Name an item you wish you got before it was rare or not as expensive

I guess maybe more Mako Eyes since there are varieties of them I really do like. I haven't ordered again since the very first order period but they sure were affordable then! Maybe a Dragon Doll as they used to be one of the more affordable companies and I do think they are very beautiful and I like the style. Pabol glass eyes and Eyeco eyes before my preferred dealers closed down. So many pairs of amazing goth/punk/ alt boots before the aesthetic shifted. More Naipidoll wigs, more wigs from Ndoll (they might have been selling Classic Majesty but I'm really not sure? I just loved what I got so much). I guess it's mostly the accessory tastes shifting that I get sentimental about over actual dolls.

When they are sold, I thought have only tinies. But, after, I began to buy Minifee / FairyLine and now I try to complete my doll familly...

 

Cp delfs in general. But specifically I've been really wanting a 07 juri b for years now. I had one but had to sell it because I needed money and have always regretted it. I don't think many people liked it to begin with so all that have come up for sale have all been modded to remove its unique expression. And even those don't show up anymore.

 

I've always loved the Soom arctic mermaid version of Serin/Rico but didn't see them until just after they closed the orders for them. I've kept an eye out for one secondhand but i've only ever seen one come up for sale and it wasn't in the combination I want. I've struggled to even find any owner pictures so maybe there just aren't many around

 

I regret not getting a Fairyland Pukipuki Pukisha when they were available. I kept putting off getting one, then there was an accident at FL and the company’s pre order schedule changed. There has only been one Pukipuki pre order since (Pongpong, which I ordered), and I haven’t even seen any for sale secondhand, and I would expect the price to be way out of my budget.

 

The original Ringdoll Dracula fullset. I was out of the community at the time and missed him by about 6 months. Also my ex hated anything bigger than a 1/6, so I would have passed on him anyway. He is just so absolutely breathtaking, like he could come to life at any moment, and Dracula/vampires are in my top favourite things in the world.

(For anyone worried that I’m still “not allowed” to have anything bigger than 1/6: I now have two beautiful 1/3 dolls on order and live happily with several types of doll collection. If a partner reacts to your interest in dolls with, “the big ones activate my fight or flight, so I can’t promise I won’t accidentally kick one if it startles me” then that’s probably a sign you should consider if the relationship is any good.)

 

The Ringdoll Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. I didn't find out about them until right after Lan Wangji's preorder closed. These boys are my grails to this day. I haven't seen a single one up for sale, though I keep my fingers crossed.

The eyes, teeth..wtf! I only found out it existed years late. The mini version is cute, but I'd much rather have the big one.

 

Both the Fairyland f60 Mandrak Moors fullsets. I don't want the dolls, just the clothes and accessories. I had Sionna and sold her and regret that so much. I should have kept the outfit.

The other thing I really wish I could have gotten was the Ringdoll K Priest fullest head. I don't want the rest of the doll (the body is too big for me and I don't really need a priest outfit) but that faceup on top the hair changed my life lol
I saw one for sale once, but it was before I had multiple K heads and I was like "I already have a K i'm good". So much regret.

 

Another DollZone Yuu, but in Tan Skin. I do already have a Yuu (as you can see in my profile) but he has a twin that he doesn't know about. Which is a storyline that I'll never be able to do now. Granted, at the time of the Big Discontinue that DZ did I was in college and could barely afford my Yage's body, which I panic bought.

EDIT: I would also love a chance to buy basically any Dream of Doll sculpt. So many of those were so gorgeous.

 

Lati's red line Oracle M and Temple Knight K... I had the chance to buy them when they were released, but didn't, since I'd just spent a small fortune on one of my rarer CP/Delfs right before they showed up. Had I known that I'd pretty much never get another shot at either of them (You can't buy what no one puts up for sale-), I'd have said to heck with it and bought them both in spite of the whimpering of my bank account.

But no.
I had to be Responsible.
And here I am a dog's age later, still looking for those two guys.

Ah well. Something something hindsight. Something something 20/20.

 

I still regret not getting into the CP Delfs earlier. All of mine were purchased or traded for after they stopped production, and now prices still remain high, drives me crazy and I regret not focusing on them when I had the chance!

Nowadays I also regret not trying to save for a few of the Volks dolls I've always loved too, but between Volks and Delf I'd be going for broke. Still has me seriously considering Volks lotteries and fcs orders though.

For me, it was two Grail dolls that I could have bought straight from the company at the time but I didn't due to not having money at the time. Well, I had just enough to buy them, but maybe I would have survived on rice and Spam for a while. The first one was the Volks Suigintou, original Rozen Maiden version. Second time was the Volks Yukinojo (I literally had him in my hands, mint in box, at the Volks USA showroom). I wish I could tell my younger self that I should have gone for it, but it was for the best for me financially. They both pop up every once in a while but it's not the same and definitely not the same price I would have originally paid for.

Another would be not buying more of BJD furniture way back when. Again, at the time it seemed expensive to just get the one that we have now. I had a chance to get a dining table set with chairs (hand carved wood no less), more sofas, even a cast iron stove, old fashioned school desks, and more made out of wood and hand crafted superbly. But now...ack...how much it cost to buy those things then was a steal compared to what they cost now, whether mint from the company or from the secondhand marketplace.

 

Quite a few of the CP Delfs and their Minifee versions. Back when I was in the hobby the first time, they were so popular/common that even though I really wanted them, I put them off because I could enjoy them via everyone else's photos. Now they're pretty uncommon on platforms like IG and it absolutely makes my day when the accounts that collect them post photos. I did manage to find a Delf El & Shiwoo, which I'm SO FREAKIN HYPED about, but international shipping times are driving me crazy xD DoD's Ducan (human ver) is one I also very much wish I'd gotten back then, as I think it would be extremely difficult to find him with the default face-up now.

 

For me it is Soom's Snow White fantasy version in grey, I wasn't sure about the sculpt or the tiny hooves... and of course when the unboxing pics came out she was amazing and too late to buy she should come up on the second market but I won't be willing to pay for any mark up, so I know I won't be acquiring any time soon.

And finally Sugarble's naga tails in different colours... I bought the tails in white and black when they came out, resisted temptation when released in the colours (as I knew I would want one of each colour as they were all so ) and then Sugarble folded and missed all the clearance sales as I was on hiatus from the hobby at the time. Found out too late

Edit, absolutely forgot to include: Ringdoll's Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, must be fullset with official accessories. I am never to going to buy at current market prices.

 

I wish I could've gotten a DC Stacy before she was discontinued. I was in the hobby back then, but I didn't want big dolls, so I missed out on her

 

Basically any Dream of Doll sculpts I've accepted that I'll never find one at a good price these days, it's a shame the company went under with all of us scrambling to get our hands on one!
