1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Narin Creative/Dollfair Waitlist and Resolution

Oct 16, 2010

    1. From the Dollfair site and the art-bimong site I think these are current address:

      Dollfair International
      278 Karl Street
      Berea, Ohio 44017

      Also:
      Dollfair International
      792 West Bagley Road
      Berea, Ohio 44017

      Dollfair International
      PO Box 38125
      Cleveland, Ohio 44138

      Phone #'s:
      (216) 598-1000
      (440) 239-0723
      (440) 625.6120
      email: [email protected]
      [email protected]

However, I don't think any address, email or phone number is going to get a response from Catrina until she decides to answer. Again, reading the Limwha WR posts it is obvious she has been well enough to place orders, receive them and send them out to buyers. Does anyone know Catrina's last name...I'd like to do some more research.

Vonbonbon...my advice would be to PM one of the members that is filing a IC3 and add your information with their complaint...internet fraud is international and as someone said the greater the number of complaints the better the chance of action. My goddaughter is studying abroad so I don't have her information yet but I'll stay involved.

      [edit] FYI...Catrina Sanders

    2. Just filed IC3. T^T

    3. hope for you this story will end soon and you will get all your money back.

    4. Yes, anyone can file ... I filed with IC3 and I am from Australia.
      :D Kaye

    5. What is the CURRENT address of dollfair? Is it the listed on the dollfair website??
I am going to file an IC3 this evening. I advise anyone involved do the same. Strength in numbers REALLY matters here.
I want everyone to get the satisfaction they deserve. We've all waited too long.
      C'mon, guys, let's get it done. :)

    6. This is the one on the Dollfair site:
      Dollfair International
      278 Karl Street
      Berea, Ohio 44017

The West Bagley address was on my last statement from 9/08. The PO address was from a search on her Datatex Media company.

    7. I read your story on art.bimong.com about your problems with Dollfair. Hope you resolve your issues also and get your doll casting returned.

    8. Another address for Datatex Media Dolls:
      7027 Columbia Road
      Cleveland, OH 44138-1527

    9. IC3 complaint filed. Better Business Bureau is next. Also another email sent to Catrina, etc.

I have written a letter to her, and am sending a copy regular mail, and one certified mail. Perhaps then I can say uniquivocally that she/they have received my information and request.

    10. Damn, I wish I'd seen all those physical addresses a few minutes ago! I would have added them to my IC3.

It's considered to be suspicious when a person/company has multiple email addresses, phone numbers (especially when they don't work), and addresses as well as different names for the company itself (Dollfair International/Datatex Media). Not to mention personal names, though to a lesser degree (Severson/Sanders)... Catrina has all these things.

    11. Is Atelier Nouveau the same company as well?

    12. Vonbonbon, I just saw your posts in the Sleetwealth Briar Discussion. I also went through the process of buying the doll just stopping before pushing the Buy Button. Maybe if I'd pushed it and not paid Dollfair would contact me.

Apparently Twingling had the same problem with Dollfair as Lillycat...Catrina won't return the master cast of their limited dolls. Twingling recommends no one should buy any dolls from Dollfair...well, it's a little late for that advice but it sounds like the DF Narae problem is one of many.

[edit] Vonbonbon...Atelier Nouveau is another doll Catrina/Dollfair is manufacturing and her company DataTex set up the site. I believe this doll is also still available for purchasing...tangled web and all that.

There's another partnership between Dollfair and Marina Bychkova of Enchantment Doll that's been going on for over a year and I don't have the full story but apparently Dollfair is manufacturing her dolls. Marina has a live journal blog and people talking about whether the problem on DOA over Narae will affect the production of Marina's dolls.

    13. Oggi: I'm so glad you didn't go through with the sale. I don't wish the aggro I've had on anyone else, and I've only been in this situation a few months but it has made me physically ill because I can't afford to just send $450 off into the ether like that, who can? This whole situation is apalling for all concerned and I just hate the fact that there are so many websites out there still operating that might not look like Dollfair but in fact are. Just hope no-one else gets sucked into this mess.

    14. Thanks Alewife...The Columbia address was on one of my 2006 and 07 statements. I believe in 2008 Catrina to her new store and 7,000 sq ft manufacturing building both in Berea, Ohio.

