1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

New or Second Hand For your First Doll

Oct 18, 2010

    1. My first doll was directly from Volks, but I guess it depends on how much money you'd wanna spend. sometimes second is a lot cheaper or the only way to get a hold of a doll. Either way it doesn't matter to me :)

    2. Mine was new. I couldn't find the sculpt in the Marketplace for a long time, so I bought him from the company. If I had found a good condition one secondhand though, I wouldn't have been opposed to buying it!

    3. My first doll was secondhand, and while it wasn't the best experience ever the price was great. Since then all of my dolls have been bought secondhand, I prefer the feeling I get knowing I've saved money to getting something brand new.

    4. Honestly I haven't bought a doll yet. But I am very much leaning toward new. I mean just because its my "first doll" I would want new mainly because other than the people who make it I will be the first person to touch the doll out the box.

    5. My first doll was a Doll Factory Dalsoo (in my avi) who I bought second-hand on eBay. And I adore her! I have no problem at all with the fact that she wasn't new.

My second doll, I bought brand new during CherishDoll's September event.

My third doll is still on layaway, but she's second-hand as well.

I don't see any problems with owning pre-loved dolls. Everyone is so careful to keep their dolls in great shape and it seems like a more affordable way to buy them. Besides, recycling! XD

    6. My first (and so far only) girl was bought third-hand right here on the marketplace. She's rather old, so I had some problems but overall I love my girl and never regreted getting her.

    7. i got my first doll new. then i bought my 2nd doll from a fellow bjd enthusiast here in my country. for me, new doll is of course great, but it doesnt matter if ur doll 2nd hand as long as the doll is in good condition.

    8. my first doll is actually secondhand...it's not just because of the money issue, but also the time I have to wait for the doll...I'm a very inpatient person and can't wait for over a month :(

well good part is I was so lucky to buy her with half of the original price and she was only 3 months old and the previous owner took her out of the box only once and sealed her until she was sold to me :)

    9. My first doll is gonna be a new Rosemary from Dollzone maybe later on second hand but I want to experince that new doll feeling

    10. all of the dollies I have on layaway are second hand ^_^

    11. :)My frist obitsu 60cm is second hand (she well be here at the end of the month) and then l when l get another one it well be brend new from JS.

    12. I ordered my first two dolls directly from the company, just because I could not find any on the second hand market.
Besides, the company I ordered from has a very quick production time, so it wasn't too much of a wait for me.

    13. My first doll was new, with a nice clothes and make-up. I think this is very important for the beginner.
But the second doll was from second hand:)

    14. My 4th doll was a second hand and my 12th one ^^
I prefer to order them from the company, but you get them faster when you buy them second hand and thats lovely =)

    15. I bought mine on second hand. For reasons of time, money and personalization. I'm also more confident with another passionate than with an anonymous company.

    16. If someone happens to have a doll that I want, I will get it second-hand. For me, it isnt where it comes from but who exactly I wanted

    17. While my first doll was from the company (well, Junkyspot technically), I definitely vote for buying secondhand. As many have said before me, it's easier then buying from the company and unless you can get it from a place like Junkyspot or MintonCard who already have the doll in stock, the waits can be pretty killer. I've gone from a 3 month wait to a 3 day wait, guess which one I preferred dealing with?

    18. For me it doesn't matter. I bought my doll from the closed company, from shop, and it was really lucky. But I would buy him as 'second hand' too, because I love the mold, not the new box or certificate.

    19. I say secondhand for better price and also to see if you really like the hobby after you get the doll. Might be easier with Dollfie Dreams to do this vs LE resin ones, but hey to each their own : )

    20. i agree "second hand" all the way...
