New Pipos PO-11 Cats!

BTW not all Barbie clothing will fit her... she has something of an ample bum so clothing without enough stretch in that area won;t fit over... I have a couple of dresses that won;t fit because the material isn't stretchy at all and the back opening isn't deep enough. If I have time this weekend I shall post a mini fashion show ^^... if i have time we have company coming and I want to do her faceup before they arrive.

most clothes fit her, but not all. i have a huge barbie collection as i've always loved dolls and wasn't afraid to play with them even after i had long turned into a teenager. XD

first thing to mention, you know those slender, newer barbies that look more like young teenagers? i have a few not too stretchy clothes for them and they don't close in the back... the velcro barely reaches from a side to the other and in some cases it doesn't at all.

what i found to fit nicely are the 2002-2007 batches which have a bigger bum and not such tiny waists, and i have some that aren't stretchy at all and close in the back perfectly. however, if the back opening is very low on those, it won't close over the bum... not a nice view in my opinion but others might think otherwise. X3

however the top is much longer on barbies, being taller, proportionally wise. some tops might just sit lower than on barbies, however some might be too tight across the chest and the sleeves might slide off the shoulders.

and don't forget that it's harder to notice excess dye on barbie bodies than bjds! if you have any doubts, better give it a soak in water with vinegar and a tad of salt.

suggestions on what i should do are welcome, of course.

I fell in love with Charlotte the very first time I ever saw her. I can't stop looking at her pictures on the Pipos site, and I think that even the basic faceup is just absolutely lovely. I will be saving up for her in the near future, methinks.

Keep posting owner photos! It will make the wait easier

 

I think they're lovely! I'm no too sure about the mature body though, I think I prefer a more childlike look on the animal dolls. I haven't ever seen one in person though. Hopefully someday though! ^_^

 

As soon as the weather permits it (not today unfortunatly) and I have time off i'll do her face up and post pictures. Waiting for the right timing... I also have Jenny patterns so I'll also try and make clothing for her using those

 

Just wanted to add that do not trust the measurements at Pipos... especially for the feet. Her feet are 4 cm not the aforementionned 5 cm on the site. So she can fit in Yosd sized shoes YAY

 

wow that's really surprising. i thought they were more careful than that!
although i wonder if they measured the molded-shoe-feet by mistake?!

 

hey don't i know you from flickr? welcome here! maybe you would like some of the other pipos instead... they have lovely child-shaped kitties, too (off the top of my head, i can count about 5 different ones, no, i think a little more than 5!)

 

hurray! I adore the basic faceup, but I'm curious to see what other people will do with her blank face! Will you be posting progress photos of your work?

 

If i think about taking pictures ^^ when I dp faceups I mean to take picturs but kinda forget along the way. I'll try and do it though... my color theme will be pink, purple, gray, black with a bit of white thrown in

Okay I am putting the finishing touches to my face up... I did remember to take pictures although I am not sure if they will be helpfull or not.

 

Well here are my face up pictures... they aren't as good as a Pipos face up of course... not even close. But i did enjoy doing it even if I had a few mishaps.

It's actually the only pict of the cat I was able to get from her... she moves around constantly... I am going to try and take pictures with Salem my black cat and my Charlotte

 

actually i like the hairy texture that you achieved by pencil! i mean, she's a cat. look how hairy the real one is.
it might need some more in-between colors to make it more subtle? but it's lovely so far.
ETA: actually in the closeup it looks subtle.

this gives me a bit of courage to try a pencil faceup one day.

 

Thank you NataLuna, yes I was trying for a fur texture and you usually have more control with a good quality pastel pencil (I dislike water color it tends to bleed too much when you spray MSC) I keep some fine sanding paper to keep my point very sharp. That's how I finish my eyebrows too, I have more control over the pencil than I can have over a tiny brush.

My dark color was too stark so I actually did smooth my darker colors using a big clean brush and sweep the excess. I realise this kind of faceup isn't what everyone would like but I do like it. I might redo it at a later date if I get fed up with it.

BTW how do you register your doll on the Pipos store? been trying to do it since last week and I just can't figure it out ;.;
