New Customhouse AI Doll: Fennel

Um, let's see...I was watching Uriel for a while...he was in stock for a couple months, but the problem is, once they're sold out, it's a long while before they restock. I think they have a bunch that they premake, and when they sell out, they make some more. After all, the Jr. Ai only took a week to get here...

I think he's beautiful... I love his face-up...? Weird for *me* to be in the minority.

 

*pain* When I get my paycheck I will have enough for him, but alas, I need to save for dolls I've wanted (ie FCS).

 

I think he has definite potential. I love the "precious little sister" bit. I'd like to see some better shots of his face without all the artistic angles. Just something straight on at eye level. It's kind of hard to see what he really looks like.

I second that - I've been noticing this on a lot of sites lately (luts too) where the photo itself is lovely but you can't seem to really tell what the doll LOOKS like.

JMHO... I am really NOT loving that "poot" of brown paint on these dolls' lower lips. A healthy young man's lips are not BROWN. Just me, but it makes it so hard to tell what they look like too, I can't get past the faceups that I realize just aren't my personal taste.

 

I feel the same way...I really like Fennel's head, but it's so hard to tell with that awful faceup...IMHO the faceup is the most important for the personality and if the faceup is icky then that's how the doll seems. I hope somebody orders a Fennel and/or changes his faceup, I'd love to get him if he looks good IRL. I wouldn't mind paying half what I would for an FCS if he looks better in a different faceup, I want a guy who looks 23

I will say this for CH though... I'm a really big fan of CH, I think they have some of the best sculpts out there. My friend Cristy has gotten a couple CH girls, given them new faces, and the transformation is startling - gorgeous sculpts that are absolutely enhanced by a lovely faceup. I BET he'd be really awesome with a new faceup.

I know it's just my taste, and a lot of people like that brown look (or they wouldn't do it) it just doesn't suit me.

 

I've noticed those kinds of lips in several dolls recently; I call it the Amidala look! If you recal from one of the Star Wars movies how Queen Amidala had her lips painted that way. Weired...
Oh and that doll does not look like a healthy young man; he looks like an ill young woman... hmmm... reminds me of some recently acquitted celebrity...

 

...On the off-topic, people semi-consistently say that Kelyn reminds them of a recently acquitted celeb when he's wearing his black wig...

I don't know if I like Fennel or not. It's hard to tell from the pictures.

 

I hope that someone on the board falls in love & buys him; I'd sooooo love to see owner pictures.

Am I an oddball to like to see the bare face?
I fell in love with the lines of my doll's faces, and a wig hiding half (or more, sometimes) of a doll's face, and a stylized make up job make it very difficult for me to judge.

Plus the photo angles thing, mentioned already in this thread.

I'm completely in love with him, I think he has good "bones" there, and would love to give him a new faceup.

New body for Erik or Fennel...*conflict!*

And I also like seeing bare faces...it makes it easier to picture your own faceup there.

 

I would want to see both... a blank face, I don't think I'm quite artistic enough to imagine a faceup at all... looking at fcs pictures with NO faceup, omg they all look the same to me.

 

Almost looks like he's trying to beat Heath in a brooding contest...my Heath says "Bring it on seasoning boy! I've been brooding for centuries, I've honed it to a fine art! :wink:

Seriously though, love the wig color, but IMHO it looks way too big for this doll because it really hides his face. Very Hanson, or Marilyn Manson? Anyway, his lips do seem quite dark against what I can see of his skin tone. But the beauty of it is that some one will find he is their heart's desire! I'm with those that posted about wanting to see owners pictures. Thanks for posting the link to him, I always enjoy seeing what new dolls are out, without having to search for the maker's site. :grin:

That cracked me up!

I think he's handsome, alright. But yeah, his lip paint is really goofy! On the upper lip, the paint bows up, if you know what I mean... like he's making fish-kisses. And that wig is stuck on his head like he just grabbed it out of his sister's closet and jammed it on...

It's so funny the way "you are my precious sister" is in the horsey speech balloon, too. But I like that whole deal... it makes me imagine a story, like they're trapped in a war and have to leave home, and might be separated forever or something... seems like something out of 19th century literature.

There's my 2 cents. This whole thread is funny, the way poor Fennel is being analyzed!
