Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. natural face ups or fancy face ups?

Jan 2, 2013

    1. I skew towards naturalistic face-ups. Like 90% of my face-ups are like red, pink, brown, and freckles. lol

But I do the occasional more make-up-y face-up.

    2. I feel like natural faceups are more versatile. I get a little jealous when I see fancy makeup on pictures, since it looks so high fashion and striking. I have been thinking about maybe trying to apply makeup using photoshop, I'll have to give it a try. Changing lip colour is super easy there! My girl Rosa has had redish lips, pink lips, nude... It's super fun editing doll pictures =)

    3. I find I prefer natural face ups. Fancy ones are very cool but can kind of lock you into certain styles or colour schemes.

    4. overhaul I prefer natural as seems to fit in with my style of Victorian dress

    5. I prefer more natural face-ups but I like my girls to look like they have a bit of make-up on, pretty them up so to speak. I also like Goth face-ups especially on tan resin. I think natural face-ups lend themselves to more possibilities of dressing. To me, if a face-up is very stylized it limits the choice of clothing & restricts the doll to one type of being.

    6. I like face-ups that are a little dramatic but in a natural way- like really fluttery eyelashes or really rosy lips, in a way that is very dramatic but also could potentially exist on a real person. Fancier face-ups could be nice for specific characters, but as others have said, it means that you have to only put your dolls in clothes that match that kind of look, where as natural face-ups give you a wider range of clothing options.

    7. I prefer natural faceups as I like my dolls to wear more casual and modern clothes. Fancy faceups don't really go well with that.

    8. I love the colorful and elaborate face ups, but I feel like none would be suited well for my dolls. I do like the natural enhancements like beauty marks and freckles! Maybe some day I can branch out and get a colorful and glittery look that fits my doll.

    9. I like natural, hyper realistic faceups with that mottled texture.

    10. I love fancy faceups, the more glitter the better!

    11. I like fancy face up for my dolls, tatoo is my favorite, some of the artist are really good at drawing this kind of face up, it is a pleasure to see their work.

    12. I like fancy faceup!

    13. I like both! My Unidoll Cupi still has her original company faceup, which I like. I like how simple it is, it really suits the character. However, I'm planning a more fantasy style faceup for my next doll.

    14. I tend to lean natural, but ended up ordering FeiHuaDeng in white resin as a fullset because I couldn't. stop. staring at her. Planning to do the same with WeiYueJin!

    15. I'm all natural so I project that onto my dolls :) to each their own!

    16. Natural, even if I decide to sometimes do the goth/punk thing with my dolls, it looks like makeup, and nothing very fancy.

    17. Both~ I love natural style faceups, but glam and extraordinary are fun to.

    18. It depends on the doll's character for me. A lot of my dolls are turning fantasy or creepy, so lol...

    19. I'm all for faceups that are both at the same time. Realistic, but maybe a bit more dramatic, or colorful, or otherworldly, than the norm. Real people have that "spark" about them that differentiates one from another who would otherwise look similar, so I think that dolls should too.

    20. I have a mixture of both natural and glamorous face ups. Overall I lean toward preferring the natural face ups. Sometimes I will find a beautiful second hand doll and when that happens I tend to just buy the doll regardless of the type of face up.
