natural face ups or fancy face ups?

Jan 2, 2013

    1. It depends on the doll. I have a few that look like they're wearing makeup and one with a fantasy face-up. The rest are natural. As long as it represents their characters I don't really have a preference.

    2. it really depends on the character of the doll when it comes to my own little ones. But in general i find myself drawn to the fantasy either the fantasy face up or the ones that have freckles. i think it looks truly entrancing when the color washes across the whole face and highlights its entirety. i hope that makes sense.

    3. Always natural! And I find a bit frustrating when I want to look up some naturally face-uped sculpts and I only get to see them in colorful and fancy face-ups >.< I love natural freckles too.

    4. For me it depends on the doll's character. I love natural face-ups, but sometimes someone needs a high-drama or fantastic look!

    5. Depends on the character of the doll. I have glamorous face-ups for my mature ladies and a natural one for my younger girl.

    6. as many people said here = it's depends on the character

    7. I personally prefer more elaborate faceups, the fancier the better.
Weirdly enough, I think it looks more natural?

I mean if I see an over-the-top faceup, my brain assumes it looks "human" underneath the fancier designs etc while normal ones usually look very plain and dead-ish to me...

    8. I like fancy over the top. Emo styled or lots of colours face-up. :) i want my Bjd to be in fairy kei or emo or punk so that is why :)
Reason being I am to old to be it myself so it is easier to have my Doll be it

    9. Entirely depends on the character.

    10. It's awesome how a face-up can make a doll older or younger. I totally agree with you, I always prefer natural, but if you're looking for a more mature character, a glamurous face-up looks completely natural, you're just aging up your doll :) A clear example is the brand iplehouse. They usually look older than other dolls, but that's because they tend to do more mature face ups, I've seen some iplehouse in deviantart where they look like teens, and it's the same sculpt :)

    11. All my current dolls have natural face-ups, but only because they are supposed to be real young people. So it depends on the doll.

    12. I like many kind of make-up but I really love the natural and realistic one. With some default on it : dark circles, redness, skin roughness. In real life I'm not fond of make-up so it's the same with bjds.
But there is so many amazing fancy make-up too. Aaah... ! right I love them all hahaha !

    13. I like them all, but I tend to lean more towards natural style faceups.

    14. I love all kinds of face-ups, but my current dolls all have natural face-ups. I'd like to have something a bit different for a couple of my dolls, and I'll probably try to re-do them when weather permits, but I haven't decided just what yet.

    15. I prefer natural faceups, because they expand the potential for a doll's character.
The fancy elements that I like in faceups are white/purple eyelashes, butterflies, and scars.

    16. The natural face-up remains unsurpassed--the fancy ones may look great for certain occasions, but I would tire of them much sooner.

    17. Although, I like the natural face ups more because most of my dolls are regular humans, some sculpts need fancy face ups depending on the character.

    18. All my girls have very natural face ups, and I think this will continue in the future with other dolls I buy, unless the character needs something more elaborate.

    19. I like ones that fit the age but also love the extreme ones if it's tastefully done and fits the character

    20. I prefer natural makeup with accentuated eyes.
