1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Never taking your dolls out again..

Sep 4, 2010

    1. I only take my dolls to places where they're "socially accepted." That being, a Con with a doll event going on. Otherwise, they stay home safe and sound. I don't trust people to not do something stupid, I don't want to risk damage or theft, and finally... resin is heavy! I just want to get out and have fun when I'm out. Lugging a doll around doesn't make much sense to me and I don't want all the weird looks. But I'm 35 and adults just don't normally carry dolls around. Maybe it is different for kids in school.

    2. I did something very stupid a couple of years ago that has made it so my dolls with magnet parts don't get out as often. I'll just say my Luts zuzu delf Lio lost an ear due to being mindlessly shoved into my pocket (by myself), in a crowded movie theater. I'm guessing his ear caught on the opening of the pocket and just popped off. I of course didn't notice until long after I got home somehow. I heard from a Luts person that they would give me a new set of ears for probably 40 bucks (not including shipping, but with blushing) if I remember correctly. I decided I would plan to sculpt my own ear but I haven't done it yet due to the guilt and anxiety I have over the whole thing (I am extremely avoidant).

    3. This thread made me remember Ive actually taken my dolls out more than I thought. Mainly because Im super shy, terrified of something happening...and as most people know lugging an SD leads to serious cramp. 2 cons which I wasnt approached much but they were all nice. Few random walks out with friends with a bag an not, when in town though people stared or asked. And when I headed to the park for a photo shoot a group of teens came over asking the usual unstrained questions. Why have you got them what are you doing. Fortunatly I was using my camera so I looked artistic otherwise I may have looked just like a creeper. These people scared me though, I felt nervous, the boys kept saying my Zi was ugly and creepy, but fortunatly the girls with them said theyre not an they taking photos...eventually they left. Phew. I also took Zi to Bulgaria with me, and while it was fun to have him in my hotel room and not be alone...I feared for his safety...on the plane, in crowds, leaving him in the hotel. I never took him outside once either :/ Its always better to be safe than sorry. Its a shame though >.>

So all in all nothing BAD....apart from being more anxious than normal. But I dont see much point in taking them with me anymore I like them safe ^_^

    4. omg, that's awful. i probably would have beat the crap out of him. It's not just disrespectful to your doll, but to you as a person. No one has the right to treat you like that!

I've had a few unfortunate experiences. I had a woman grab my narae and start pulling her arms off. She was the mother of two high school aged girls who were /horrified/ at how rude their mother was being.

But i've had some good experiences, and funny ones. People reprimanding me for bringing my "baby" out so underdressed, then stopping mid sentence when they realize that it's not a baby.

i took out one of my test casts out the other day when a friend and i were having lunch. it's the first time since i moved to california that i took a doll out and she got a really positive reaction. but for some reason people thought she was a tiny dog at first. Oh california.

    5. What in the world possessed her?
