Noses!

Sep 10, 2011

    1. I'm 1000000000000000000000% on board with that Bermann has the perfect nose :D

    2. I actually love all kinds of noses with BJD's, so I guess I haven't got a preference. =)

    3. I know most of the noses here deviate from the traditional ski-jump nose, but... that kind of nose just makes me melt :fangirl:
As strange as it is to be obsessing over noses, the minute I saw Switch's Seoha - or rather, his nose - I fell in love! It's so CUTE!
I love the little pointy end and delicate nostrils, and the fact that it's kind of wide from the front so that it's not too dainty.

    4. Ever since seeing this post I've realized how true it is. A lot of doll noses are quite similar.

    5. I love this nose picture of Shivaree (Doll Chateau Olivia). She has the standard pert little nose from the front, but I love how far it sticks out in profile.

    6. I prefer noses that aren't too pointy. I feel that noses are important since I'm quite picky with doll faces coz I want to get the right one :sweat

    7. i noticed that WithDoll Mai has a slightly non-standard nose for BJD, it is still pointy at the tip but the bridge of the nose has a slight bump in it as opposed to a curve:

as for why many BJD have upturned/pointy noses would probably be that it's the type of nose considered most beautiful by current trends or standards in Korea.

it's currently speculated that there are only about ~14 standard shapes for noses shared among the human race ( have a look: http://s1.zetaboards.com/anthroscape/topic/4447136/1/ )

most BJD i look at have what are referred to as Celestial and Snub noses. since they're almost always made to a cultural aesthetic standard, it's not too surprising that most of them have this type of nose.

    8. RS Gang has the best nose ever. Sole reason why I got him. Dat side profile *me gusta*

I'm a bit amazed by the 'most noses look the same' comment actually... I think that every company has a 'style' that is pretty unique. I mean, RS has bigger more realistic looking noses on most of their dolls whereas a lot of Volks dolls have smaller, pinched noses. I actually think that BJD's have very different side profiles!

    9. I enjoy lots of different styles of noses, mainly because it stops my collection from looking too 'samey'. Soom's Chrom probably has my favourite nose, if I had to pick from amongst my collection.

    10. There are many kinds of noses that can be found on BJDs, but those triangular, incredibly pointy noses definitely seem like the majority. Not so much now, when there are so many active companies and there is (thankfully) much more variety, but they still seem pretty popular.
I don't like them that much, I have to admit... My favorite kind of nose isn't the super pointy one; I prefer when they are on the smaller, less pronounced side, not very pointy. I have lost count of the amount of dolls I found beautiful looking at their front but gave up of ever getting, solely because they had a super pointy nose that went on forever when you looked at their profiles. I find that kind of nose too exagerated... But that is just my personal taste, of course. Also, when they look a bit more rectangular up front, that is probably the perfect kind of BJD nose for me xD
Even when you don't see their profiles, I like noses that don't stick out too much when looking at a doll's face - they should be just feature, not the center of the attention - those have to be the eyes.

    11. I really like SWITCH boys' noses>< I love the flared nostrils of Hahwa especially, they are very emotive^^

    12. My KDF Luts girl has this really thin pointy nose which I noticed seems to be the same for a lot of Luts dolls. Although it is kinda cute, I think I'd prefer a more natural looking, fleshed-out nose.

    13. I really like the nose of Soom Heliot and Chrome. But the most favorite among BuddyDoll Rafael (sorry only that the company is no more.) His nose is long and straight, almost like aristocrat.

    14. ahha!! what a coincidence! i just thought about the sharp of doll nose yesterday, and i found this thread today!
i love the nose with little upwards. however, even though most dolls' nose are beautiful, but looks much the same. i do love unique style, so not so much into noses normal like. n the other kinda of nose i like is real human nose, looks so charming! ^ ^

    15. I won't lie, the main reason I bought my doll was for his nose lol. It was so cute! It looks so realistic! I love it!

    16. Noses are pretty important. I'm super picky with facial sculpts, unbelievably so.

If a face actually appeals to me, but I can't see all angles of the nose, I won't even consider it. I love prominent bridges, as an Italian American from Lazio, I have and admire the aquiline/Roman nose. I love lots of noses on people, but I err to realistic in dolls...

Souldoll Jonny and Iplehouse Rex, the only ones I own, both have very detailed, realistic noses with distinct bridges. :)

    17. Same... I look at all angles to see if I like the nose of a BJD and in most cases that's what avoids that I add more dolls to my wishlist... apparently Asian companies have a thing for loooooong long pointy noses. I don't mind the pointy (not too, too much though) but I hate the really long ones, which are common for all the dolls from some companies... they really should try to add different features to faces, it definitely feels sometimes as if everyone was making the same sculpts.

    18. My Island doll Eric came with a bump on his nose, very much like my own so I kind of like it, and it's a bit unusual.
I also took a sander to my RS Dong, his nose was way to long and pointy, now it is much more natural.

    19. I love it when someone says she's "picky" about noses! ;)

I have a smallish nose myself so, of course, I like big noses. I didn't see many of them until DollClans introduced Vezeto so I snapped him up,

Now I keep seeing more boys with large, aquiline, bulbous, or bumpy noses, and I think they're all great. I don't believe I would ever get a guy doll with a small nose.

I like larger noses on girls too, but not exclusively, and they're a little harder to find. One I find most pleasing is Island Doll's Vivian who has a wonderful aquiline profile,

    20. Yeah...I find my eyes always divert to the nose and mouth section when I see a doll. I mean, if you don't like the eyes you can always change it but the nose and mouth parts are what makes the doll. I have a rather small nose myself, so I LOVE aquiline noses. Some good examples are the Iplehouse males and recently, Dollclans Vezeto. I'm trying very hard to find a character to fit him.
