1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

New Chinese Piracy

Mar 10, 2009

    1. Nah. As mentioned previously, doing that to them would just cause them to move to a different board and make them difficult to locate. Otherwise, I'm sure someone if not me would have tried their hands at it a looong time ago. >D
ETA: Whoops did I say that outloud? ;)

    2. Don't worry...
You won't have to face anyone unknowing buying a recast from Moe thinking it's an original.
Moe has openly admitted that they are selling recasts, therefore whoever that buys from the company would know that they are buying a recast doll.
They will also know that recasts are not appreciated in the BJD loving community as the company also promised to keep the identity of buyers secret so they will not be osterised for buying recast dolls

    3. I'm not putting words in your mouth, you actually italicised the word 'communist' so forgive me for thinking that was the main point of your comment.

    4. Hmm... I totally didn't think of that.... but I guess that makes sense...

    5. For extra information on other pirate companies:
      1. LOLIDOLL : copying of volks and luts dolls
      2. 萌人形': planning to copy soom dolls and over popular companies
      3. 豪社: copies any doll as long as they have enough orders
      4. Chiong dolls

I also heard those piracy company before...

and you can find their piracy dolls on TAOBAO easily = = ||

and there are still someone like to buy the piracy just because they are cheaper....

      >_<

    6. Wow, this is getting ridiculous.

The thing that gets to me the most, is that they are getting requests?
The company/people making these copies are plainly wrong, but the people
who are supporting/requesting from them, are far beyond wrong.

I can't imagine what could people possibly be thinking when they support
such disreputable acts. It's not as if these dolls are food, or a vaccine/cure
for a deadly disease. If you can't afford them, then don't buy them -- they
are certainly not a necessity, for people to behave in such demented way for them.

      How depressing.

      - Enzyme >_<;;

    8. Dunno if anyone has posted this yet, but I found this when I opened the Iplehouse site this morning:

      Hi, this is Iplehouse. ^^

Recently, owing to customers' information, we got to know the shop which copied Iplehouse dolls and then has been sold so far.

That company said that they would purchase Iplehouse dolls and then sell.

But this is not true, for sure.

Iplehouse dolls are available on Iplehouse site only.

So, we kindly ask you all who are loving Iplehouse not to purchase illegally manufactured dolls.

These illegally manufactured dolls are very inferior in the quality.

In addition, we can't do AS for this, accordingly.

The illegal copy makes the will of Iplehouse to development better design of dolls, and due to this, various pleasure for customers can be reduced less & less.

Therefore, we sincerely ask for your supports so that such a thing would not happen. Please.

      Thank you very much. ^^

At least it´s good to know doll companies are aware.

    9. dinwe that's good to see! I hope doll companies continue to help spread the word about this!

    10. yes, but in the end, he was still doing his own versions of these famous paintings. They might be frauds, but what he is doing is a common practice in the art world. His art, no matter how exact and good, is still never going to be an exact duplicate. These dolls, however, are being cast, and molded. It is the same as placing a painting within a scanner, and creating a duplicate. If you take an art piece, and make a duplicate print of it, it comes out exact. If you take that print, and make a duplicate of THAT, it is not as precise...if you make a duplicate of that following print, it is even LESS quality...the same is for dolls. They are making a casting of a casting. It isn't going to be quite as high-quality in detail.

The informant to Iplehouse was me. This was their response to my message i sent...

Thank you, dear comicartis LUTS (2009-03-12 )

Most of all, thank you for your reporting.

They have copied our dolls and other BJDs since last year.
We discovered it and we are preparing document to report and claim the seller to Taobao.com.

If you can, please claim this seller to Taobao.com about this illegal seller.
We do not offer any A/S or service for the dolls which were purchased from the seller.

We really appreciate your support. :)

We will do our best to show you lovely dolls and items. ^^
      Have a nice day!

    11.

Maybe we should steer the conversation away from political ideology debate and keep it focused on doll discussion. Politics is a sticky subject, and one that tends to get people heated pretty quickly.

