are super tiny, but would probably work as sample sizes, or for even smaller dolls, than MYou mature ones. He's in a (brand-new-pair-just-for-him) human sock(s) because I keep all my dolls nude inside their boxes, inside my closet. However, his box is a hard carrying case with a zipper, with no cushioning to speak of (most of my other BJD are ancient and came in soft cardstock/board boxes with at least two pillows!). So, I keep him in a sock to prevent his full body blushing to get too beat up while/when I put him back into his case or take him out for customizing/sewing/photo-taking. Pretty sophisticated and high-tech of me, I know. >__<;;; Spoiler: More photos, in case anyone actually needs more doll in a human sized sock holding tiny miniatures for no reason... I wanted to share these on the general mature tiny dolls' thread, as it probably helps more people that way (at least people who can get to a Dollar Tree and actually find these, which I know can be an ordeal for some!). However, that thread is locked right now, because I guess some people have a hard time reading the rules, and who knows when that'll be unlocked again. Finding branded stuff at the DT can be an ordeal as I said, and some stuff can never be found, so I thought I should share now, while some people might still be able to find these there. I know DT have a few other different branded food miniatures as well, but I have never found any of them sadly. So, I was super excited when I saw these three bags left there. Sadly, for me, I got two sets of the same exact items. I also got the loose ones, as someone greedy stole the rest of them -- each bag comes with eight micro minis, but if you get a set that is a duplicate all of them are the exact same items.
Socks ARE always helpful - you actually gave me an idea here! Your boy and the miniatures are the prettiest thing!!! Also I don't know why I can't post imgur links
juuhachigo, thank you! Some images are too large to display on this forum, so you have to choose a thumbnail size, if you're going with Imgur. Most imgur links are broken at some point regardless. They also move photos around willy-nilly, which really sucks when you have so many on there. Try adding different thumbnail sizes for the links you use here, some of them might work. I can't recall which size is the limit for larger images to display correctly. Hope that helps! (:
oh, thanks, that worked! Spoiler: Some pics of her under here, then! This is the most recent set of clothes I made here and I'm insanely proud of it, along with a summer dress in the same fabric. I decided her default hair colour will be red, and I am switching between this loose Aliexpress hair and... This Fjusuns one, whch might be my favourite, though I should try a way to keep it in better shape and restore that side curl. I loved the style of her original wig, but that colour in real life made her look a little dead XD. Her original eyes were SO cool, but these geen one I think really take the cake. It's so nice to see her character take form. Now I just need to figure out if I want her tan twin sister or her 1/4 version XD
Juuhachigo, I'm glad that worked for you, your Delphine is adorable, as expected! I had to mod my Bettina's eye again, so I thought I would spam him everywhere! I shared a ton more photos on the main gallery, if anyone wants to see more crappy repetitive close ups of his face. I just made his eyes smaller again, but I had to redo the mods, because the other material I thought was a lucky find, wasn't permanent, sadly.
Oh god, you do not realise the full potential of BJDs until you see other people's dolls, he's BEAUTIFUL
A lovely picture of Delphine (MYOU Doudou 1/6) finally spending some time with Frankie, her older sister (1/6 MYOU Delia), who finally has a body Spoiler: Under here because I don't know how big the thumbnail is X°D This is my very first time snapping a decent picture, even!
