I did not get Monika, but I can not wait to see pictures!
Babette's all flowed in at the same time, so Monika's probably will also.
Babette looks better than her advertising picture, so it will be interesting to see Monika!

Oh, I will definitely be posting as soon as she gets here (by my calculations - on Monday)! I did see all the cute Babettes - they are adorable, and I agree, much better in person than on the promo shots. Makes me regret not getting one... I just didn't think she's my cup of tea when they released her. But, I'm sure Soom will release her again, as they did with other iMda girls.

 

I put this picture in IMda Modigli and friends, and I will put her here also so If anyone is debating on ordering her, they can see shes lovely!

 

mydaffer, she's very beautiful and sweet! Do you have a name yet? I particularly like the shape of her eyes - they are not too big and yet not so too small, either; just perfect!

I started a picture thread for all IMda Dolls if anyone would like to post!!

 

I got my Monika today and I'm working on a box opening thread right now. As soon as it's up, I'll post a link here. I have a question to those who own the 5.2 body... how difficult was it for you to get your doll to sit? I'm at my wits end trying to get this girl to sit unassisted and she just won't do it (I tightened the strings, didn't help). Her limbs are just all over the place and I'm pretty frustrated... any tips would be appreciated!

This box opening took me almost two hours between the string tightening, hand removal, dressing and getting her to be able to sit... I've never been so tired after opening a doll!

I do love this girl. I do not regret that I ordered her because I simply adore her face. But, I am very frustrated by the body and it's inability to sit even after playing around with the strings. I look forward to reading tips on how to manage this body from those who already own 5.2 girls.

 

Guess who arrived today, in time to make me feel a little bit better??

I've been having trouble getting her legs to stay straight enough for her to stand. They keep twisting, and then when I get them facing the right way, she just doesn't want to stand. I haven't tried to sit her down yet. She is very floppy, and you have to remove her hands to get her dress on. She is cute though!

 

Oh my gosh, this made me laugh, the way you put it about being tired!! I was and still am in the same boat, so I look forward to see what other people do to make her cooperate more!!

I sure hope we can figure out how to make them sit. I already wrote to Soom asking this. I'm not familiar with previous 5.2 girls, but perhaps' Monika's head is just too heavy? I think one of two changes need to be implemented with her: either the head needs to be reduced in weight or the body needs to be heavier to support the head. If I try and have my girl look straight at me, she falls back right away. Another thing that would help is redoing her torso to make it able to slouch.

She's such a gorgeous face and it would be a shame to have her constantly look down, like so:

 

HI, I have had Natassa since the beginning and when I received her I was equally frustrated about the floppy body. I had to take her first pictures with her lying down or should I say reclined. Anyway, I also contacted Soom with my frustration and disappointment. They replied by sending me a diagram on how to string her tighter but I don't think that works. If you go back in this thread you will see discussions and Michele found the best success for a solution was found to be restringing with heavier elastic. I never got around to this task because I have grown used to Natassa's rag doll ways.

I might add that sueding with hot glue on the joints did help somewhat. Also, i added suede cloth at the base of her head to help with posing the "heavy" head.

bonmwe, thank you very much for the tips. I did go back and through all 16 pages of this thread, but I thought maybe over time those who have had the 5.2 girls figured out how to work them without restringing and/or hot-gluing. I wrote to Soom expressing my disappointment in the fact that she cannot even sit. I mean, sure, she's not an acrobat, but not being able to sit? Sigh. I hope that Soom takes note of these complaints and reworks the body in a way that will at least have her sit out of the box.

I'm actually very happy with her other than the sitting issue. I love the style of her body and her face is beyond lovely - I can't stop looking at her. She's so different from the rest of my crew and I'm enjoying that aspect a lot. Maybe I should just buy her a beautiful armchair and have her sit on it permanently

Thank you, Britt7399! I do love her, despite my complaints bout sitting ability I didn't mention her wig, but I love it as well. It is massive, though! I have over 40 wigs (I may have a slight wig addiction... ) and this one is by far the longest and heaviest one I have! Though, I think it adds weight to her already heavy head
