Noses!

When choosing doll noses are a VERY big factor. I look for dolls to shell my own characters and as I have a clear image of each character's different noses, getting the right nose is very important! Also, I really like dolls to have contrasting nose shapes, noses are a really refining part of the face and I love seeing all different noses! As a side note, Iplehouse's Benny has a lovely nose!

 

Customhouse St. Mina has a very distinctive nose, very aquiline. I've never seen another BJD with a nose like hers, but I understand the sculpt was based on the face of a Korean actress, so it's not surprising her nose would be so individual. It's charming and it looks great on her.

 

I believe the reason I fell so hard for Iplehouse's Leonard is because he has such a good nose. (I've always been the same with RL people, I just really like a good "strong" nose haha xD)

 

I love strong, interesting noses in real life and definitely prefer interesting noses on my dolls. My main doll is actually a male sculpt redone as a female (Souldoll Kanguk), and I love her bigger nose.

I want to get a few minifees, but the swoopy 'anime' nose puts me off many of the sculpts. If I collected male dolls then mmmm David Kuncci's nose is wonderful.

 

A straight nose with a small bump is ideal to me.
But I haven't really paid attention to the dolls noses so far. I'm all over eyes and brows.

 

I love noses....my favorite nose was my Chiwoo's nose because it was long...but he fell one day and I had to sand down his nose so now it is a tad smaller. Right now my favorite nose is from Rosetta Zio...so cute!

 

The nose on a BJD can actually make my mind up about whether to buy it or not. I do see a lot of the long, prominent noses which can sometimes make the doll's face look a little droopy. It depends on the rest of the face I think, as if the face is round or squat, the noses can look disproportionate, but if the face is a longer, thinner shape then the noses look just fine

I like distinctive noses too.

 

My main focus is usually the eyes and lips, and I'll admit I never really paid that much attention to the noses until recently. I'd have to say my favorite BJD nose is on Soom-The Crow. It's one of their most realistic noses in my opinion, and I love the shape and how the shadows cast from it

 

Oh man, when I saw Leo's nose I went nuts. It's got so much character! Not alot of dolls have "beaky" noses. Leo would make a great Snape--he's far too beefy for Rory, although he'd look great in roman armor. XD I rather like the small "beak" Island Doll's Vivien has.

 

Big part of the reason I chose the sculpt I did for my girl is because she's got the perfect nose! While I would have preferred her to have more prominent cheekbones (Alena in my head has sharp ones; the Dollzone Gretta sculpt I've used for her barely has any), the general shape of her face is correct - bonus for great lips! - and her profile is pretty lovely:



I'm having serious problems with Iplehouse's new Leonard as well. The first picture I ever saw of him was a profile view. That nose is glorious!

I'm a huge fan of Dollshe Saint as well, largely because the entire sculpt would be perfect for a character of mine if I were to ever decide to shell him in BJD form. The perfect nose is a huge part of it! Personally I think the shape of the nose is one of those things we don't really think about but it can add a lot of character to a face.

 

I've never particularly been a fan of Impldoll's sculpts, but I did a double take on their Idol Doll Kevin. What a honker! I think the right face-up artist could do wonders with him.

My favorite nose would be Cerisedoll's Ninon. Oh when will that beautiful head ever be mine? Lillycat makes such beautiful, round noses on some of her girls.

 

I will just say that I love noses.

They are the second most important feature to me (after mouths, which are harder to mod). As I think someone mentioned, I won't buy a head until I've seen it's profile view. I really hate when companies show you twenty different pictures of the doll and they're all from straight on, or turned -slightly- to the side -_-... I NEED TO SEE THE NOSE DARNIT

The next head I'm buying will be getting his nose modded xD

The 'same-nose' issue is particularly a plight among MSDs... They are so many small round button noses out there. Those are cute, but even with those I just wish they had more detail/definition :/ and we definitely need more long/ pointy and unusual MSD noses!

 

Recently made the mistake of seeing owner pics of Doll Cahteau's Dolores in profile. Oh my god, what a lovely nose! Don't look if you lik fun noses! I almost wish I had a Dolores on the way now instead of Cyril because of the goshdarn nose.

Panbow: i agree with you. it drives me nuts when they post all these shots but dont manage to show the face from different angles. i normaly buy my dolls blank because i really love doing their faceups myself. an odd nose can make doing a faceup really difficult so i specially hate it when they dont have the blank head pictures from all angles.
i'm not so sure about MSD since i've always bout SD size dolls. but the pointiest nose so far has been from Akagidoll. i find them very pointy and long which is nice on some dolls like their Tanta but it has forced me to mod others like their Lin.

i think so far from my own dolls my fav nose is my IS Tosaca nose. i just feel like it's very natural with just the right amount of fullness to it.

 

SOOM Chrom has been mentioned a lot, but his nose is beautiful! I don't own him but my friend does and I've done his face-up. Most BJD noses tend to be very small and slim and unrealistic. This doesn't particularly matter to me, but I'd love to see more dolls with realistic noses! I think Iplehouse and Souldoll have some variability.

 

I fell in love with Iplehouse Jerome's nose when I first saw it. I've never really much had a thing for noses, as long as they weren't tiny anime hills and slopes, but it was like his nose was calling to me from heaven.

And now I pay a lot more attention to dolly noses haha!

 

I never thought about it with human noses. I love the animal noses like cat or deer noses.

 

I actually love looking for female dolls that don't have the stereotypical "anime nose". I love a strong, rather large, straight nose. I think you could call it a Roman nose, but any pronounce nose will do. I don't know why, but I just love a good nose on a girl doll. You don't see it a lot, but I love it!