    12. That's great that some of the sites are putting up notices regarding this. :) Hopefully it'll deter the some buyers of these bootlegs from doing so... thus decreasing their business. Not to mention, once people have bootleg dolls in possession, they can clearly see that they've gotten what they've paid for... a low quality piece of junk. Karma will come around and bite these people really hard in the end. If people sincerely want an affordable doll and are in China, why not go to Bobobie or Angel of Dream? They're genuine companies who produce great products for a low cost for people who CAN'T afford $500-$1000+ on a doll.

I can't afford a Glot or Glati as much as I'd LOVE to own one. It's just not in my budget. My bills and obligations come first. I'm not going to recast it so that I can have one. Because in the end, it's NOT a Glot or Glati. It's a lower quality copy. I would be paying all of that money for an MD because I've fallen in love with the doll and it's limited. If I want one badly, I'll go hunt one down in the marketplace 2nd hand from a reputable seller when I can afford it.

    13. Don't forget Dollzone. Frankly I'd rather spend on their dolls than on SOOM, but that's merely my opinion.

    14. This was what I thought exactly. Why not just produce your own molds and leave the coping alone. I do buy on the second hand market as well as sell. If I buy a doll and decide they are not for me I should be able to sell my doll and not have people worry if they are getting ripped off. I guess this is just the result of consumerism.

    15. This is what frustrates me. If they're going to all the work to set up molds and do casting, why not just hire a sculptor to make their own dolls? If they're going to spend all this money buying limited dolls to re-cast, one would think that money would be better spent by making original sculpts.

I understand why people would want to cash in on something that is already a trend, but I most certainly do not support it. It's greed, pure and simple... and there will always be scams spurred by greed. Making a quick buck off of someone else's hard work will always be appealing to a certain type of person. But reading through this thread, it seems that this company is claiming they will sell dolls at material cost or some sort of discount, for "non-profit". If that's really the case, they should just make their own dolls. :x

I'm glad to see the doll companies taking some action, but I fear it will do little good. Most of the people who are viewing the original companies' sites will either 1) Be loyal to the doll companies, and would oppose the blatantly-admitted-to recasts anyway... or 2) They are the people "voting" in those polls to get a cheaper doll anyway. I feel that the doll companies posting a warning isn't going to deter the people who already support recasts. And since this new "Moe" company is openly admitting to copying, I don't think they'll be drawing in too many unwitting victims or newcomers, like some of the "sneakier" scam artists out there have done in the past.

I'm just going to throw my lot in with those who hope this is all just a big hoax. I'd hate to think of these recasts being out in the open market. It's just a slap in the face to all the hardworking companies that bring us these beautiful, unique dolls.

    16. The answer is easy: copying is CHEAP, and way easier and faster than creating, which takes a lot of effort, perseverance...and talent. I´m afraid this company lacks all of them.

    17. -Is a chinese BJD owner-

I was never proud of my country
People are just too greedy, they would do anything to obtain power or profit

The country's finished, everything is fake

    18. Awww, hon, you can still be proud of your country...just maybe not so much some of the greedy people who do bad things...

Never be ashamed of where you are from. If you are a good person, then that stands to show that there are good people where you are from.

    19. ninjaxdestiny: I agree with comicbookartistboi. From my very limited understanding, China's laws make it easier for bad people to get away with pirating other peoples goods, but it doesn't mean that there are more bad people. And China is not the only country where people do these things, they just have to be more discreet about it . . .

    20. I'm rather surprised that they were so upfront about it, lol. But people will still buy those dolls, and I'm not only talking about other Chinese people. People all over the world are often looking for a good deal, and if a low-quality copy of an item they really want but can't otherwise afford is acceptable, then they will buy it.

I did study abroad in Beijing a few years back, and practically all of my (mostly American-born) classmates went crazy for the bootlegged Puma sneakers, North Face jackets, copied DVDs of "Grey's Anatomy"...everything. They even got it down to a science, where certain stores had the "best" copied Nike bags, etc. One girl bought so much bootlegged stuff that she was afraid of getting in trouble if airport security opened her bag. All of those stores were crawling with Western tourists...so it's not just a China thing, the whole world is contributing to the problem too. We might not think too much on spending 30CNY (about US$4.38) on one fake DVD, but this is enough money to buy lunch at a university cafeteria every day for a week.

I tried very hard to buy only official goods in while China, and I still walked into a few traps with the item right in front of me. I can't even imagine the circus second-hand bjd market will be, when more and more of these copies pop up.
