natural face ups or fancy face ups?

Jan 2, 2013

    1. I preffer natural face ups...
I do face ups... but I cant imagine my dolls with fancy face ups... i want em looking sweet... innocent and simple...

    2. Im 100% into natural faceups for my own dolls. However I can appreciate elaborate, fancy faceups of other people's dolls!

    3. Natural! It would depend on the character, but definitely natural by default.

    4. How about an in between? I quite like both, buuuut not when the natural faceup is lacking in a sense, and not when the 'fancy' one is overdone. I like stylized ones, too- Semi-realistic might be a good word for that!

    5. I prefer natural face ups for my own dolls.

    6. I love natural face ups. I would like to buy a doll with fantasy face up I just haven't found the one I won't. All my dolls are fantasy though. I love fantasy dolls just all of mine has normal face ups.

    7. I like fancy face-ups but all the face ups I've done have been pretty natural.:3nodding:

    8. I tend to prefer the natural faceups, although I don't mind the fancy ones if they are beautifully done! My boys usually have natural ones though!

    9. I think it depends on what kind of dolls you have...some dolls only can use natural face up, some dolls only good for using fancy face up...

    10. For me it depends on the dolls character. Out of my five boys three of them have natural face ups, and two have fancy/fantasy face ups. Most of the time I do prefer natural, but for my ice dragon I love his fantasy face up and it just matches his over all feel. My other boy that has a fantasy face up is based on my favorite anime character, who is a demon lord, so it's just natural that his face is unnatural.

    11. Depends on the character. Most of my characters are humans so they just need natural makeup, but I do plan on having my DC Elizabeth be turned into a Japanese spider monster, so her makeup will be pretty fancy.

    12. I really like fancy, detailed face ups with lots of colour and interesting details. But I'm not good at them. So I just stick to natural face ups. I just can't make any boys have a fancy face up without making them look extremely feminine! And as for girls.. well, I surely can give them the effect of wearing makeup, but when I try to fancy it up it usually ends up looking tacky. :doh

    13. Definitely natural
I dont like those dark/vampie faceups

    14. Xxxx

    15. I like natural but I love pastel dolls faceups as well!

    16. I like both honestly! I think it depends on the doll. I think natural faceups can look sweet and almost any sculpt can pull them of. I think the more bold ones sometimes give sculpts a bit more personality! I think its especially fun to see the people who have the same sculpt where one has a very natural looking face and the other one is very intense and stylized! It just shows you how much of a difference the creativity can make.

    17. Maybe a combination of both would be cool? Like mostly natural but using colors like blue for shading or something to help emphasize the character of the doll. But mostly I prefer more natural-looking faceups, except for fantasy sculpts!

    18. So far I prefer natural, especially with the dolls on my wishlist, although I must say that seeing fancy/fantasy face-ups is really interesting and fun. I saw one from the doll profile page where she had rainbow eyeshadow and a sleeping sculpt with matching rainbow hair and I must say that I was blown away and started considering getting a fantasy doll.:drool

    19. I prefer natural for the most part, but just because I personally change styles a lot and don't want something elaborate that won't match with certain clothes or props. I absolutely love fantastical face-ups and sometimes wish for one, but I know that unless the doll itself was highly stylized it wouldn't last long. Adding a small face tattoo or a bit of makeup wouldn't be an issue for me though.