[edit] Thanks Vonbonbon...like you I was just testing to see if the site worked.

    15. Oh no, not Enchanted doll!! :( She and her dolls are awesome, I'd hate to see her taken down, too. Oh God, this has to end.

    16. Here's the link to the Doll Reader talking about the partnership between Marina and Dollfair starting around Dec 09:

      http://www.dollreader.com/modern.php?id=486
Article about Dollfair partnership with Marina Bychkova of Enchantment Doll

      http://www.dollreader.com/modern.php?id=484
Doll Reader IDEX article, thanks Dollfair no mention of Enchantment Doll

The article said they were working feverishly together to get ready for IDEX 2010 and the Winter Olympics...but when I checked Marina's site and did a search absolutely nothing came up about Dollfair...only the Winter Olympics. Marina has a monthly kind of diary and nothing showed up there either...back to sleuthing? :aninja:

    17. I would just like to add that I never said anything like that (unless there is someone else called "Twingling" that Catrina has also been working with). If someone is going to paraphrase me, please be sure to link back to the original post or comment that I made.

I have not asked for my masters back yet, and I have not contacted Catrina since mid-November, which was the last time I wrote to her and asked her to check this thread and make an update with what was going on. She has so far responded pretty quickly to me when I have written to her, but as I have no outstanding business with her at present I have not been contacting her, since she already has a mountain of unanswered mail to attend to.

      Edit to add:
Actually, let me rephrase that.. I have asked in the past —before any of this went down— back in 2008, perhaps. About the possibility of getting my Ylisande masters back. Mind you, Catrina does not have my original clay masters, she has a resin copy that was used to make the production molds. When I asked, it was suggested the masters might still be needed in case some of the molds had to be remade for replacement parts, and I only asked to get the masters back because they were a grey-green colour and I wanted to send them to a customiser to be turned into an OOAK. However I have too busy with other things to ask about them again and that project fell by the wayside. I don't recall posting anywhere about this, although I might have mentioned it in passing in private communications, however I feel it is not relevant to the developments of the last 12 months.

I also have not (to my recollection) posted that people should not buy from Dollfair, although I wish I had, except that I didn't know any more than any of you. I did post in response to vonbonbon in the Sleetwealth Briar thread that there should not be an issue ordering Briar since those dolls were already in stock, but obviously I couldn't be more wrong and that is truly embarrassing.

This situation is unbearable and awful, and I hope you all get your money back. I am not defending or condoning what has happened here, I am horrified that this has been dragged out for so long without proper communication from the responsible parties. I have no cause to join the IC3 action that is now being taken, but I do support those of you who feel it is necessary to take this step and again hope that a solution can be found.

    18. I have to speak up here, after reading twigling's post I have to say this situation is really horrifying. I also saw no reason why not to order from Dollfair. I have ordered eight dolls from Dollfair, and not had one single problem before this. I also attended a two day artist workshop at Dollfair, and that was a great experience. I am mortified that I personally vouched for a business that is not living up to the promises it made to people.
I don't personally have any reason to join the IC3 action, as I never asked for refund of my monies, I asked Bimong to make my Narae, to which he said that he would, seemingly he has reneged on that. I have to see it as 500 dollars that I won't get back, and I am truly sorry for what others are going through now, this is becoming ridiculous.

    19. My most sincere apologies Twigling...I really don't know how I mixed you up with a post from Brushwithlife on the Sleetwealth Briar Discussion. :doh

Now I hope I'm not making another error and it's alright to cut and paste the following post from Brushwithlife on this thread since it seems pertinent to this situation.

[I]I am Anita Collins creator of Sleetwealth Briar. I am no longer associating with Catrina Sanders of Dollfair/Atelier Nouveau and I would recommend that future buyers not purchase from her. Nor do I recommend artists looking to have their sculpture cast. I am working with a new more reliable resin caster to deliver the elf ear version of Briar. I sent Briar's elf ear head in August of 2009 and my master was kept.[/I]

Again Twigling I am terribly sorry for the mistake...

    20. Oggi, I'm glad we cleared that up ~ no need to apologise :)
