Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. natural face ups or fancy face ups?

Jan 2, 2013

    1. Natural face up. I'm a very low-maintenance person myself so my dolls keep the same sort of attitude. :)

    2. I tend to prefer the really dramatic or fancyish faceups, although they're a lot harder to pull off. I usually find that there's more variety with them, so it keeps things interesting.

    3. I usually do natural and very simple face-ups, but fancy ones are beautiful too. Natural just seems easier to work with and customize off of.

    4. I prefer really natural face-ups
my dolls can't look like they're wearing make-up of any kind

    5. I enjoy both :) Since I do my own face-up work, and tend to cave to my own artistic whims, my dolls run the gamut between very simple, natural face-ups and very complex fantasy ones

    6. I love fantasy dolls with unusual skin colour, fantasy parts and fancy face ups! But there are also lots of sculpts with natural face-ups that look just amazing. It really depends on the sculpt, skin colour and character but I love just both!

    7. For my own dolls, I prefer natural face-ups that look like the doll is wearing neutral colors but not necessarily no make-up at all. As for other dolls, I enjoy seeing any type of face-up.

    8. I love fancy, dramatic face-ups. I also tend to like the artistry of dramatic make-up on real people too.

My dolls tend to be less extravagant than this though. I like them to have some glamour, but not to be locked into a super specific look.

    9. All of mine so far have natural faceups so that they can pretty much where anything, but when I get a fantasy BJD she will have a more exotic and whimsical faceup to match her fantasy character

    10. I think that is depends on the doll, but a natural face up can handle more looks.

    11. I LOVE fancy face ups, some of them are literally a work of art. I can see many awesome natural face ups too, so I like both. My current dolls are all neutral because of their personalities (not fancy at all) but I pretend to have some fantasy characters like elves or circus creatures. :3

    12. I depends on the personality I give them, and the style I envision them wearing. For some I see them wearing a lot of makeup, because it suits them, due to their lifestyle, personality or whatever. Other dolls, might not wear makeup because they don't like or maybe it's not practical for them. I don't think a runaway noble woman would wear a lot of makeup as that would give her away, but if she was at a royal court or ball, I think she would cake it on, as one might put it. So personally it varies, and I choose what fits.

    13. I tend to prefer natural faceups, though fancy faceups can look amazing if done right. For fancy faceups, you have to be more careful to not overdo it.

    14. I like flamboyant, fancy faceups. Natural is too plain and uninteresting for me...plus...no character of mine is ever NOT flamboyant.

    15. i like anything as long as it looks good.

    16. I prefer giving my dolls dark-black natural faceups with lighter lips.

    17. Boys: natural
      Girls: fancy!

      ^^

    18. I love fancy face ups and body work but I don't like doing it on my own dolls. I feel it's harder to photograph them in nuetral or 'homey' settings.

    19. All of the above? I never really feel the need to make all of my dolls look the same (after all, people don't), and one reason for having multiple dolls IMO is try new things with them.

    20. I like any and all kinds of face-ups as long as they are well done :] But as for my own dolls, it depends on their character really~ A flamboyant character gets a flamboyant face-up (and alternatively a spare head with a more 'can't be bothered to pretty me up today' look, hurdurdur) and a quiet, modest character would get a more modest 'natural' face up. And anything in between will get whatever I picture them having~
