I agree with Ayas. This doll is too small for sueding. It would mess with her balance, I think. I restrung mine tightly with some nice jewelry elastic (it was a little thicker than the elastic she came with) and I slid a strips of pipe cleaner in each of her legs. I didn't do her arms, because I wanted her to be heavier in her leg so she would stand better. (mine kept toppling over) Though, I'm sure putting shoes on her feet would help a lot with standing too XDDD but I haven't given her any >O< bad dolly mommy!! Silvestre looks comfy in her new home ^O^/
Ayas-Shadow Thank you! I had some pipe cleaners but they were standard size and wouldn't fit so I stripped the insulation off a roll of speaker wire I have and seperated out five of the strands, twisted them together, and wired her with that. Much better positioning! Still a little wonky but I am hoping that will improve after she gets "played" with and her elastic stretches some. Thank you again!
Zainan, Congratulations on your new tiny Nabiyette! It looks like she is about to be spoiled! I love the painting and the bow and the spear and the table and....everything!
Thank you ambsh. The "painting" is an ACEO card I drew a few months ago with charcoal and graphite. After making the easel I decided that the moon rising behind a tree would be a perfect elven work of art. Queedi2 I am making her a pair of leather boots at the moment but she was feeling to cooped up to wait around for them. Silvestre thought the dress was nice but stuffy. She is much more comfortable in her old, well-worn buckskins. She said I could take a quick picture before she headed back out into her beloved woods. rangersilvestreoutfit by zainan, on Flickr
Silvestre looks great. My girl, Cordie, has a bow and arrow set too. What did you make your bow from? I think it is the beautiful arched feet that make it so difficult for these girls to stand. They do much better in sturdy shoes or boots. My girl has been restrung with jewelry elastic, hot glue sueded and has tiny s-hooks for her hands and feet. Her knees and elbows are wired with pipe cleaners. I loved her before but she is so much fun to pose now.
Her bow is made from sculpy and baked for about 10 minutes longer than needed to "burn" it the brown color. I then wrapped a small scrap of leather around the grip and wrapped it with black sewing thread. The string is also made from black thread.
Zainan, I have only just see your lovely new girl Silvestre in her buck skins fantastic. She also looks wonderful in her blonde wig and crochet outfit. Hope her hunting was sucessful and she is ready for her new roommate. I have been neglecting poor Clementine lately so must step up and her dressed up. Ayas-Shadow, thank for the tip re pipe cleaners, Clementine could do with those too.
Richila, I finally got around to trying to sew your Waloli pattern. It is looking really cute, but I can't quite figure out the skirt. Is it suppose to attach to the top and if so should it have pleats/gathering? I have been "Googling" images but can't quite seem to figure this one out. Of course, I had my scale wrong so it is a tad too tiny for Luna, but I will definately re-make it once I get it figured out. Thank you so much for this pattern and your help!
Hi, you just gather the skirt and then attach it to the bodice. I added a fuffle of lace to the outer edge of the skirt. I found leather riding boots that fit!!!! Dollhouse scale boots that are wearable-fit. They are a little long, but the width is perfect!!! http://www.flickr.com/photos/richila/8538608296/ http://www.prestige-leather-miniatures.com/miniature-shoes-boots.html
Thank you Richila! Cordie looks great! I will have to finish it as soon as I get done with my lovely taxes. That is what I have scheduled for the weekend. I would rather be sewing!
richila - A big, big thankyou for the link to the Dawn patterns. I never would have thought of her as being the same size as Nabiyette. So far I've tried the one piece, long sleeve dress and it turns out really cute. As to sueding. I tried hot glue sueding my girl. It worked pretty well on her legs, but the joints are so small on her elbows that the arm wouldn't fit back in the joint all the way. I had to take the glue out. I have wired her using thin florist's wire.
What they are cute! Oh, and I only decided on the following wanting something, and now I want this miracle! Zainan, Silvestre are fantastic!!!
Took Dahlia with me on a vacation to Vegas last week! She got to come to dinner (really, she was in my camera bag with the other doll I brought along and with me the whole trip, they just only got to come out for photos in the hotel, or this one meal) and promptly stole the raspberries out of my drink! And THEN she tried to steal my dessert, too. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p28/ayas_shadow/Mealtime Fun/100_2968_zps015b634b.jpg Link to dessert photo.
